Striker Isaac Kiese-Thelin spooned a late shot over the bar with the goal at his mercy as his Sweden side were held to a goalless draw by Denmark in their pre-World Cup friendly at the Friends Arena on Saturday. On a balmy evening, both sides took the opportunity to ease some players back into the fold in a feisty friendly featuring plenty of direct football and a few meaty challenges. The visitors were without Tottenham star and talisman Christian Eriksen for the friendly as he and his partner were expecting the birth of their child. He's on standby for that.' Hareide conceded that Eriksen's absence did cause somewhat of a selection headache and it proved he was right as Denmark struggled to create any clear-cut chances throughout the majority of Saturday's friendly.'We have to try to find someone who can fit [Eriksen's] role. We have different players, but we've also got a new man into the squad.'Deportivo La Coruna’s Michael Krohn-Dehli, who was Eriksen's replacement as the creative force in the side, failed to make the same impact against Sweden and was substituted midway through the second half. Forsberg's best effort came late in the game with a mazy dribble to tee up Kiese-Thelin, but his first-time shot flew harmlessly over the crossbar. Denmark midfielder William Kvist has been out of favour recently at FC Copenhagen but he quickly slotted into a defensive role alongside Thomas Delaney to cancel out the creative threat of Emil Forsberg.
Egypt equalise late to draw World Cup warmup against Kuwait KUWAIT CITY (Reuters) - Egypt’s Ayman Ashraf equalised nine minutes from fulltime as they drew 1-1 away to Kuwait on Friday in the first of three warmup matches before they head to the World Cup in Russia next month. Fahad Al Ansari scored after six minutes for the Gulf country, but substitute Ashraf squeezed home a square pass from Mahmoud Kahraba for the 81st-minute equaliser. Egypt were without talisman Mohamed Salah, who will play for Liverpool in Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid, and found it hard to break down their defensive-minded hosts. Egypt goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy, making a late bid to be included in their final 23-man World Cup squad, made several good saves to strengthen his chances of going to the tournament. Egypt play Colombia on June 1 and Belgium on June 6 in their final warmup games before they head to the World Cup, where they are in Group A with Uruguay, hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia. The Ladbrokes Premiership Play-Off first leg saw David Hopkin's Livingston grab the advantage. Thistle started well, as talismanic striker Kris Doolan nodded home to give the Maryhill side the lead on ten minutes. Undeterred, Livi hit back first through Keaghan Jacobs, who levelled the tie only three minutes later, before Livi grabbed control of the tie. A miserly Livingston defence kept Thistle at arms' length and passed up some golden first-half chances in a breathless half of football. Livi refused to let up after the break, and after some neat play on the right wing, a flying Scott Pittman fired home the winner on the night to give the Lions the advantage. The tie concludes on Sunday, as Thistle attempt to hold onto their top flight status from a hungry Livingston side in Maryhill. Neymar is currently out injured with a broken metatarsal and his nation are sweating on his fitness ahead of the World Cup.Coutinho is now one of world's most highly-rated midfielders since flourishing under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.Last January he finally made his dream move to Barcelona in January for £142m but narrowly missed out on Luiz Felipe Scolari's 2014 World Cup squad. And while he has made a somewhat slow start to his Barca career, Alves insists that he has to be considered in the same breath as Neymar."I think that Coutinho is a player who is on the same level as Ney, he has a massive influence on our game and in his teams,” he said ahead of this evening’s clash with Germany."When he was in Liverpool and now in Barca, he has improved a lot and learned to read the game better, to make the right decisions. Neymar goes clubbing with WAG Bruna Marquezine NEYMAR was pictured clubbing last night with a protective boot on his injured foot. 1 / 5 REUTERS "That is great to see, to play with such a good footballer who has that ability. There are others who are similar. “We are lucky to play with great players and have them on our side is fantastic. “We have to get the best out of them and build a solid team.”Brazil coach Tite echoed Alves' words, stating that the Barca man has become a "very strong" player as he prepares for his first World Cup. "What qualities do you think are important in a footballer? He has it," Tite said."The whole of Coutinho's work is very strong. He has passing, competitiveness, effectiveness at medium distance, speed of thought and execution, assists, and now a greater maturity, which is also important."He and Willian understand that they are offensive players. Douglas Costa is taking this in, [Roberto] Firmino is looking to convert what he has done in Liverpool – being aggressive, going for the goal, not heading out wide."

2018 Schools Cup Semi-Final - RBAI v RS Armagh - Ravenhill Stadium 7 March 2018 Some video highlights - capturing most of the critical points of the Schools Cup semi-final between Inst and RS Armagh. Armagh started the better in the game - playing towards the Memorial End and taking advantage of the wind thrown up by a squall that lasted for 20 minutes at the start of the game. A few minutes in Zac Thompson of Armagh (trying to take advantage of the strong breeze) missed a long range penalty kick effort. On 12 mins - Mathew Reaney (No 12) scored a try for Armagh - converted by Thompson. A further Armagh try by captain Jack Treanor followed just a few minutes later (again converted by the No13). On 20 minutes RBAI suffered a significant loss with captain and talisman David McCann having to leave the field with injury. On 25 mins Robin McIlveen kicked a penalty for RBAI from in front of the posts. 31 minutes in and Niall Armstrong (9) scores for RBAI - McIlveen converts for 14-10 scoreline at HT. Armagh again start quicker in the second half with No 8 Ryan O'Neill scoring a try - converted by Thompson. 13 mins into the second period Jude Postlethwaite (11) scores a try in the corner (not converted). Armagh immediately apply pressure again in the RBAI 22 and work a well made try in the corner by Nicholas Jennings (11) (not converted). With the score 26-15 to Armagh the play switched again to the Armagh 22 where RBAI applied good pressure and with five minutes remaining in the 35 minute half RBAI hooker Conor McCormick forces his way over for a try under the posts. McIlveen converts. Armagh now holding a narrow 26-22 defend heroically as RBAI apply huge pressure for the last few minutes of this game. In the last play of the game RBAI have a penalty and run it and after a number of phases they get over the line - only for referee Dan Carson to call the ball to have been held up. The final whistle is blown and Armagh progress to the Schools Cup Final on 19 March where they will play Campbell College (who defeated Methody 17-8 in the semi at Ravenhill on 6 March). Overall the RBAI v Armagh game was a great game to watch. Looking back it felt like Armagh always had an answer to a RBAI score. RBAI lost a number of line outs which stopped their momentum at critical times in the game. RBAI's experience of big games nearly got them out of trouble right at the end - but overall the best team on the day won through.
