Instant Reaction: Michigan Wolverines defeats the Maryland Terrapins 83-64
In a must win game the Michigan Wolverines carried some momentum over from their strong effort, albeit a losing one, from their Illinois game and played a solid half of basketball, holding Maryland to 19 first half points and leading by 20. The 2nd half showed a return to Michigan's normal pattern of giving up too many makeable shots but the Wolverine offense was able to make enough shots to maintain their lead. The Michigan attack was led by Hunter Dickinson who had 21 pts, 6 rebs, 6 ast (a new personal record). Houstan, Diabate and Jones also scored in double figures.
Instant Reaction: Michigan's men's basketball collapses against the UCF Knights 85-71
The Michigan Wolverines ventured on the road for their last non-conference game of the year, after a tight first half Michigan used a 9-1 run to start the 2nd half, went up by 12 and forced UCF to call a TO. From that point EVERYTHING went right for the Knights. Spurned on by Green's and Mahan's combined 53 points, UCF went on a 40-19 run (including going 8-8 on 3s in the 2nd half) to completely flip the game around. Whatever Michigan did defensively was ineffective and the Knights rode that momentum (along with an outstanding home crowd atmosphere) to hand the Wolverines a terribly disappointing loss. In a pattern similar to the Minnesota game, the Wolverines could do nothing to stop hot shooters. Offensively, Michigan had 4 starters in double figures but Houstan went 0-7 with1 pt as his freshman season continues the pattern of feast or famine, and outside of Bufkin's 8 pts, the Michigan bench only had 2 other points.

Michigan vs. Prairie View A&M Basketball Highlights & Analysis
Michigan out-skilled, out-sized, and simply out-played the Panthers of Prairie View A&M on Saturday night. The Wolverines had success in just about all facets of the game, getting involvement from the usual contributors like Eli Brooks, Hunter Dickinson, as well as success from newcomers Devonte Jones & Caleb Houstan. Juwan Howard played with a flurry of different line-up combinations, resulting in true freshman Kobe Bufkin getting extended play, resulting in an 8 point performance. Though a bit quieter than his first couple performances, fellow true freshman Moussa Diabate had another stand-out defensive performance and showed his strength on the boards, picking up 8 rebounds on the day. Cunningham Comes Through in Crunch Time; Michigan Basketball Shows Depth vs Buffalo
The Pistons got a huge road win in a heated contest vs. Jalen Green and the Rockets. Cunningham showed improvement and confidence, and there is a lot to like about where his game is headed. Bey and Grant also stepped up, as usual. If the offensive flow and chemistry can improve, this team can build some confidence going into 2022-23. As for Michigan, they held off a big run from Buffalo to win 88-76. Moussa Diabite and Caleb Houstan look as good as advertised, and they will add a lot of depth to a team that is already laden with talent. I expect the defense to get better, but Howard has proven that he can improve a team over the season. I anticipate a lot of wins.
Michigan vs. Wayne State Basketball Highlights & Analysis
The Michigan Wolverines picked up a comfortable 87-54 victory over Wayne State in the first live-action game in front of fans. Despite 17 turnovers and a couple stretches where Wayne State had extended runs against the Wolverines, Michigan put together a 21-0 flurry towards the end of the first half to build a large margin and put the game away early. It was the first time fans got to sneak a peak at true freshmen five-star players Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate in a Michigan uniform. Despite Houston starting and having a solid outing, Diabate's tantalizing talent stole the show. With a team-high 14 points, the towering freshman showed there's substance to the offseason chatter within the program ahead of this season.
