The ball did stop a bit in the deck on the odd occasion but with the dew taking effect the batting side will feel confident. Can Hardik Pandya and his men spring up a surprise and defend this total? Or will Rajasthan gun it down without a fuss? Rajasthan will be a tad bit disappointed with that bowling effort as there were occasions in the first innings that they had Gujarat on the back foot but simply couldn't capitalize. Trent Boult got an early wicket but was pretty expensive. The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up just a single wicket in between them and went for a bit of runs as well. Adam Zampa though bowled really well and picked up a wicket. The pick of the bowlers once again was Sandeep Sharma who was riding high on confidence from the last game and bowled valiantly at the death picking up a couple of wickets as well. Rajasthan will feel that their batters will be able to chase this one down. Gujarat were pegged back early as Wriddhiman Saha fell in the very first over. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill looked to be forming a gritty stand but the former was run out and Gujarat looked in trouble. The skipper then walked in and played flamboyantly and Gill too found his groove. Pandya fell looking to keep up the ante and Gill too couldn't stay on for much longer. It was then some big hitting from Abhinav Manohar and David Miller in the death overs that really fired Gujarat to a total that they will feel is a good one. A flurry of big hits toward the end from the likes of David Miller and Abhinav Manohar has seen Gujarat post a solid total of 177 runs. It was a topsy-turvy first inning but going into the break Rajasthan will be the slightly happier of the two sides. That will ease the nerves a bit. Fullish length on the pads Devdutt Padikkal stays back and clips it aerially over the mid-wicket region to pick up a boundary the first of the run chase. Since joining GT in the IPL Hardik Pandya has had a strike rate of 190+ thrice in an innings in the first balls and two of those have come against RR- 21* off 10 (210) vs RR (2022) 19* off 10 (190) vs LSG (2022) & 19* off 10 (190) vs RR (today). Excellent delivery from Hardik Pandya and it is backed up really well by Shubman Gill in the field. Just short of a good length and very close to the off stump with the natural angle taking it away. Yashasvi Jaiswal gets cramped for room and ends up poking at it off the back foot. The ball takes the outside edge and goes to the left now first slip where Shubman Gill takes a sharp stop. Pandya is absolutely delighted. Ends with a boundary! Served on a Shortish length outside off and shaping away Sanju Samson stands tall and caresses it just behind the man at point for a lovely boundary. The dot-ball pressure does the trick and Jos Buttler departs playing an unnecessary shot here. Mohammad Shami keeps it on a good length and bowls it around off stump. Buttler shuffles right across the off stump and attempts the scoop. The ball angles in off the deck and beats the bat before knocking the off stump right off the ground. Buttler departs for a duck and Rajasthan are in early trouble here. Picked up and dispatched! Good length angled onto the pads Devdutt Padikkal flicks it effortlessly and over the backward square leg fence for a biggie. Bowled from over the wicket and pitched up around the fifth stump line. Devdutt Padikkal frees his arms and swings through the line before lofting it well over the wide long off fence for a biggie. India vs New Zealand 3rd T20 Live This Match Will be Played at Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad on 1st February 2023 This Match Will Start at 7.00pm From Indian Standard time. India and New Zealand will be playing against each other in the third and final match of the T20I series. After Ranchi and Lucknow the decider will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad. After a horrendous ODI series New Zealand started the shorter formats with a win under their name. Batting first the fifties from Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell helped the Kiwis to post a total of 176 runs. India failed to chase it down despite valiant efforts from Suryakumar Yadav and Washington Sundar. The Men in Blue bounced back in the 2nd T20I after they managed to make a heavy weather of a paltry total. It was Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya who helped the side to go over the line by keeping their calm. While the visitors will be looking to redeem themselves from the ODI series against India the 'Men in Blue' will look to keep their record intact. Team news India: The hosts left out Umran Malik for a second spinner in Yuzvendra Chahal and the pitch again will dictate that decision. Team news New Zealand: The visitors have played the same side on what were slightly different surfaces and they are unlikely to make any change for the decider. While the pitch in Ranchi left Hardik Pandya "surprised" the India captain was "shocked" by what was on offer in Lucknow. And when the talk is largely about the playing surface ahead of a series decider especially with India's proud record of 12 undefeated home series on the line something's got to give. Ahmedabad the venue for the third and final T20I between India and New Zealand has had its fair share of debate around pitches in the past. And the last thing both teams would want is another tricky T20 surface that sees Lockie Ferguson bowl as many overs as Mark Chapman; or Deepak Hooda twice as many as Yuzvendra Chahal. Pitch aside India will know that there's work to be done especially with a young side that's trying to ready itself for 2024. After a breezy ODI whitewash the T20I rubber hasn't been as easy for the hosts. While the death bowling cost them in Ranchi their batting was under the scanner two days later; India got past a target of 100 with only a ball to spare. But the challenging conditions stole the thunder away hardly allowing the team to assess their progress. For example Arshdeep Singh bowled the 20th over again after copping some heat in the first T20I but that he was up against a team limping at 94/8 hardly lent credibility to his five-run last over. For New Zealand this is a great opportunity. They are without a host of their frontline players like Trent Boult Kane Williamson and Tim Southee and are in with a shot to beat India in a T20I series at home - the bragging rights for which has belonged only to Australia and West Indies in the last eight years. For Mitchell Santner's team that will be a great shot in the arm and expect the side to mount a good challenge for the hosts pitch permitting of course. What to expect: A nervous curator. And a fair few cheers for Hardik Pandya the Gujarat Titans captain who is also leading the India T20I side now. Like most Indian grounds teams have preferred to bat second here but in the last couple of games here against England India showed that it is in fact possible to defend targets here. That said those games were played in March; this one could see some fair amount of dew though. It will be interesting to see what pitch the match is played on (Ahmedabad has both red and black soil pitches) but expect the venue to be buzzing again with capacity crowds. The match is scheduled at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. India will be without their two stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Also with Jasprit Bumrah missing Hardik Pandya will again have a young seam bowling unit to lead in the series. However despite the key players' absence team India looks rock-solid studded with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav Shubman Gill Ishan Kishan Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh. It will also be interesting to see if Prithvi Shaw makes his much-awaited international comeback in the very first game. He will fight a virtual contest with Gill Ishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad for an opening slot in the playing XI. This series will also give the much-needed opportunities to Rahul Tripathi and Deepak Hooda to upgrade their status from fringe players to regulars in the shortest format. The visitors will look to erase the scars of the ODI series and start the T20Is on a winning note. But their journey won't be easy as they will miss ace pacers Tim Southee and Trent Boult. So the onus will be on their batting unit comprising Finn Allen Devon Conway Glenn Phillips Daryl Mitchell and the sensational Michael Bracewell. It will also be a litmus test for Mitchell Santner who besides batting and bowling will have the additional responsibility of leadership. Lockie Ferguson who was abysmal in the ODIs must perform as the leader of the bowling attack by not only putting up impressive performances but also guiding the young guns like Henry Shipley Jacob Duffy and Blair Tickner. So who will win? Team News New Zealand: After impressing in the ODI series Michael Bracewell will be a shoo-in for the T20Is. Ben Lister could be making his debut. Team News India: Ruturaj Gaikwad stands ruled out of the series with wrist pain/injury but India haven't asked for a replacement. They are likely to stick with the opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill which served them well recently against Sri Lanka. There's also Prithvi Shaw in the squad this time having forced his way back with the sheer weight of runs at the domestic level and how India try and bring him into the scheme of things will be something to keep an eye on. There's no Harshal Patel this time around and the returning Kuldeep Yadav could challenge Yuzvendra Chahal's spot. What to expect: A whole lot of MS Dhoni t-shirts in the stands. Only three T20 Internationals have been hosted at this ground with the last one being a rematch between India and NZ here in 2021. Tim Southee and Harshal Patel's cutters headlined the slow pitch on that occasion but India have played on much better pitches this season and something similar could be expected in Ranchi. Watch out for the big boundaries at this venue. Pitch Report: The pitch at Ranchi's JSCA International Stadium Complex offers a balanced surface in T20 cricket. The average first innings score here is 133 but India easily chased a 154-run target against Kiwis in the last T20I game played here. The game holds paramount importance for India as they must win it to stay alive in the series. It didn't take long for New Zealand to bounce back from the T20I series defeat as they demolished the visitors by seven wickets in the first ODI. Barring Adam Milne the Kiwi bowlers fared well in Auckland a venue that usually sees truckloads of runs being scored on its flat deck. Although Tim Southee was expensive towards the backend he scalped three wickets to derail the Indian innings. Latham and Kane Williamson stitched a partnership for ages helping their team chase 307 without breaking a sweat. New Zealand have been unbeaten in their last eight ODIs in Hamilton. It's a venue that suits their traditional style of play which is why we expect the Kiwis to emerge triumphant in this encounter. Toss will be the key and India can end their four-match losing streak at this venue if they chase. Having seemingly moved on from Trent Boult and Martin Guptill the hosts seem to have built a solid foundation as they build towards the 2023 World Cup. Michael Bracewell isn't a guaranteed starter despite his stellar recent form and even injury to James Neesham couldn't prevent them from India in the series-opener in Auckland. Their quartet of fast bowlers offer both pace and movement while Neesham Bracewell and Mitchell Santner complete a trio of allrounders. Batting depth might be New Zealand's one major concern given that they can't accommodate all their allrounders and that Tim Southee's returns with the bat have faded of late. India meanwhile are still in search of a sixth bowling option. None of the top six batters who played in Auckland bowl and with no Hardik Pandya Ravindra Jadeja or Axar Patel in their squad for this series. They could look to address the sixth-bowler issue by bringing Deepak Hooda into their line-up but that would leave them with the dilemma of who to leave out. They have the luxury of experimenting however since they have qualified as hosts of next year's World Cup. But they still have a series to win which would need them first and foremost to win on Sunday and end a five-match losing streak against New Zealand. New Zealand Team news: were forced to leave Neesham out in Auckland due to a niggle. If he returns they might have a difficult choice to make. While they will welcome the extra batting depth he offers if he replaces one of the four specialist quicks they might need him to bowl his full ten-over quota with Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips having been used very sparingly of late. India Team news: There is a chance India might bring in Hooda as a sixth bowling option but this could force them to leave out Suryakumar Yadav who hasn't yet replicated his T20I success in ODIs. He was the only member of India's top seven to be dismissed for a single-digit score in Auckland and his last seven ODI innings have brought him a highest score of just 27. India's three fast bowlers were all expensive in Auckland so there is a chance that Deepak Chahar could replace one of them. Pitch and conditions Seddon Park in Hamilton has hosted only three ODIs since 2020 with two of them producing first-innings scores in excess of 330. India scored 347 in one of them only for New Zealand to hunt it down comfortably thanks to a Ross Taylor century. Expect another high-scoring game come Sunday. There remains a good chance of rain interrupting play however with showers forecast throughout the afternoon and evening. The good news however is that it's not raining currently in Napier and live pictures show the players going about their warmups. When it comes to bilateral T20Is it's fair to say that no one comes close to India. This is one team that has consistently performed well both home and away and are a win away from securing yet another series win. Since the loss at home to Australia in February 2019 the team in blue have lost just one bilateral T20I series a Covid-19 stricken Indian team losing to Sri Lanka in 2021. This white-ball dominance hasn't extended to multi-nation tournaments as the results themselves signify. Let now dive into tonight's game at Napier - Hardik Pandya's new set of T20I stars go into the game with a 1-0 lead and India can't lose this series now a creditable achievement considering they're up against a strong New Zealand outfit barring Trent Boult. The hosts will also be without Kane Williamson who misses out due to a 'pre-arranged medical appointment'. He has been replaced by Mark Chapman who should slot in straightaway with Tim Southee taking over the captaincy duties. McLean Park is baked in sunshine at the moment. There are some dark clouds hovering in the background but the groundstaff have started to peel off the square covers Pitch Report | Anjum Chopra and Ajay Jadeja - The pitch has been under covers for the last couple of hours. It looks like a belter it's hard and not a lot of moisture. Side boundaries are really small. There is an even covering of grass so the bounce could be spongy and that'll help the spinners to grip. The captain winning the toss will want to chase. Ground Dimensions - the square boundaries are short at 57m and 60m. Longer straight boundaries at 80m and 77m at either end large pockets as well Toss Update: New Zealand have won the toss and have opted to bat Tim Southee - We will bat. Looks like a pitch where we can put the runs on the board. We can't really control the weather but the history of this ground suggests good batting conditions. Our bowling the other night wasn't the best but credit to SKY. Mark Chapman comes in straightaway. You look back at places where we can improve as a team. Hardik Pandya - We wanted to bowl first anyway so we got what we wanted. I think the pitch will remain the same for the entire 40 overs but with the grass on it there could be some lateral movement for our pacers. We do keep the dimensions in mind but we do have the skill-set in our bowling line-up. We can't think too much about the conditions - One change Harshal comes in place of Washington Sundar Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. The first T20 saw rain play the spoilsport and it seems that it is still chasing the Blue and Black Caps. The good news is it has paused for some time and we can expect some play. After a rain-consumed first T20I both New Zealand and India move on in the three-match series as they get ready to play the second game at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The enthralling encounter will come live beginning at 12:00 PM IST on Sunday! An overview of New Zealand: As always host comes first. Talking about New Zealand they have been playing a great bit of cricket in the recent past. The Kane Williamson-led side reaches the knockouts of the ICC tournaments almost every time but cannot get through the semi-final or the final hurdle to lift the silverware. Some call it choking while some describe it as the disability to hold the pressure in crunch situations. Though opinions change luck doesn't. As we know the Blackcaps are without Martin Guptill and Trent Boult in the series and have most of the players who witnessed the semi-final exit against Pakistan. With the series being reduced to only 2 T20Is after the first match was called off due to persistent rain in Wellington New Zealand would be itching to get out there and take the lead in the series to put the opposition on the back foot. New Zealand: The impressive Finn Allen should get another opportunity at the top of the order with Martin Guptill being left out of the squad. Barring Trent Boult's absence the team should resemble the setup that featured in the T20 World Cup. An overview of India: After the T20 World Cup semi-final humiliation India will officially take the field tomorrow with a completely different set-up. India has a very good opportunity to test the youngsters with a couple of senior stars in the mix. Hardik Pandya is high on confidence with his young guns as they sneak into the field at Bay Oval tomorrow with the dream of making it 1-0. After the washout at the Sky Stadium on Friday now it is important for the tourists to get some game time. In the prematch interview Shubman Gill spoke about his potential T20I debut and given that he should be opening the batting for the Men in Blue. Rest there is a debate on who is his opening partner and the most likely candidate is Rishabh Pant. India Team News: Rishabh Pant should get to play with Dinesh Karthik not picked for this series. But it remains to be seen if he bats at the top of the order. Yuzvendra Chahal who went without a game in the T20 World Cup should get in too in the absence of R Ashwin. New Zealand vs India 2nd T20I So who is taking an early lead in the series? Will it be the hosts or will it be the visitors? Only time will tell. What to expect: Thunderstorms are forecast on the match day and could lead to a curtailed game or even a complete washout. Teams batting first have won all T20Is at this venue. Pitch Report: The fact that the average run rate at the venue is 9.18 pretty much sums up the nature of its surface. So we expect a high-scoring encounter tomorrow. However as rain is predicted the toss-winner will likely opt to field first. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content.
