A barrage of untimely injuries left the Horned Frogs reeling, with just six available players last week. Thus, TCU had no choice but to forfeit games scheduled for Wednesday and Saturday against Kansas State and Iowa State, respectively. “It is simply not a safe environment for the student-athletes to compete right now,” TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati said in a statement last Thursday. The Horned Frogs have since added Sarah Sylvester — a middle blocker on the school’s volleyball team and a high school basketball player — as a preferred walk-on. The program also held open tryouts last week.

This 16 year old professional football player was subbed out 13 seconds into the match and it wasn’t because he made a mistake or because the coach was mad, the actual reason was much, much weirder. It’s 2020 and the Estonian Premier League is still playing matches during the pandemic. The 16 year old Lauri Suup was one of the starting defenders for Nomme Kalju FC before the match was stopped after 13 seconds and he was taken off the field. It turns out that the rules in the Estonia Premier League state that each side must start the game with at least 2 players born in Estonia. At that time, most of Kalju’s players were unavailable as a result of testing positive for COVID-19. In order to not forfeit, they needed to call upon Lauri to start the game in order to meet the minimum player requirements. In all fairness, he did do his job.
