1993 FSU Football vs florida Highlights

25 years ago today, FSU continued its 1993 national championship campaign against the #7 florida gators in Gainesville, FL. Florida State concluded an 11-1 regular season by defeating arch-rival florida for the sixth time in seven years, 33-21 at Florida Field. The victory came before a state record 85,507 fans and ended the gators' 23 game winning streak at "the Swamp" & the first game Steve Spurrier lost at home since taking over for the orange & blue. Charlie Ward led the Tribe offensive assault and put his signature on the Heisman Trophy by piling up 475 yards of total offense. The senior All-American completed an FSU record 38 passes in 53 attempts for 446 yards and four touchdowns. He finished his career with 19 FSU passing and total offense records. With momentum on the gators' side and the florida crowd deafening, Ward hooked up with his roommate for the play of the game. After his first two passes were batted down, Ward faced third and 10 from his own 21. On the play action fake, Ward eluded a pair of defenders as he rolled to his left, then lofted a soft toss toward Warrick Dunn on the left sideline. The freshman caught the ball in stride, picked up a key block from Vanover and raced down the sidelines for a 79 yard score and a 33-21 FSU lead. The florida State defense returned to its early season form, sacking gator quarterbacks six times and stuffing the florida rushing game. The gators were held to minus 33 yards on the ground, an FSU record, and All-America running back Errict Rhett was limited to just seven yards on seven carries. Here are the highlights from the The Seminoles' Championship Uprising video.

Croatia beat Spain 3-2 to set up England showdown. Tin Jedvaj's stoppage-time strike earned Croatia a thrilling 3-2 victory over Spain in Zagreb to set up a winner takes all Nations League clash with England. Victory at Wembley on Sunday will earn Croatia a place in the inaugural finals of the tournament after the World Cup runners-up responded from two Spain equalisers. Andrej Kramaric put Croatia in front after 54 minutes, but Spain levelled through Dani Ceballos within two minutes. Jedvaj restored the lead, only for Sergio Ramos to convert from the penalty spot after 77 minutes when Sime Vrsaljko was ruled to have handled in the area. Both sides sought a winner, but it was Jedvaj who netted three minutes into added time for Croatia to move on to four points, alongside England and two behind Spain. Spain won the reverse fixture 6-0 in Elche in September and a goalless draw with England last month meant Croatia were still seeking their first goal of the competition. That almost changed after just six minutes when Ivan Rakitic released Ivan Perisic down the left. Perisic cut in on to his right foot and hit a low shot which David de Gea turned on to the post. Next Perisic fizzed a cross towards Kramaric, but the striker could not get a decisive touch to send it goalwards. 😲 Croatia beat Spain in the Nations League tonight!⚽️ Now there's a lot on the line when England face Croatia on Sunday...🤞England win: 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 win group, 🇭🇷 relegatedCroatia win: 🇭🇷 1st, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 relegated0-0 draw: 🇪🇸 1st, 🇭🇷 relegated Score draw: 🇪🇸 1st, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 relegated pic.twitter.com/9c7PufeHvI Spain were second best. Isco shot from the edge of the area, but Lovre Kalinic made a comfortable save to turn the ball over. Croatia capitalised on poor Spanish defending nine minutes into the second half. Ramos put Sergi Roberto under unnecessary pressure on Spain's right flank and the Barcelona right-back's lofted pass was intercepted by Perisic. His header forwards fell kindly for Kramaric and the striker kept his composure to finish well. The lead did not last long. Iago Aspas fed Isco in the left side of the box and the Real Madrid playmaker centred for Caballos, who showed desire to turn the ball in. Rakitic tore through the Spain defence only to blast wide before the visitors spurned a chance to take the lead. Kalinic lost Roberto's cross and Aspas lifted the ball on to the top of the crossbar from close range. Frantic defending saw Isco thwarted after fine interplay with Caballos. Marco Asensio next had an effort blocked. Having absorbed the pressure, it was Croatia who scored next when Luka Modric's pin-point cross was converted at the back post by Jedvaj. Ante Rebic had an effort stopped by De Gea, who saved with his legs. Alvaro Morata was next to be denied. Kalinic saved Isco's shot up into the air and Morata tried to send the rebound goalwards only for Vrsaljko to clear on the line. Within moments, Spain had a penalty when Vrsaljko was adjudged to handled and Ramos scored. The attacks continued, with Kramaric running at Spain. But he opted to shoot, rather than free Perisic. There was still time for Croatia and substitute Josip Brekalo made space for a shot which De Gea saved, but only as far as Jedvaj, who netted to spark celebrations. Michy Batshuayi fired Belgium to the brink of the finals with his brace in a 2-0 home victory over Iceland. The Chelsea striker, on loan at Valencia this season, tucked Thomas Meunier's pass away after the hour mark before making the three points safe in the last 10 minutes. However, Switzerland can still take top spot by beating the Red Devils in Lucerne on Sunday. Austria's goalless draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Vienna had the effect of promoting the Balkan nation and relegating

The ball takes a healthy edge and India draw first blood. Powell departs for 0. Windies are 1/1. Kohli after the toss said, "We would have bowled first as well. I don't think the wicket will change much but the dew is going to be a massive factor in the second innings. It has been overcast for the last few days and there would be something in the wicket for the few overs. If it is too damp or too dry, the spinners will also come into play and there will be some spin. We are playing with the same team." TOSS: It's toss time now and Kohli an Holder look ready here. Windies have won the toss and elected to bat first. In the last match Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 162. He missed out on his fourth double ton. After his innings he said, "I never thought of a double hundred. I just wanted to make sure to get as many runs as possible and get the team into a good position. Rayudu told me that you have got a good chance for a double. The CCI can be tricky in terms of chasing and our bowlers did well in getting them out," he remarked. Pothas, a former South African international himself, said the present Windies team is a good fielding unit. "We put in a lot of detail of what to do in any of our skills. These guys, the last time I checked, they're human beings not robots. So we're going to make errors under pressure. That's the nature of the game. "The thing is to have selective amnesia and come back stronger. I thought we fielded pretty well in the last game." Trailing 1-2 in the series, he said the young Windies team is getting better all the time. "It is a very young team. Not just from an international point of view but a volume of 50-over cricket point of view. I think like anything, when you play at this level, whatever sport it might be, it's always going to come down to execution over a long period of time. "Our guys are learning all the time and they're learning at the international level, which is never easy. But they're getting better all the time and importantly they're open to that learning. Blackburn 2 2 Nottingham Forest Lewis Grabban double denies Rovers
Blackburn 2 2 Nottingham Forest Lewis Grabban double denies Rovers

Blackburn 2-2 Nottingham Forest: Lewis Grabban double denies Rovers. Lewis Grabban scored twice as Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers in an enthralling Sky Bet Championship encounter. In a breathless game, Forest forward Grabban was very much at the centre of proceedings, missing an early penalty, before heading his side into a second-half lead. But Rovers fought back with two goals in a nine-minute spell - Adam Armstrong's cross-cum-shot, and a Bradley Dack tap-in - which looked enough for a win that would have been deserved on the balance of play. Grabban atoned for his earlier penalty miss, though, with a confident spot-kick to secure a point in a game that should have produced even more goals. The sides remain on the same points, with identical win-loss records. Blackburn's unbeaten home league run is now at 25 games, while it is now 11 games since Forest tasted away victory. Paul Downing was handed his first Championship start for Rovers, replacing the suspended Derrick Williams from the victory at Stoke. Forest made three changes from their last league outing, including the returning Jack Colback. Grabban's first taste of the action came in the ninth minute, when Darragh Lenihan conceded a penalty for grappling with Michael Hefele. The striker's effort crashed against the bar and over. It jolted the hosts, who responded with a lovely move that saw Dack cross for Danny Graham, whose controlled volley was parried behind. Colback then saved a certain goal with a stunning diving header off the line to deny Graham, who lofted a shot over Costel Pantilimon that was destined for the net. The hosts continued their dominance of the first half, with a superb effort from Dack that cannoned off the crossbar. Forest took full advantage of that good fortune with a swift counter-attack that saw Joe Lolley's cross cushioned by Joao Carvalho into Grabban's path and he comfortably buried a close-range header. But Rovers were not behind for long and Armstrong equalised 13 minutes later - his cross completely deceived the goalkeeper and looped in off the woodwork. Pantilimon made two outstanding saves to maintain parity, tipping behind Dack's curling free-kick, then palming away Lenihan's thumping header. But Rovers finally hit the front 16 minutes from time when Graham raced to the touchline and laid the ball back on a plate for Dack to tap in his seventh of the season. However, Jack Rodwell's foul on Lolley gave Grabban a shot at redemption in the 80th minute and he took it, perfectly placing in the penalty for his fourth of the season. Forest pressed for a late winner, but David Raya tipped over a rasping Lolley drive late on, as the points were shared. Jeff gave away £1.5m last month. Reading 2-2 Sunderland: Black Cats throw a lead away once again
Reading 2-2 Sunderland: Black Cats throw a lead away once again

At full-time the Sunderland bodies slumped. Hands over faces. Heads down. For the second time in a week, the players knew they had thrown away a lead and were having to settle for a draw in their battle to survive in the Championship.Against Norwich on Tuesday, they were 1-0 up with two minutes left, having missed a penalty before Ivo Pinto equalised for the Canaries. This time though, the Sunderland fans didn't have to wait until the dying seconds of the game for the heartbreak. That came in the 79th minute when Reading's Yann Kermorgant pulled one back with a header to make it 2-2. Reading had taken the lead, and looked the better of the two sides for much of the first half. In the 19th minute they got their reward when Lee Camp spilled a ball into the path of Reading's Jon Bodvarsson. The goalkeeper closed down the angle but in doing so, clattered into the Icelandic international.Referee Stephen Martin awarded a penalty and Liam Kelly smashed it past Camp to give Paul Clement's side a lead.Sunderland pressed forward but everything they tried to do just didn't quite come off. Passes were just an inch too long, crosses were slightly overweighted and Ashley Fletcher hit the post, but Reading were able to keep them at bay until after the break.Whatever Chris Coleman said to his Sunderland team at half-time, it clearly worked as they equalised straight after the interval.Paddy McNair picked the ball up inside the Reading half and with nobody available to take a pass he carried on his cavalier run before pulling the trigger. His effort - from 30 yards out - was speculative and it left Vito Mannone rooted to the spot in the goalmouth as it rippled the back of the net.Strangely it was now Sunderland in the ascendancy and they made that tell with a second goal. The legs may be old, some would say even gone. But that doesn't matter if you score with your head. And that's just what Lee Cattermole did as he glanced in Aiden McGeady's curling free-kick to give the Black Cats the lead. Could they do it? Could they hold on?By then there were 24 minutes to play. They had chances to extend their lead and Reading had opportunities to draw level. The difference was Reading took theirs as Chris Gunter lofted in a delivery and Kermorgant hit home. The bodies slumped to the turf, and the Sunderland players knew that once again they had blown it.
