This as top seed Suntory dealt Weisse Adler a 25-16, 25-15, 25-21 beating in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Sunday at the Beppu Arena. The 6-foot-5 Filipino import had a quiet return, registering 11 points, all from attacks in just 20 attempts. Curtis Stockton unloaded 15 markers of his own as Oita Miyoshi missed the production of their locals. Weisse Adler dropped to 2-24. 7-foot-2 Dmitriy Muserskiy literally stood tall over everyone, leading the Sunbirds with 21 points scattered through 16 spikes, four blocks, and a service ace. Masahiro Yaganida and Haruki Ono tallied three blocks apiece, finishing with 12 and eight markers, respectively, for the 22-2 Suntory. Bagunas and Oita look to stop the bleeding when they collide with the league’s top scorer Bartosz Kurek and Wolfdogs Nagoya on Saturday, Feb. 27, 1 pm, at the Cycle Shop Kodama Osu Arena.

The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 6-5 in a shootout, picking up their 10th win of the season, improving their record to 10-6-4 on the season. Carl Soderberg opened the scoring on the power play with Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat assisting on the marker. Patrick Kane would then pot his 9th of the season and his 398th career NHL goal, Pius Suter and Mattias Janmark assisted on the goal. Cam Atkinson would strike shortly thereafter to get the Blue Jackets on the board. Patrick Laine would strike 48 seconds into the 2nd period to tie the game on the power play. Brandon Hagel would then score his first ever NHL goal to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead, Patrick Kane and Carl Soderberg would pick up the assists. Patrick Laine would quickly strike back to re-tie the game at 3 with his 2nd power play goal of the game. Dominik Kubalik would then put the Blackhawks ahead once again with a rocket his 3rd 5 on 5 goal for the season. Assists going to Duncan Keith and Carl Soderberg. Adam Boqvist with give the Blackhawks a 5-3 lead with a rocket shot on the power play. His first of the season. Assists going to Patrick Kane and Dominik Kubalik. Oliver Bjorkstrand would then pot two goals to tie the game at 5. Ageo Medics were always there, keeping toe-to-toe with the undefeated Arrows but just lacked the finishing kick to close out the sets in their favor. Jaja Santiago was guarded throughout the match, only getting six points founded on three spikes, two block kills, and an ace, after a double-digit performance yesterday in their win against PFU. Yuri Yoshino led Saitama with 12 markers while Shainah Joseph had 11 of her own. Leading scorer Mami Uchiseto was held to just two points. Ageo Medics went down to 6-7 for the sixth seed in the 12-team tourney. Azerbaijani import Jana Kulan topped the scoreboard for Toray with 22 points, spread through 17 hits, three blocks, and two service aces. Twenty-year-old Mayu Ishikawa followed suit with 14 markers under her name as the Arrows remain spotless in 15 outings. Santiago and Ageo Medics look to get back on the winning column when they square off against Toyota Auto Body on Saturday, Jan. 23, 1 pm, at the Saitama City Memorial Gymnasium. Frustration continued for Oita Miyoshi despite the constant impressive performances by Filipino import Bryan Bagunas. FC Tokyo cruised to their fourth-straight victory as they improve to 6-10 for eighth place. PBA Finals Ginebra vs Talk and Text Game 1 Full Highlights Barangay Ginebra San Miguel took Game 1 against the TNT Tropang Giga in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals, 100-94, in overtime on Sunday. Ginebra opened the extra period with a 4-0 run to take a 96-92 lead over TNT with 3:27 left. A Roger Pogoy shot broke the ice for the Tropang Giga, but Aljon Mariano answered with a layup to give them enough cushion as the game entered its final minute. A Japeth Aguilar slam with 19 ticks left delivered the win for Barangay Ginebra. Ginebra limited TNT to just two points in the extra period after an Arvin Tolentino shot forced the game into overtime, 92-all. Both teams were locked at 41 at the end of the first two quarters of action. Japeth Aguilar registered 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Stanley Pringle chipped in 24 markers for the Ginebra win. LA Tenorio logged 12 points and 10 assists. Game 2 of the best-of-seven finals will be played on Wednesday. The WHS incorporates the Rules of Handicapping and the Course Rating System, (a consistent method to calculate a golf courses difficulty), to successfully determine a golfer’s Handicap Index. The system, which comes into effect on 2 November 2020 will replace the six different systems currently used by over 15 million golfers, in more than 80 countries, to unify all golfers across the world. Why has the WHS been created? (week 1) With golf being centred around one standard set of rules governed by The R&A and USGA, it makes sense to unify the previous six different handicapping systems, making for a more inclusive and equitable sport. The WHS was therefore developed with consideration given to club golfers who play both sporadically and more regularly. With all golfers only initially required to submit scorecards for 54 holes to acquire a Handicap Index, the new WHS is less formidable for new players. How does the WHS work? (week 2) For golfers in England, calculating a new Handicap Index will be front of mind when adopting the WHS. The process will begin in the same way throughout the world – by accurately measuring a player’s golfing ability. From this they will be provided an initial Handicap Index. After a player has achieved 20 scores, a ‘fully developed’ Handicap Index can be calculated to provide the most accurate representation of a player’s ability. To ensure a player has only one Handicap Index, the golfer will nominate a home club. The home club is determined by the player, but for practicality it is recommended this is where the player typically submits the most of their scores.
