HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal 3-2 Watford | Premier League | Aubameyang (2), Tierney
HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal 3-2 Watford | Premier League | Aubameyang (2), Tierney

A Premier League season in which we had three different managers, a three-month spring hiatus and played the last 10 games behind closed doors, ended with us edging a five-goal thriller at Emirates Stadium, thereby condemning Watford to relegation. We took the lead following our first attack of the game - after just 34 seconds. Alexandre Lacazette was barged in the back by Craig Dawson and although referee Mike Dean did not award the spot kick, he was forced to reverse his decision after VAR intervention. Aubameyang sent Ben Foster the wrong way to covert the penalty. To their credit Watford, who started the day in the relegation zone, came roaring back, took advantage of the gaps in our midfield and made most of the running after the early concession. Emiliano Martinez made a smart stop to deny Roberto Pereyra but Watford were guilty of overplaying inside the area. Our back four was being tested regularly as Watford showed real attacking intent, so our second goal was certainly against the run of play. Similar to the FA Cup semi-final against Man City, again the move started with some calm passing out of our own area - this time it ended with Aubameyang cutting it back for Kieran Tierney to guide home his first goal for the club. Those two combined again to increase the lead - Tierney's throw in bounced inside the box and Aubameyang acrobatically fired home with an overhead kick. The visitors had no choice but to keep attacking and pulled one back with a penalty of their own when David Luiz clipped Danny Welbeck. Troy Deeney thundered home. Still Watford came after the break. Mikel Arteta reinforced the defence by bringing on Sead Kolasinac, abandoning the back four he had started the game with. Danny Welbeck forced a smart save from Martinez after linking up with Deeney, but soon afterwards the former Arsenal man did have the ball in the net, beating Martinez to a low cross at the near post. Martinez made a superb low reaction to save to stop Welbeck levelling with an improvised finish, before Eddie Nketiah set up Aubameyang on the break, but his shot was charged down. We really hung on during a harum scarum last ten minutes or so, but Watford couldn't find the equaliser, and they slip out of the top flight, while we moved up two places to finish eighth. #arsenal #premierleaguehighlights #aubameyang For more match action, highlights and training videos, make sure you become a digital member and sign up to Arsenal Player. Greene King Championship Highlights. Jersey 10, London Scottish 13

A desperately disappointing afternoon saw the Reds’ mood turn as nasty as the weather as London Scottish inflicted a first home defeat in the league this season. The Reds were hoping to move up the Christmas charts but ended up with just a losing bonus point by way of consolation. With bright and dry conditions giving way to wind and rain as the players warmed up, the Scots made a strong start and forced a stream of penalties from the home side, the third of which was kicked through the uprights by Will Magie. The Reds recovered and on their first serious visit to Scottish territory made ground from a maul. TJ Harris made a break for the line, and then another which saw him barge his way over for a try, well converted by Brendan Cope. Cope and Magie traded penalties during the closing stages of the half before the sides headed to the sanctuary of the dressing rooms. The Reds spent almost the whole of the third quarter in their opponents’ half but couldn’t come away with points, and Exiles’ fly-half Magie took advantage with some fine clearing kicks to put the home side on the back foot. Once they had gained a platform in the Reds 22, the Scots were ruthless, pressing forward in a series of phases before Bright spotted a chink in the defence as he picked up from the base of a ruck and cantered straight through to the posts. There were opportunities for the home side to win the game in the last 15 minutes, including several penalty awards, but possession was lost at two attacking lineouts and the visitors held out determinedly for the win Reds’ director of rugby Harvey Biljon said he was frustrated and disappointed by the outcome. “It was a very tough day at the office for both teams in those conditions, but we didn’t feel that we got the right reward from the breakdown and several critical decisions didn’t go our way,” he said.

Angel Di Maria leads funniest memes as internet trolls Man Utd over PSG defeat

Manchester United fans were seemingly brought back down to earth on Tuesday night following their Champions League defeat by Paris Saint-Germain - and rival supporters were loving it.  The Red Devils had been in good form under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having won 10 of the Norwegian’s first 11 games in charge, but were well-beaten in the first leg of their round of 16 encounter at Old Trafford.  Expectations were understandably high going into the game, but United lost key wingers Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial to first-half injuries before PSG took control of the game following the restart.  Despite having their own injury crisis, with Neymar and Edinson Cavani both out injured, PSG netted quick-fire goals through Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe to take a controlling lead into the return leg in Paris on March 6.    And the fact former Old Trafford flop Angel Di Maria, who was in blistering form on Tuesday night, played a key part in both goals made matters even worse for the home support.  Football fans and the media alike were quick to react to United’s setback, with some hailing the performance of Mbappe who once again enhanced his glowing reputation with another impressive goalscoring performance.   Others hailed Di Maria, with one Twitter user posting: “Barging Di Maria, booing him, and throwing a bottle at him seems to have had the complete opposite effect than intended. Him holding the bottle now a fairly appropriate image for the game.”    That post was in response to an incident which saw a bottle of beer thrown at Di Maria, although he at least saw the funny side by pretending to take a swig.  Another user made light of the situation, writing: “PSG at Old Trafford right now. Beer in hand and cruising.”

Angel Di Maria yells ‘f**k off’ to Man Utd fans after Paris Saint-Germain take lead at Old Trafford

Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria yelled ‘f**k off’ at Manchester United’s home support after his side took the lead at Old Trafford.  The Argentine, who spent an ill-fated single campaign at the Theatre of Dreams, was subjected to abuse by the home fans during the opening 45 minutes.  Ashley Young barged Di Maria into the hoardings during the first half, much to the enjoyment of the Old Trafford crowd.  However, it was Di Maria that had the last laugh when he assisted PSG’s opening goal that was scored by Presnel Kimpembe shortly after half-time.  Di Maria was clearly fired up and utilised his limited grasp of English to taunt the Old Trafford crowd during the celebrations.  United fans launched a bottle at the 30-year-old shortly afterwards when he was taking a corner on the other side of the pitch.  Again, though, it was Di Maria that had the last laugh as he assisted PSG’s second goal of the night moments later when Kylian Mbappe slotted past David De Gea.
