After being invited to bat, in-form Lahore Qalandars handed a 183-run target to unbeaten Multan Sultans, but the Mohammad Rizwan-led side could not live up to the situation as they were defeated by 52 runs. Lahore Qalandars' bowling attack shined against Multan Sultans as they managed to bowl out the defending champions for 130. 20-year-old Zaman Khan claimed three wickets and gave away only 21 runs in 3.3 overs. Skipper Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Rashid Khan took two wickets each to dismantle Multan Sultans batting line-up. Rashid Khan took two crucial wickets of Mohammad Rizwan and Rilee Rossouw. With the win, Lahore Qalandars have moved to second position in the table. Qalandars' Fakhar Zaman had lit the Gaddafi Stadium with his exceptional knock against table-toppers Multan Sultans, scoring a quick 37-ball 60 runs. Kamran Ghulam and Muhammad Hafeez played two spectacular knocks to help the Qalandars set a big total of 183 runs for Multan Sultans. Phil Salt also scored a blistering 13-ball 26. Multan Sultans did quite a decent job but could not properly dismantle the Qalandars batting order. It should be noted that this is the second time that the two sides faced each other in this year's PSL, with Sultans toppling Qalandars when they first met in Karachi. The Gladiators suffered a huge blow earlier today after Nawaz was ruled out of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to an injury. Nawaz has suffered a navicular bone nondisplaced fracture. Nawaz's exit is a huge setback to the Gladiators' team, who are currently sitting on the fourth spot of the PSL 2022 points table with four points in five matches. Despite anxiety among players relating to safety concerns for the tour, all of Australia’s biggest stars have been named in an 18-player squad released on Tuesday morning. But the Australian Cricketers Association said there could be some players who will withdraw from Australia’s first tour of Pakistan in 24 years. There were no surprises in the touring party, with Western Australia speedster Jhye Richardson the only player missing from the 15 who destroyed England 4-0 in the Ashes. Richardson, who suffered a foot injury in the Adelaide Test, has been left out to manage his long-term welfare. Scott Boland has kept his place following his meteoric rise, though he faces a challenge to stay in the XI with senior quick Josh Hazlewood back after a side strain ruled him out of the final four Ashes Tests. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh returns to the Test squad after hitting career highs in the white-ball arena, while spinner Ashton Agar is one of three frontline slow bowlers for Australia’s first tour of Asia since 2018. Josh Inglis retains his place as the country’s No.2 gloveman in the longest format, while uncapped leggie Mitchell Swepson has also kept his place in the squad. “This squad covers for all scenarios, including the conditions given it has been such a long time since Australia was last in Pakistan,” selection chair George Bailey said. “With several subcontinent tours and a one-day World Cup in India on the near horizon this is a great first up challenge for the group after the successful home Ashes Series. “It’s also a very historic tour given the length of time since an Australian side last toured Pakistan.” The three-Test series in Pakistan is the first of three tours to Asia in the next 12-18 months, with missions also to come in Sri Lanka later this year and India. Cummins has made no secret of his desire for Australia, No.1 in the Test rankings, to again become a powerhouse under his watch but knows winning on the subcontinent is central to those ambitions being realised.
