Segunda jornada del Tour de Turquía y segunda resolución al sprint, aunque, en esta ocasión, tras un día de muchos nervios por las rachas de viento cerca de la costa que ha provocado un cambio de liderato. Después de su estreno en la Volta a Catalunya, Kaden Groves (BikeExchange) se ha impuesto a Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin) en la llegada a Alacati. Todo parecía preparado para un nuevo triunfo de Caleb Ewan, tras el gran lanzamiento del equipo Lotto Soudal, pero el australiano dejó de pedalear, como si sus fuerzas se hubieran evaporado de golpe. En la llegada se echó en falta a Nacer Bouhanni y a Manuel Peñalver, que abandonaron tras sufrir sendas caídas. El mejor español volvió a ser Miguel Ángel Fernández, que repitió su 8º puesto del día previo. En cuanto a la lucha por la general, Nairo Quintana se vio implicado en dos caídas, una a pocos metros de la zona de protección y perdió la mayoría de sus opciones de luchar por el triunfo final en la carrera turca. La presencia española en esta etapa, más corta que la del día anterior, no se limitó al esprint final. En la fuga de ocho ciclistas que rodó en cabeza hasta la última hora de carrera, hubo tres ciclistas nacionales: Jon Barrenetxea (Caja Rural), Ángel Fuentes (Burgos-BH) y Peio Goikoetxea (Euskaltel-Euskadi). Junto a ellos hicieron camino Noah Granigan (Wildlife Generation), Julian Lino (Bike Aid), Oleksandr Prevar (Spor Toto), Cristian Raileanu (Sakarya) y el excorredor del Burgos-BH, Nícolas Sessler (Global 6). Barrenetxea logró hacerse con la máxima puntuación en el primer sprint intermedio, pero no así en el paso de montaña, donde fue superado en el último momento por Granigan, el mejor clasificado de la general de los ocho de cabeza. La tensión provocada por el viento, que obligaba a los corredores a mantener una buena colocación en el grupo, provocó algunas caídas, como las protagonizadas por Ahmet Orken o Matthew Walls. Tampoco se libró Nairo Quintana, quien se fue a la cuneta junto a Jay Vine (Alpecin) en el único ascenso puntuable del día. En el repecho posterior a esta dificultad orográfica, fueron neutralizados la mayoría de escapados. No así Peio Goikoetxea, que lanzó un ataque para mantener vivas sus opciones varios kilómetros más. Julian Lino trató de perseguirle, pero ambos acabaron siendo neutralizados poco después por un pelotón donde imponían el ritmo BikeExchange e Israel. olvieron los nervios en un intento de abanico que acabó partiendo el grupo en dos por la caída de Jakub Mareczko en los primeros puestos. No tardó en producirse la reagrupación y, aprovechando el posterior parón, lo probó Vitaliy Buts, fugado en la etapa previa. El ucraniano fue atrapado antes del sprint masivo y se produjo entonces la segunda caída de Quintana, a apenas 500 metros de la zona de protección que habría evitado la pérdida de casi dos minutos. El equipo Lotto Soudal lanzó la llegada de forma impecable pero, incomprensiblemente, Caleb Ewan no se encontró bien y dejó de esprintar a los pocos metros de apartarse su compañero. Groves y Philipsen lo superaron y el australiano cruzó la meta en primer lugar, haciéndose así con el maillot de líder.

RESUMEN 4 ETAPA VUELTA al PAIS VASCO ITZULIA 2022 DANIEL MARTINEZ SORPRESIVA VICTORIA HOY ... Daniel Felipe Martínez consiguió la victoria de etapa en una jornada en la que fue protagonista. Atacó en el último paso por el Vivero, pero al no culminar con éxito ese ataque, guardó fuerzas para los metros finales. En el esprint del grupo fue el más veloz, confirmando las buenas piernas que tenía en el día de hoy. Pero su victoria no fue un camino de rosas. Quick Step quiso jugar sus cartas con Julian Alaphilippe y Remco Evenepoel, aunque finalmente el francés fue 2º. La escuadra británica suma su 13ª victoria del año y Daniel Martínez la 2ª. La etapa se completó 40 minutos por delante del horario previsto. Eso dice mucho de la velocidad a la que se rodó. En L¡la primera hora de carrera completaron una media de 52 Km /h y la segunda a 47. Casi nada. La fuga estuvo formada por 15 corredores, siendo los protagonistas Tsgabu Grmay (Bex), Davide Formolo (UAE), Mauri Vansevenant (QST), Óscar Rodríguez (MOV), Geraint Thomas (Ineos), Rubén Fernández y Victor Lafay (Cofidis), Cristian Rodríguez (TEN), Mark Donovan (DSM), Jefferson Cepeda (Caja Rural), Bruno Armirail (Groupama), Mikel Iturria (Euskaltel), Rubén Guerreiro (EF Education), Felix Grossschartner (Bora) y Pascal Eenkhoorn (Jumbo). Precisamente el primero y el último fueron los primeros corredores en abandonar la escapada. Cada uno a su manera. Eenkhoorn se descolgó a 156 km de meta y Grmay atacó a 56, marchándose en solitario. Por detrás, la diferencia se mantenía estable en torno a los cuatro minutos. Pero la aproximación al Alto de Urruztimendi, redujo la distancia considerablemente hasta situarse en 1:30. Mientras tanto, en la fuga tan sólo aguantaban los más fuertes. Thomas, Lafay, Guerreiro y Armirail alcanzaban a Grmay, le dejaban en la estacada, y formaban un cuarteto en cabeza de carrera. En la última ascensión al Vivero, Lafay se quedó en solitario en cabeza manteniendo el pulso al pelotón que no conseguía reducir la diferencia con él. No había un equipo que tomara la iniciativa en el pelotón. Y en el pelotón se sucedían los ataques, ya que Brambilla, Daniel Felipe Martínez y Evenepoel lo probaron. Pero el ataque duro fue el de Julian Alaphilippe. Superado ayer en meta por Pello Bilbao, el francés y Quick Step querían dinamitar la carrera y tomarse la venganza. Alcanzado el campeón del mundo, volvía a la carga Evenepoel en el descenso. Pero no hubo manera. El equipo UAE afrontó los últimos kilómetros tirando a bloque para alcanzar a Lafay. Con cuatro hombres al frente del pelotón, pusieron un ritmo muy fuerte con Marc Soler para reducir la diferencia. El trabajo terminó teniendo su recompensa, pero no para UAE. Fue Daniel Felipe Martínez el más rápido en el esprint del grupo, superando por escasos centímetros a Julian Alaphilippe (2º) y Diego Ulissi (3º). El líder Primoz Roglic terminó en la cuarta posición y Pello Bilbao que fue el mejor español ocupó la quinta plaza.

Parecía imposible que nadie superase a Julian Alaphilippe al sprint y así quedó reflejado el día previo en Viana. La llegada de Amurrio también parecía idónea para él, más aún con la veloz aproximación de Remco Evenepoel, pero el galo no contó con un ciclista: Pello Bilbao. El corredor del Bahrain llevaba mucho tiempo buscando su primer triunfo en la carrera de casa y en los últimos kilómetros atacó en varias ocasiones, encontrando siempre algún rival que le frenase. No se dio por vencido el de Gernika y, en un final agónico, batió al campeón del mundo, dando al ciclismo español la 7ª victoria del año. No hay cambios en el liderato, ya que la mayoría de líderes entraron en el reducido grupo que se formó al paso por Ozeka, y Roglic mantiene el amarillo. Aunque el gran protagonista del día fue el corredor del Bahrain, otro español soñó durante muchos kilómetros con lograr una gesta que superase su triunfo en Ruanda. Cristian Rodríguez fue el más fuerte del trío de escapados que había logrado distanciarse del pelotón. Tardó mucho en formarse esta fuga junto a Hugo Houle (Israel) y Jan Polanc (UAE), después de los intentos de Gotzon Martin (Euskaltel) o Jonathan Lastra (Caja Rural), entre otros, en la primera parte de la etapa. El canadiense cedió pronto una vez la carrera entró en el terreno más escarpado y tampoco llegó muy lejos la aventura del esloveno, que cedía en el primer paso por Ozeka. INEOS tomaba las riendas del pelotón, no el Jumbo del líder Roglic, por lo que se podía anticipar un ataque en la contínua sucesión de pasos de montaña y repechos no puntuables. Las opciones de Rodríguez crecieron, cuando un parón en el pelotón a unos 40 kilómetros de meta le permitió ampliar su renta hasta unos peligrosos cuatro minutos. Pero el equipo de Brailsford volvió a la carga. Adam Yates endureció el segundo ascenso a Ozeka, seleccionando el pelotón, donde apenas resistían unas 15 unidades. Tras él lo probó Daniel Felipe Martínez, quien fue controlado por Jonas Vingegaard, compañero del maillot amarillo de la carrera. La mayoría de favoritos, incluidos los españoles Pello Bilbao, Enric Mas o Ion Izagirre resistían en un grupo al que regresó en el descenso Marc Soler, que, sin embargo, acabaría cediendo tiempo en meta. Evenepoel entró en cabeza en los últimos metros, de perfil ascendente, llevando a su rueda a Alaphilippe. El francés arrancó, pero no tuvo el gas del día previo, y a su derecha apareció Pello Bilbao para lograr lo que pocos esperarían. Con un último golpe de riñón logró el triunfo y festejó con rabia el haber podido lograr finalmente lo que tanto buscaba en la Vuelta al País Vasco. Adam Yates sufrió un pinchazo en la zona de protección y la mayoría de favoritos entraron en este grupo, incluido Roglic, que ostentará el maillot de líder camino de Zamudio.

"We have considered the future of our people, especially the indigenous population, in opting to shift away from coal gradually. We want to establish a structure to safeguard them, as well as our forests and wildlife "In an interview, he said. India is the world's second-largest coal importer, user, and producer, with the fourth-largest deposits, the majority of which are in Chhattisgarh. The far-away and fabulous corner of the Karoo where the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Free State cosy up to each other utterly blows my mind. This oft-forgotten piece of South Africa is a space where wasteland and heartland collide, fusing a rich history which is unfortunately being eroded – slowly, but surely – by urbanisation, rural neglect and the economic collapse so typical of the platteland. A ghost town – with an Olympic-sized pool – decays in the shadow of #Teebus Peak; Paul Kruger’s old house lies locked and forgotten off the R53; the Bulhoek Pass is pot-holed, overgrown and closed to regular traffic; Steynsburg has the post-apocalyptic feel of a dorp from one of Deon Meyer’s novels … And yet, the area brims with heart-warming richness and diversity… Characters – like Oom Charles (ask him about his gunshot wound) – are larger than life, and country hospitality overwhelms you around every corner. What’s more, the Trek2Teebus route and landscape promise to blow your mind. It is a ‘Country Crank’ on remote tracks and farm roads tripping beyond the Teebus and Koffiebus kopjes looming up from golden swathes of savanna grassland. You will be in your element as you weave amidst nguni cattle or meander through endless fields of mauve irises. This is mountain biking heaven, and you need to lay tracks here if you event want to begin to understand the attraction of this wonderful space. As an Eastern Cape son, to me it was like coming home, I suppose. The Baviaans River Conservancy where I grew up is but a couple of hours away, and I felt like a 58yr old kid let loose within a familiar outdoor playground. Rooigras seeds in your socks, the Lego jumble of ysterklip koppies, the whistle of wild rhebuck in the highland ridges, the smell of the fertile red soil … it all felt comfortably familiar.
