FALLECIÓ JUAN IZQUIERDO: DOLOR EN EL FÚTBOL
Nacional confirmó el fallecimiento de Juan Izquierdo, el defensor que cayó desplomado en la visita a San Pablo por la vuelta de los octavos de final de la Copa Libertadores 2024. Luego del suceso del pasado jueves, el jugador de 27 años murió a causa del daño neurológico que le provocó el paro cardíaco que sufrió en pleno campo de juego del Morumbí. El zaguero central, que ingresó en el entretiempo del partido en reemplazo de Sebastián Coates, batalló contra el daño neurológico que se le generó tras superar inicialmente el cuadro coronario y falleció este martes por la noche en el hospital israelita Albert Einstein de San Pablo, en compañía de su familia y la delegación del Bolso presente en la clínica. Fue la propia institución montevideana la que dio a conocer el deceso del defensor, en un comunicado oficial en sus canales de comunicación. "Con el más profundo dolor e impacto en nuestros corazones, el Club Nacional de Football comunica el fallecimiento de nuestro querido jugador Juan Izquierdo. Expresamos nuestras más sinceras condolencias a su familia, amigos, colegas y allegados. Todo Nacional está de luto por su pérdida irreparable. QEPD. Juan, estarás para siempre con nosotros", expresó el club que cambió su logo para añadir el crespón negro en señal de luto.

El presidente de Nacional, Alejandro Balbi, habló sobre la situación de salud del defensa Juan Izquierdo, que se descompensó durante el partido entre Nacional y São Paulo por los octavos de final de la Copa Libertadores, se desmayó dentro del campo de juego y debió ser retirado en ambulancia. El jugador sufrió una arritmia cardíaca que lo hizo desplomarse durante el partido y fue trasladado al Hospital Albert Einstein para que se le realicen distintos estudios. Al momento de la conferencia del presidente de Nacional el jugador se encontraba sedado en cuidados intensivos. "Perdió el conocimiento y ahora está sedado. Los médicos dicen que podría llevar unos días el proceso evolutivo y no solo ver las eventuales secuelas que pueda tener desde lo físico, sino también para conocer los motivos y las causas del episodio cardíaco", dijo Balbi. Parte de la delegación de Nacional volvió a Montevideo mientras que algunos referentes del equipo retrasaron su retorno a Uruguay para estar presentes en la ciudad brasilera. "Es engorroso que de una delegacion de 50 personas se quedaran todos. En el hospital no pueden estar y en el CTI no dejan entrar acompañantes", declaró el presidente.
