Nebraska Softball Wins the Big Ten Tournament
Press Release Courtesy of Nebraska Athletics- The No. 2 Nebraska softball team won its second Big Ten title of the season, notching a 7-2 victory over the No. 6 UCLA Bruins in the 2026 Big Ten Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon in College Park, Md. Nebraska also won the 2026 Big Ten regular-season title, as it posted a 23-1 record in Big Ten play this season. This is the Huskers’ second Big Ten Tournament title since joining the conference, as NU also won in 2022. It is the ninth time in school history that the Big Red has won a regular-season and tournament championship in the same season. The title marks the 22nd overall conference title and 11th conference tournament title in school history. NU now sits at 46-6 on the season, while UCLA fell to 47-8. Hannah Camenzind logged the two-RBI single that gave NU the lead in the third inning, while Ava Kuszak and Kacie Hoffmann added home runs. Emmerson Cope, Jesse Farrell and Samantha Bland contributed hits. Jordy Frahm (18-4) grabbed the win in the circle, as she threw a complete game with five hits, two runs and eight strikeouts. UCLA struck first with a run in each of the second and third innings. NU posted a three-run bottom of the third. Cope opened the inning with a single and Kennadi Williams pinch ran for her. Hoffmann was hit by a pitch and Katelyn Caneda pinch ran for her. With Williams on second and Caneda on first, L. Camenzind sac bunted to put runners in scoring position. Frahm was intentionally walked but called out due to runner’s interference on a Coor fielder’s choice. H. Camenzind singled to send Williams, Caneda and Coor across the plate and give NU a 3-2 edge. In the bottom of the fourth, Bland singled and Hoffmann knocked a two-run shot to right field to extend the lead to 5-2. Kuszak added a homer in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 6-2. Jesse Farrell singled and Bland walked before a Hoffmann groundout put runners on second and third. L. Camenzind reached on an error that also scored Nessa McMillen, who pinch ran for Farrell and stretched the lead to 7-2. Jordy Frahm was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, and Samantha Bland, Hannah Camenzind and Alexis Jensen were all named to the All-Tournament Team. Nebraska will find out its postseason fate at the NCAA Softball Selection Show, which is set to air at 6 p.m. (CT) on ESPN2 tomorrow, May 10. NU will host a watch party for fans with players and coaches at Bowlin Stadium. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and admission is free. Notes This is the ninth time in program history that Nebraska has won the conference regular season and tournament titles in the same season. This is NU’s 11th conference tournament championship and 22nd overall conference championship. It is Nebraska’s second Big Ten Tournament title. The Huskers have nine wins over ranked teams this year. Nebraska now has a 21-game win streak, which is the longest active win streak in the country. NU is now 13-10 in Big Ten Tournaments and 72-45 in conference tournaments. Nebraska Hosting Iowa Big Ten Baseball Weekend Series Preview
The Nebraska baseball team is looking to bounce back after a difficult weekend at Ohio State, where the Huskers were swept in a three-game series. Nebraska entered that series ranked No. 16 nationally but has since dropped to No. 25 in the D1Baseball poll and No. 24 in the coaches poll. The shift in rankings carries postseason implications, as the top 16 teams in the country typically host an NCAA regional. While that goal remains within reach, the Huskers will likely need a strong finish to the regular season. Nebraska begins that push this weekend with its final home series at Haymarket Park against Iowa. “Kind of just flushing it and leaving it in Ohio,” Short Stop Dylan Carrey said. “There’s no reason to think about it when we’re at home and have an opportunity this next week.” The Huskers emphasized regrouping after the series, focusing on both corrections and positives. “It wasn’t how we wanted it to go,” Pitcher Jalen Worthley said. “It was pretty sloppy all around, but you learn from it. You don’t want to dwell on it too much, but you do want to acknowledge what you’re doing wrong.” Head coach Will Bolt said the team is working to regain its energy and consistency, including a key change to the pitching staff. Ty Horn is expected to move from the bullpen back into the starting rotation for the series against the Hawkeyes. Nebraska is aiming for a strong close to the season, with seven regular-season games remaining. First pitch for the Iowa series is set for Friday night at 6 PM CST at Haymarket Park.
