Our verdict on the Red Bull AlphaTauri Dutch GP F1 conspiracy theory
Mercedes found itself in the thick of a fight for victory properly for the first time in 2022 at the Dutch Grand Prix, and almost inevitably that resulted in a Red Bull-related controversy flying around after the race. Mercedes’ gamble on a one-stop strategy at Zandvoort was on course to leave Lewis Hamilton in the lead of the race after Max Verstappen’s second scheduled pitstop. But Verstappen was able to retain the lead thanks to a well-timed virtual safety car period, which was called when Yuki Tsunoda’s AlphaTauri stopped on track for a second time. Hoy el circuito de Silverstone nos ha regalado una de las mejores carreras de los ultimos años… vaya forma de hacer historia para Carlos Sainz… alzandose con la primera victoria de su carrera deportiva en un gran premio que tuvo de todo… En plena arrancada nos quedamos sin aliento al ver un aparatoso accidente por parte del piloto chino Ganyu Show en un efecto dominó iniciado por pierre gasly que tocó a George Russell y este a su vez impactó con el alfa romeo de Shou que fue el gran afectado en toda esta carambola… En esta caótica largada pilotos como Ocon, Tsunoda y Albon sufrieron daños siendo este ultimo uno de los que tuvo que abandonar de foma inmediata… Todo este drama causó una bandera roja que obligó a relanzar la carrera varios minutos mas tarde… con la particularidad de que este relanzamiento se haria conforme a las posiciones originales de la clasificación, algo que afectaria de sobremanera a Max y Hamilton quienes habian ganado buenas posiciones en el primer arranque… En esta segunda largada tuvimos otra pelea trepidante entre Sainz y Verstappen por el liderato esta vez siendo favorable para el español… Leclerc perdió inicialmente la posición con Pérez, pero pudo recuperarla y volver a adelantarle en la curva 5. Why F1 cars now split apart in crashes more than they used to
When the Monaco Grand Prix television coverage cut to the images of Mick Schumacher’s crashed Haas, with the gearbox separated from the car, it looked like a massive accident. It was shocking to see the gearbox, complete with rear suspension, wheels and rear wing, completely detached from the car. So why is such separation happening so frequently, not just to Schumacher but F1 cars in general given there have been partial separations in the case of Yuki Tsunoda’s crash at Imola last year, and Lance Stroll at Mugello in 2020?
