West Indies won the toss in the first match and decided to bat first. Courtesy of Ashwin India restricted the hosts to just 150 runs in the first innings. After this the Indians put forward a solid and resilient batting effort. Riding on the brilliant starts provided by the openers India managed to put forward a brilliant and solid batting effort posting a total of 425 runs for the loss of five wickets before declaring the innings. In the second innings the Ashwin magic worked again and India dismissed West Indies for just 130 runs this time. With that India won the match by an innings and 141 runs. The visitors will look to maintain the momentum and win this match thus winning the series by a 2-0 margin in the process. This will give Rohit Sharma and his men a brilliant start to the 2023-25 WTC cycle. On the other hand West Indies will try to comeback and walk away with prestige at the end of this clash. As India stand on the brink of another series win in West Indies they'd be resting easy given their commanding performance in the opener. So much so that even a transitioning Indian team start as favorites once again in Trinidad. It has been 21 years since West Indies last failed to lose a Test series against India and with the odds heavily stacked against them once more the hosts would be pleased if they do manage to square the series. It'd be easier said than done for West Indies' batting woes were only exacerbated in Dominica where the conditions too were right up the alley of India's masterful spinners. The challenge in Trinidad could be different if the hosts decide to back their strengths which has been the pace attack over the last few years. The tone usually set by skipper Kraigg at the top has been off-key. Brathwaite was done in twice adding to the four times previously by Ashwin in the first Test leaving a rocky ship without an anchor. India Team News: Having won the first Test handsomely India aren't hard-pressed to make any changes. R Ashwin's performance in that game would all but rule out any thought of going in with a lone spinner. The choice for the third seamer though could still be up for debate with the likes of Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar waiting in the sidelines. West Indies Team News: It is likely given the conditions that West Indies pick an extra pacer instead of two spinners which could pave the way back for Shannon Gabriel who was benched for the first game. Additionally the toss up for the lone spinner's slot will be a toss up between newbie Kevin Sinclair who has been picked with Rahkeem Cornwall staying on albeit a chest infection in the first Test. With Raymon Reifer dropped they could also hand out a cap to Kirk McKenzie. What to expect: In contrast to the first Test at Dominica where spin played a part and had a big say in the outcome of the game this ground has favoured the pacers more over the last decade. With rain expected over the course of the match it could dictate selection calls for both teams. This will be the 100th Test between India and West Indies Since 2021 no bowler has taken more wickets in Tests than R Ashwin who has 111 to his name. Pitch Report: The Queen’s Park Oval track is more favorable to bowlers than batters. Pacers will enjoy bowling on this ground due to the pace and bounce on offer. Early swing can also trouble the batters. Teams winning the toss might choose to bat with the average first innings score being 251. India vs West Indies 1st Test Day 2 Live Scores This Match Will be Played at Windsor Park Roseau Dominica from 12th July to 16th July 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.30pm From Indian Standard time. Rahkeem Cornwall faced some issues with his ankle yesterday and walked off the field after bowling only four overs. It remains to be seen whether he takes the field today. He will play a crucial role for the hosts as he is one of the spinners along with Jomel Warrican who will certainly get some assistance from the surface as the game progresses. India are in a commanding position at the start of day two of this opening Test match of the two-match series. West Indies won the toss and that was the only thing that went their way on the first day. Their batters got starts but literally threw away their wickets and got bundled out on 150 in just 64.3 overs. Alick Athanaze looked composed at the crease but missed out on his maiden Test fifty by three runs on his debut. Indian bowlers were brilliant and kept the hosts under pressure. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled beautifully and picked up a fifer. Ravindra Jadeja also grabbed three wickets. India then had a solid response thanks to Rohit Sharma and debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal. They put 80 between them for the first wicket with both Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal remaining unbeaten on 30 and 40 respectively at the end of the first day. West Indies have failed to create chances on the opening day and will have to come out with better plans today. The Indian side will be hoping to bat long and rule the hosts out of this Test by piling up runs in their first innings. A long day awaits the hosts if they fail to pick wickets in the morning session. Let’s see how things unfold for both sides on the second day of this Test. That's the end of the opening day of the 1st Test between West Indies and India. A brilliant day of Test cricket for India as they bundle out the hosts for 150 despite losing the toss and go back in the hut without a dent adding 80 runs for the first wicket. Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin combined to take eight wickets including the final two in the evening session to bundle out the hosts for 150 with the debutant Alick Athanaze top scoring with 47. Ashwin broke a few records to register his 33rd Test 5 wicket haul also passing the 700 wickets mark in international cricket. After bundling out the Windies for 150 India's latest opening pair Yashasvi Jaiswal (40*) and Rohit Sharma (30*) batted well to add 80 runs. There were a couple of close appeals and a review as well taken against Rohit Sharma but the umpire's call which was initially not out saved the India skipper early in his innings. The game was also interrupted for 5 minutes due to rain but it didn't impact much to the India openers. Jaiswal took his time to get off the mark but did so in style playing an upper cut on his 16th delivery and did not look back hitting six fours enroute his unbeaten knock. Quick bowlers Jason Holder and Kemar Roach alongside Jomel Warrican kept things tight for India but the openers have brought the trail down to just 70 runs. Pitch Report: The track at Windsor Park is more favorable to bowlers than it is to batters. Spinners are going to play an important role in the match with the pitch offering some turn and bounce for them. Batters who can counter spin well certainly have better chances to do well here. Teams winning the toss would choose to bat first with the average first innings score being 249. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. India vs Australia 3rd ODI Live This Match Will be Played at MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai on 22nd March 2023 This Match Will Start at 1.30pm From Indian Standard time. With the series levelled at one-all the decider promises to be a nail-biter. After securing a five-wicket victory in the first ODI in Mumbai India suffered a crushing ten-wicket defeat in Visakhapatnam. Although the outcomes of both matches were exactly the opposite the Indian team had a common and familiar nemesis a top-order collapse. And guess who the wrecker-in-chief for Australia was? It was none other than Mitchell Starc who ripped the hosts apart through his incredible skills with the new ball. Also the Indian bowlers were no match to their counterparts in the second game as the Australian openers took only eleven overs to chase the meagre target of 118 runs. Mitchell Marsh took on the hosts' bowling unit once again slamming his second consecutive fifty of the series. So moving on to this game India must find solutions to their problems with special emphasis on countering Starc and Marsh. Despite being drubbed in Mumbai Australia bounced back in style decimating the hosts by ten wickets to stay alive in the series. While Mitchell Starc has breathed fire to torment the Indian top order Mitchell Marsh has come out with all guns blazing with the bat to keep the Indians at bay. Furthermore Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis also had a terrific time with the ball and would like to sustain their prolific run in the series. However the focus will be on Steve Smith Glenn Maxwell and Marnus Labuschagne who recorded failures in Mumbai and will therefore look to conclude the tour on a high note. Stats: - Steve Smith is 51 runs away from 5000 ODI runs. He is also one century short of equalling Ricky Ponting for most ODI 100s against India for Australia. - Virat Kohli has had extreme fortune at Chepauk. In seven ODI innings there he has two fifties one hundred and four single-digit scores. Team news India: If the team management have workload concerns with a WTC final coming up Umran Malik could be in for Mohammed Shami. Malik spent a considerable amount of time bowling on Tuesday. Washington Sundar offers variety in finger spin and is a local but the decision to bring him in for another finger spinner will not be straightforward. Team news Australia: Nathan Ellis did not have a clue on Warner's fitness update at the pre-match press conference but the opening batter spent around half an hour taking throwdowns from the support staff in scorching heat. He didn't look in too much discomfort and even practiced running between the wickets. To accommodate him though Australia will have to put one of their all-rounders on the bench. What to expect: Rahul Dravid called the wheat brown strip in Chennai a 'good wicket' on the eve of the game which can be code for a batting belter. After a tough Mumbai surface and a poor batting performance in Vizag the series is perhaps due a big-scoring finale. A hot sweltering day is in the offing with a slight chance of rain but nothing heavy enough to disrupt the game. Pitch Report: When the pitches were uncovered and unattended to it used to help the fast bowlers. However since India started playing the spin quartet of Bishan Singh Bedi BS Chandrasekar S Venkatraghavan and EAS Prasanna the wickets were made spin-friendly. Among the top 10 wicket-takers at the ground nine of them are spinners and the only fast bowler on the list is Kapil Dev. Anil Kumble sits on top of the list with 48 wickets followed closely by Harbhajan Singh - 42 wickets. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. Though there was not a single fifty-plus score from the batting side they managed to cross the 250-run mark. Earlier in the match Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. Again Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head gave the team a head start adding 68 runs for the first wicket. The dark memories of Vizag was looming around Team India when these two were going all guns blazing. But Hardik Pandya’s fiery spell turned things around for them as he dismissed Head (33 off 31) Steven Smith (0 off 3) and Marsh (47 off 47) in the span of 28 balls to reduce the visitors to 85/3. Then David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne tried to rebuild the innings with a 40-run stand for the fourth wicket. In trying to take on Kuldeep Yadav both Warner (23 off 31) and Labuschagne (28 off 45) were holed out in the deep. At 138/5 Australia were again under pressure and it was the partnership between Alex Carey and Marcus Stoinis worth 58 runs for the sixth wicket and took the team closer to the 200-run mark. The Men in Yellow were under deep waters once again when both Stoinis and Carey went back to the pavilion. While Stoinis (25 off 26) was taken care of by Axar Patel Carey (38 off 46) was undone by a ripper of a delivery from Kuldeep. The lower-order batters Sean Abbott and Ashton Agar added an useful 42-run partnership for the 8th wicket to take the team closer to 250. Axar broke this stand by clattering the stumps of Abbott (26 off 23). Three balls later Mohammed Siraj removed Agar (17 off 21) to push Australia on the verge of an all-out. Mitchell Starc (10 off 11) and Adam Zampa (10* off 11) didn't throw their wickets away stitching 22 runs for the last wicket. Siraj did the job for India in the last ball of the 49th over to put an end to the Australian innings and celebrate his 100th international wicket. From the bowling point of view Hardik Pandya was the successful bowler with the figures of 8-0-44-3. He was well supported by Kuldeep Yadav who also scalped three wickets but went for 56 runs in his full quota. Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj picked a couple of wickets as well. Can India chase it down and win the series or will Australia defend this and take the series home? Kuldeep Yadav: "Thank You sir. Very simple. The wicket is slow. So bowled with pace and kept it tight with variations. Yes those were great wickets and The Carey wicket I enjoyed the most. No I am just working on it. Bowl wicket to wicket and then you can get caught behind and the top edge can get you wickets. I bowled with a lot of seam up balls. Yes the way they started I thought 300 was coming. But Hardik bowled well and we kept them down to 269. But I feel we have to bat well and not lose wickets to chase this down. This won't be easy for sure. But I back our batters to get the job done." India vs Australia 2nd ODI Live This Match Will be Played at Dr. Y.S. It's a must-win game for Australia as a loss here will lead them to a series defeat. Meanwhile India will aim at securing another win and claiming the series. India had a clinical outing in the first ODI in Mumbai crushing the visitors by five wickets. Riding on a sensational bowling performance especially from Mohammed Shami the hosts restricted their counterparts to a paltry 188 and later chased the total courtesy of a match-winning 108-run stand between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. But the struggle of their top-order against the moving ball was evident as Shubman Gill Ishan Kishan Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav departed for low scores. However the Men in Blue will back themselves to turn things around in the second game as their batting lineup will get a massive boost with regular skipper Rohit Sharma rejoining the squad. On the contrary Australia had a forgettable game in Mumbai and will be desperate to restore parity by winning this match. Although most of their batters got out cheaply Mitchell Marsh passed the Indian challenge with flying colours amassing an aggressive 65-ball 81 including ten fours and five humongous sixes. So moving on to this fixture the Australian think tank would like better returns from their key batters- Travis Head Steve Smith Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. Meanwhile their bowling unit led by Mitchell Starc received accolades as they made a match out of such a sub-par total. However despite reducing India to 39 for four the visitors allowed Rahul and Jadeja to consolidate something they should rectify in this do-or-die game. So can Australia stay alive in the series? Team news India: With only a day between the games India had no scheduled practice session on the eve of the game. Rohit Sharma is expected to lead the side after missing the first ODI due to personal commitments. India could rest Mohammed Shami who had a long bowl in the fourth Test and bowled full tilt in the first ODI. Team news Australia: Alex Carey missed the first ODI due to illness but is expected to be back for this one. David Warner who was sidelined with concussion and hairline fracture of the elbow is also likely to return and which middle order batter he could squeeze out is anybody's guess. There's certainly pressure on Marnus Lanuschagne to deliver; the batter has averaged a shade over 33 in his 21 innings at No.4 a batting position Australia are keen to get right. What to expect: Scattered thunderstorms are forecast in the afternoon so a rain-curtailed game cannot be ruled out. The pitches here have tended to be very good for shot making and India amassed 387/5 against the West Indies here in 2019. Five out the eight men's ODIs here have ended in favour of the chasing side with one match tied. Pitch Conditions: Historically it is known for producing belters where batsmen can play through the line on even-paced wickets. However in recent times spinners have made their mark. It can be exemplified by some low-scoring games in the 2013-14 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. India vs Australia 1st ODI Live This Match Will be Played at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai on 17th March 2023 This Match Will Start at 1.30pm From Indian Standard time. The match will be taking place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday 17th March. The encounter is scheduled to start from 1:30 PM IST. After a very competitive Test series the two teams will now be battling it out in the fifty-over format. This series will be a serious ground for the two teams to test themselves out and also their bench strength for the upcoming ODI World Cup later this year. The last time these two teams met in the ODI format was back in 2020 on Australia's home turf. The Aussies managed to win that series by a margin of 2-1. The Indians will be up for redemption this time around and we are all set for three exciting contests ahead of us between two of the top teams in the world. India Team News: Shreyas Iyer will not be available for selection because of injury. Also India will miss the services of Rohit Sharma in this match as he is unavailable for selection because of personal reasons. Australia Team News: Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the ODI series due to personal reasons. Ground Stats: The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium will favour the batters in general. It has a tendency to slow down with the progression of the match but as this is a day-night match this can be counted out. Out of the last five matches that have been played at this venue four have been won by the team batting second. The recent stats might well prompt the skipper winning the toss to field first. Interestingly India have lost the last three ODI that they have played here. The last encounter was against Australia in 2020 where India faced a defeat by ten wickets. Numbers at the ground (Overall ODIS): Total Matches: 27 - Matches won batting first: 13 - Matches won batting second: 14 - Average score batting first: 240 - Average score batting second: 201 With an intense Border-Gavaskar Trophy behind them and a World Test Championship final well ahead India and Australia switch formats and begin preparation for another ICC tournament coming at the end of this year. For former winners and forever aspirants of the 50-over title the series is an apt starting point to tune-up. With the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel returning India go into the series with a near full-strength squad and a chance to try different combinations in the lead up to the World Cup where they play nine bilateral ODIs and an Asia Cup. Australia are missing skipper Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood but they too have the opportunity to figure out the balance of their side in the actual World Cup conditions in India. After the three ODIs there they have five games in South Africa before playing three more in India again in September. Besides starting on the right note in preparation for the showpiece event at home India also have Wankhede form to overturn. They've lost their previous three ODIs there with their last win coming in 2011. Australia meanwhile can take a leaf out of their 2020 performance at the venue where they pummeled India - with seven of those in the playing XI that day present in the current squad. What to expect: A true surface and high scores. The results at this venue are almost equally distributed between teams batting first and bowling first (13 to 14 respectively). Australia resumed the third session at 71/1 with Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne negating the spinners well. The duo continued to pile on the runs and added 96 runs for the second wicket. Ravindra Jadeja redeemed himself by dismissing the Labuschagne with Australia trailing by just 1 run. Khawaja was brilliant with his gritty half-century. He was out playing the sweep against Jadeja. The quality left-arm spinner continued his good performance and blew the stand-in Aussie Test skipper (Smith) with a beauty. Australia were 156/4 after 54 overs at stumps with Peter Handscomb and Cameron Green keeping their wickets intact and have a handy lead of 47 runs. For India except Jadeja no one came close to picking a wicket and he finished the day with a four-wicket haul. Earlier in the Aussie first innings the openers Travis Head and Usman Khawaja attacked right from ball one. But Head was trapped plumb infront by Ravindra Jadeja just in the second over. Then Marnus Labuschagne and Khawaja played spin unbelievably well to take the team through to tea break without any further damage. However Labuschagne chopped one on to the stumps when he was at zero but Jadeja became the culprit for overstepping. India even burnt a couple of reviews in the urge of getting a breakthrough. A few overs later Ashwin trapped Labuschagne infront but Rohit Sharma wasn’t in favour of going upstairs. Even Rohit’s captaincy was way below par as he didn’t keep attacking field. Opting to bat first earlier in the day India were in deep waters from the get-go. However a couple of lucky reprieves for the Indian skipper in the first over didn't prove costly for the visitors. The Indian openers added 27 runs for the first wicket but once Rohit Sharma was out in an attempt to play a reckless shot in this rank turner the collapse began. India lost wickets in clusters and were at 84/7 at Lunch. Virat Kohli and Srikar Bharat did add a few handy runs but couldn't negate the spinners for a much longer period. Umesh Yadav smashed a couple of lusty blows on his comeback to steer the team over the score of 100 runs. Mohammed Siraj was the final man to bite the dust as a miscommunication between him and Axar Patel ended the Indian innings. For Australia Matthew Kuhnemann was the pick of the Aussie bowlers with the figures of 9-2-16-5 while Nathan Lyon picked three wickets. Usman Khawaja: "I played to my plans. Scored runs whenever there was a scoring opportunity. I was batting with Marnus good partnership to get. It was tough to bat with the new ball. Not an easy wicket to get runs. It was spinning out there. We will get to know better about the pitch tomorrow. It is hard to tell on Day 1. It was difficult time to bat throughout the time and we're not expecting to get any better. If that's how I can put it. I sweep on the length. If the line of an off-spinner goes down the leg then I sweep on the line. I used the sweep more intermittently. It is good to have the sweep in your arsenal. You keep guessing I tried to make the bowlers keep guessing as well. A bit of cat and mouse. It is dictated by the wicket. How the bowlers are bowling to you. The plan is always to score runs as long as you're there. I try to do that." Session Breakdown on day 1: Session 1: 84 runs 7 wickets 26 overs. Session 2: 96 runs 4 wickets 29.2 overs. Session 3: 85 runs 3 wickets 32 overs. Overall in the day a total of 265 runs for the loss of 14 wickets in 87.2 overs.
