#BarcelonaValladolid #Laliga2020/2021 #Dembele #Messi This video reviews Barcelona vs Real Valladolid, La Liga: Final Score 1-0, Ousmane Dembélé wins it late as Barça win tough home game. Barcelona are back in second place and are now just one point behind La Liga leaders Atlético Madrid thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Real Valladolid at Camp Nou, Barça’s 13th in the last 14 games. The Blaugrana looked rusty after the international break and struggled against a solid Valladolid defense, but Ousmane Dembélé scored a 90th minute winner to give Barça three gigantic points in the title race. Barça looked very much like a team coming off an international break in the first half, playing with no intensity and just passing the ball from side to side with no movement in the final third. Valladolid set up well with a five-man defense but were not really challenged, and the visitors managed to create a really good chance when Kenan Kodro headed the ball against the crossbar. It took 45 minutes for Barça to finally create something, and it was a long shot by Pedri that Jordi Masip deflected onto the post. The Blaugrana were lazy and uninspired, and at halftime they needed a serious wake-up call to play better and win the game. Barça increased the intensity and brought on more pressure in the second half, firing plenty of shots at goal and working hard to recover the ball whenever they lost it. Valladolid couldn’t counter anymore, and Barça had more to offer even if they couldn’t truly threaten Masip. With 10 minutes to go, Óscar Plano was given a straight red card for a tackle on Ousmane Dembélé, and the Blaugrana had a chance to play against 10 men to find the winner. Despite having all their attacking players on the pitch the home team simply couldn’t show enough creativity to break the deadlock, and it looked as though we were headed for a disaster. But in the 90th minute, the breakthrough: Frenkie De Jong played a great cross from the right wing, Ronald Araujo flew high into the air to deflect it with his head, and Dembélé fired a great volley with his left foot to finally beat Masip and give Barça the lead. The final whistle came shortly after and Barça left it late with a poor performance, but this is a game they simply had to win. And they did. Barça are back in second, and El Clásico is up next. Buckle up.
The bad times keep rolling on as Barca once again fumbled 3 points in a match against a bottom 5 opponent as they played out an uninspiring 1-1 draw at home to Cadiz. It was a match that had all the hallmarks of the typical poor performances we have seen from Koeman's Barca. Wasteful finishing and of course the customary defensive error to gift the opponent a goal out of nowhere. Let's take a look at where and why things went wrong for Barcelona on Sunday afternoon. Chelsea began life under Thomas Tuchel with an uninspired goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge. A day after replacing Frank Lampard in the Stamford Bridge hotseat Tuchel was left with much to ponder as his side dominated possession but offered little goal threat. Chelsea strung together almost 900 passes against a defensive Wolves but the vast majority of them were risk-free and easy meat for the visitors well-drilled rearguard. An entirely forgettable first half at Stamford Bridge was followed by a more lively second period with Chelsea going close to giving Tuchel a dream start on a few occasions. Ben Chilwell blasted a great chance over the bar and Callum Hudson-Odoi, a surprise starter, had a deflected shot saved. It was actually Wolves who had the best chance when Pedro Neto scooped a shot onto the roof of the net. Chelsea's poor run of form, which cost club great Lampard his job on Monday, continues and they have now managed to win only twice in their last nine league games. Former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain coach Tuchel sent on Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham late on and they livened things up but Wolves held firm to leave Chelsea in eighth place. Tuchel, twice a Ligue 1 winner with PSG, rung the changes for his first selection, dropping Lampard favourites Mount, Reece James and Abraham, and opting for experience with Olivier Giroud, Jorginho and Cesar Azpilicueta all starting. There was lots of harmless passing in the first half but apart from an Antonio Rudiger header there was little to get excited about. Tuchel clearly called for more daring after the break but it took Chelsea a long time to start to threaten, with Hudson-Odoi their most likely creator in a wide right role. Mateo Kovacic thought he had scored with a terrific curling effort, shortly after Kai Havertz had set up Chilwell who lifted his shot over the bar. Tuchel waited until the 75th minute to send on United States international Pulisic and shortly afterwards gave Mount the chance to show that leaving him out was a mistake. Mount looked impressive and one great turn almost resulted in a chance but his cut back found no one in a blue shirt. Wolves showed little of the flair they have been associated with but Neto nearly stunned the hosts when he was played in by Daniel Podence but his audacious scooped lob went just over. It was a big fixture that brought nothing but big disappointment...again. One team dominated possession and the other waited for the break. Mane, Firmino and Salah looked anything but deadly, while Pogba and Fernandes had the best chances of the game to end Liverpool's impressive home record, but the mammoth in goals called Alisson thought otherwise. In the end, Liverpool and Man Utd landed up sharing the spoils. Chelsea huffed and puffed against a 10 man Fulham until Lampard's son - Mount - proved to be the difference giving the blues a much needed 3 points at the Cottage. Spurs weren't messing around as Mourinho's men put the blades to their sword with a comfortable 3-1 victory, courtesy of Kane, Aurier and Ndombele...with the latter really beginning to stake his influence in the squad! Stone's and Dias continue to be a stalwart partnership as Man City won their 5th Premier League game in a row. Capitalising on Crystal Place's errors, they waltzed to a comfortable 4-0 victory - no surprise then, that the bookies have them as odds on favourite's to claim the title. However, are they really though? Lastly, Arsenal strolled to a 3-0 win over a limp Newcastle, making it 4 wins from their last 5 games for Arteta's men. The young guns - Smith-Rowe and Saka - produced the goods again, but the best part was Aubameyang finally hitting the back of the net, twice! Will this be the key to open a potential goal-scoring flood gate for the gunners? Newcastle on the other hand, were uninspired and directionless under Steve Bruce, how much longer will the Toon faithful have to endure witnessing what some say is closer to torture than entertainment...only Mike Ashley will know. Flyers lose 6-1 to the Sabres in an embarrassing display of uninspiring hockey
Reaction from manager Carlo Ancelotti after his Everton side suffered a 1-0 defeat against West Ham United at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Friday (1st January). Tomas Soucek capitalised after teammate Aaron Cresswell's shot deflected off Yerry Mina and kindly into the path of the Czech, who tapped in for an 86th minute winner. The Toffees were on a winning streak of four league games, and could have climbed up to second in the table, but an uninspiring performance leaves the Merseyside club fourth. Victory for the 10th-placed Hammers ended a streak of their own, having suffered four consecutive defeats going into the fixture. Well...this was just woeful We do not have our best full team out on the pitch and I think it is starting to show. We need to be at least drawing games like this. Poor all around, giving an average Northampton Town side an easy victory. I was tired today, hence the uninspiring voice, but at least the football mactched that haha.
