It is learnt that Rahul has been earmarked as Player 1 by the franchise and will be therefore paid INR 15 crore in accordance with the established fees slab. Stoinis, who has been picked as Player 2, will receive INR 11 crore, and uncapped Ravi Bishnoi INR 4 crore, leaving the franchise with an INR 60 crore purse for the mega auction. Reports: Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill set to join Ahmedabad franchise for IPL 2022 The mega auction for IPL 2022 is a few weeks from getting underway and the two new teams will be revealing three retentions within the deadline of January 22. However, it has been learned that all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill will be joining the Ahmedabad franchise for IPL 2022. The franchise owned by CVC Capitals will have a purse of 90 crores out of which their three retentions are set to cost Rs 15 CR, 11 Cr, and 7 Cr respectively according to the new rules. The Ahmedabad franchise has also nailed down their coaching staff with former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra taking up the role of bowling coach and Gary Kirsten as the head coach. Former England batter Vickram Solanki will also be part of the support staff as he is said to be the director of the side. It will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore. Official communication from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaited, but Cricbuzz can confirm that the IPL officials have called each franchise on Thursday (December 23) to inform them of the dates. During their calls on Thursday morning, the BCCI officials also insisted that the schedule is final despite a clash with an international game - an ODI between India and West Indies. The board assured the franchise that the match will have no bearing on the auction proceedings and both will go ahead as planned. The second One-Day International between India and West Indies is scheduled for February 12 in Kolkata. "It has been clarified to us that the match and auction are two different things and both will go ahead," a franchise official told Cricbuzz after obtaining clarification from the BCCI. If anyone, Star Sports should have a say on this as they are the broadcast rights holders of both the events. It is learnt that Star officials have also been informed about it. A reply from Star is awaited. The BCCI has written to International boards and state associations recently to send in the names of the players to be enrolled for the auction by January 17. The mega event, being held for 10 teams this year, will have more than 1000 players with as many as between 200 to 250 expected to go under the hammer. The IPL officials have further informed the franchises that the formal pre-auction briefing, a normal feature of every auction, will be held on February 11 and has asked them to be in Bangalore by evening that day. In what comes as major news, the IPL Governing Council has decided to conduct the 2022 IPL mega auction in the first week of February, after extending the deadline for the draft pick for the two new franchises. According to Cricket.com, the IPL GC has already given the details to all the teams. However, the lack of clarity regarding a final decision on the CVC Sports’ association in the IPL has propelled the board to delay the auction process. The report further stated that the auction is all set to be a two-day affair, just like the other mega auctions in the past. As a matter of fact, with the addition of two new teams, the 2022 mega auction is going to be bigger than the one which took place in 2018. As per the reports, KL Rahul, who wasn’t retained by Punjab Kings, is likely to lead the Lucknow-based team. Rashid Khan are Ishan Kishan are the other two players who’ll accompany the 29-year-old. As far as the Ahmedabad franchise is concerned, Shreyas Iyer, who parted ways with Delhi Capitals, would lead them. While Hardik Pandya is the other player picked in the team, either Quinton de Kock or David Warner would be the other pick in the team. For the unversed, the two new franchises are allowed to make a maximum of three picks from the list of non-retained players ahead of the next season’s bidding event. As a mega auction is in the pipeline, teams were allowed to retain just a maximum of four players, out of which only two can be foreign retentions. Hence, Lucknow and Ahmedabad have a lot of options to choose from. While the deadline to finalize the picks in December 25, sources close to ABP news have revealed that the players and even the captain is selected. It is learnt that a retired judge of the Supreme Court has been consulted and his advice is being awaited. One notable development that has come to light recently is that the expert advice has gone against awarding the franchise to the second-highest bidder, should the BCCI decide to cancel the allocation of the franchise to the American investment firm. The BCCI, apparently, will have to go for rebidding, which may offset a lot of the IPL planning.
