The nation’s top high school wide receiver is staying in Texas. Evan Stewart, the third-ranked player nationally in the class of 2022 per 247, announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Monday night. Stewart, 6-0, 175 pounds, played four games for Frisco Liberty (10-2) this season, before he chose to forgo the remainder of the season to focus on “mentally and physically preparing” himself for college football. He caught 19 passes for 414 yards and two touchdowns as a senior, and caught 46 passes for 913 yards and nine touchdowns last season. A multi-time state champion in track and field, Stewart held offers from high major programs including Alabama, Texas, LSU and Oklahoma. Stewart is Texas A&M’s 19th commit in the class of 2022, and its second-highest ranked pledge behind Walter Nolan, an offensive lineman from Tennessee and the nation’s No. 2 ranked player.
