Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United faced off in one of the greatest comebacks in Premier League history during the 2001/02 season. On September 29, 2001, at White Hart Lane, Tottenham stunned Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United with an extraordinary first-half performance. Dean Richards opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a powerful header before Les Ferdinand doubled Tottenham's lead in the 25th minute. Just before halftime, Christian Ziege made it 3-0, sending the Spurs supporters into absolute disbelief. With Manchester United trailing by three goals at the break, one of the most humiliating defeats of Ferguson's career appeared inevitable. But what happened next became Premier League history. Manchester United returned for the second half with incredible determination. Andy Cole pulled one back just one minute after the restart, giving United a glimmer of hope. Laurent Blanc then scored a header to make it 3-2 before Ruud van Nistelrooy completed the comeback with another header in the 72nd minute. With the score level at 3-3, United refused to settle for a draw. Juan Sebastián Verón produced a brilliant finish to put Manchester United ahead 4-3, leaving White Hart Lane completely stunned. In the final minutes, David Beckham completed the extraordinary turnaround with a spectacular strike, sealing an unbelievable 5-3 victory. From 3-0 down at halftime to winning 5-3, Manchester United produced one of the most iconic second-half performances in English football history. The return fixture at Old Trafford on March 6, 2002, ended in another Manchester United victory, with David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Ole Gunnar Solskjær scoring in a 4-0 win alongside an own goal from Tottenham's Mauricio Taricco.
