Rally Croatia: High Speed Highlights From Day 1 | WRC 2021

He won three to lead this third round of the FIA World Rally Championship by 7.4sec at mid-leg service in his Hyundai i20. World champion Sébastien Ogier fought back this afternoon when the tests were repeated. He won three in a row, the middle of which marked his 600th WRC stage victory, to overhaul Toyota Yaris team-mate Elfyn Evans for second. Neuville ended 7.7sec clear of the Frenchman, with Evans three-tenths back in third. Such was the fast and furious pace at Croatia’s WRC debut that both Neuville and Ogier survived close calls. Neuville’s i20 was pitched onto two wheels after hitting a bank in the final test, while Ogier escaped after clouting the banking in the opener. Kalle Rovanperä suffered more than both. The youngest driver ever to lead the WRC at 20 drifted wide on a right bend 5.4km into the opening Rude – Plešivica test where Ogier was so fortunate. His Yaris plunged down a bank, coming to rest against a tree and the car was damaged too severely to restart tomorrow. “It was the last downhill section which was really slippery. I lost the car already in the entry of the corner, I never made the proper racing line and we went straight off. A bit too much speed and understeer and that’s the result, my mistake,” Rovanperä admitted. Although it was dry and warm, the stages south-west of capital city Zagreb became increasingly slippery as drivers cutting corners dragged gravel onto the asphalt. Rovanperä’s demise left Neuville to open the roads with the best grip. “It was a tough day for everybody,” said Neuville. “This morning when Kalle went off, our main goal was to try to benefit from a good road position and try to make some gap to the others which we managed to do. This afternoon I tried to extend, but struggled a bit in some places when there was a lot of gravel.” Evans was sandwiched by Neuville and Ogier before sliding to third in the closing stage, having prevented a Neuville clean sweep this morning by winning SS3. Ott Tänak was the only driver to choose Pirelli’s hard compound P Zero tyres solely this morning and the Estonian could not get the best out of them in his i20. Set-up changes improved his feeling this afternoon and he won one stage, without ever being comfortable. He ended fourth, 31.9sec behind Neuville and 22.9sec clear of a deflated Craig Breen, who never found his rhythm on his first all-asphalt WRC rally since 2018. Adrien Fourmaux was buzzing after an impressive drive to sixth in a Ford Fiesta in his top-flight debut. Saturday’s second leg is the longest of the weekend at 121.92km. It is based in the same area as today, traversing stunning springtime scenery in the Žumberak nature park. Four morning stages are repeated in the afternoon after service in Zagreb. Regular Season Game 33 of 72: The Always Helpful Reggie Jackson
The Los Angeles Clippers enjoyed a rather easy win on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards. While it did get close late in the third quarter, the Clippers weren’t in as much danger as people probably thought. One of the reasons the Clippers looked as good as they did was due to the play of reserve guard Reggie Jackson, who finished with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes. Jackson was a plus-18, which was good for third-best on the team. Jackson’s ability to be a distributor, downhill guard, catch-and-shoot threat and solid defender has given the Clippers life throughout the season. It seems only right to highlight the things that Jackson did well on both ends of the floor during Tuesday’s win, so that’s what we did here. Enjoy and stay safe! My new portable airbag setup is insane - Urban MTB freeride just got next level!! I ride my new mini airbag landing for the first time using my MTB hopper kicker ramp and my custom Haibike dirt jump bike, would you send it? The guys at MTB hopper kicker ramps have hooked me up with this not so mini portable airbag landing for my mountain bike which is actually the best thing ever, so today I get it unpacked and blow it up for its first test ride. This is a game changer in the world of urban MTB freeride because now we can make the spots even better out in crazy random locations all over the place! I decided to use my custom Haibike dirt jump bike for the day because it's the best bike for doing big tricks and jumps on. I start the video by opening the bag jump at home and blow it up in the front garden to reveal how big the jump really is and I was surprised at how tall it was! After checking it out and learning how to use we head into town and find a quiet spot to get the session started and get to work at building the kicker ramp and sorting out the airbag. Thumbs up, comment, share. - 2004 NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals Indiana Pacers vs Detroit Pistons Full Series Defensive Highlights Baskets included in this video are ones in which the defensive play led directly to the transition/fast-break score. - The 2004 Eastern Conference Finals featured 2 mid-2000’s heavyweights whose styles of play exemplified the opposite of what today’s NBA advertises. It’s not a coincidence that the series included the current (at time) and previous season’s Defensive Player of the Year Award winners. The 03-04 campaign saw both Rick Carlisle’s league best 61-win Indiana Pacers and Larry Brown’s 54-win Detroit Pistons finish top 3 in defensive rating (points allowed per 100 possessions). Both squads also placed amidst the bottom 10 in pace (estimate number of possessions per 48 minutes). These metrics went hand in hand. Energy expended by prioritizing defense meant conservative slower paced efforts offensively. For the Pacers and Pistons, wasted offensive possessions were not the resultant of an aggressive, physical, no easy baskets, rebound treasuring approach. Detroit ranked 12th in turnovers per game, close to league average. Indiana placed 21st, quite impressive. The Pistons’ valuing of possessions is best reflected in their three-point attempts. Brown’s team finished the regular season 26th in that department, a tad under 12 per game. They had capable shooters, but were deliberate in not falling into that trap. Manufacturing quality opportunities inside the arc was more their nature. Utilized heavily was Rip’s midrange lethality, Chauncey’s ability to create downhill or size up smaller point guards, and the Wallace Bros’ bucket finishing aptitude down low. Designed to limit opponents offensively, both clubs were successful during the regular season. When challenged with the task of facing each other, one of the grimiest, most unattractive and deemed by many “hard to watch” playoff matchups in league history ensued. The highest point total in this series was 85. At least 1 of the team’s scored under 70 in 4 of the 6 games. And besides Rip’s 33 point outburst in game 5, not 1 player scored over 24. Statistically speaking, its peak level of defensive excellence came in game 2 when a combined 26 shot attempts were blocked, the most ever by two teams in a playoff game. Doc said it best mid-way through, “The guys are getting to the bucket, they’re making great plays, but the defense right now is better than the offense.” The series concluding game 6 totaled 134 points (69-65), the 2nd lowest combined playoff score since 1954. For the series, Detroit managed only 75.2 PPG while shooting an abysmal 37.3% from the field. Using basketballreference.com, I determined that both averages are the lowest among all winning teams of a 21st century playoff series (300 total series have been played since the 2000-01 season). Boston’s 83.0 PPG in their 2002 Semi-Final win against Detroit and Toronto’s 39.3% FG in their 2016 first round victory over Indiana rank 2nd in those respective statistical categories.
