The first T20I will be hosted at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India will be playing a T20 series after 5 weeks and Sri Lanka is going to play their first T20 series after the T20 World Cup. India have lined up a squad full of youth and jampacked top-order batters. On the other hand Sri Lanka have an amalgam of young guns and senior pros. We shall see who edges past in the first match of the series. Team News (Sri Lanka): The Sri Lankan team will be led by Dasun Shanaka with Kusal Mendis as his deputy. Sri Lanka last played a T20 game in the World Cup 2022. Nuwan Thushara (T20Is) and Sadeera Samarawickrama have came into the squad. Samarawickrama and Avishka Fernando have performed extremely well in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL). The batting order is jammed up with renowned names like Pathum Nissanka Charith Asalanka Dhananjaya de Silva etc. On the flip side the bowling will be spearheaded by Lahiru Kumara. Kasun Rajitha should be making the first XI with either of Pramod Madhushan or Dilshan Madhushanka. Team News (India): Indian captain Rohit Sharma sustained a thumb injury in the previous series against Bangladesh and therefore isn't applicable to play in this series. The management also decided to rest Virat Kohli and KL Rahul for the series. Hardik Pandya will be leading the home side in this series with Suryakumar Yadav as his deputy. Shivam Mavi has earned his maiden India call-up and we might see him make his debut later in the series. Also Mukesh Kumar is a part of the squad who is yet to make his national debut. What to expect in IND vs SL 1st T20: As we have seen over the years the conditions are usually favorable for the chasing side at the Wankhede with the dew coming into the picture. Moderate temperatures are expected during the game. IND vs SL 1st T20I Pitch Report: A high-scoring game is expected at the Wankhede Stadium with the average first-innings total in the last three matches being 189. Bowlers have not found much help especially the spinners who have picked up only four wickets across the last three matches. The good news however is that it's not raining currently in Napier and live pictures show the players going about their warmups. When it comes to bilateral T20Is it's fair to say that no one comes close to India. This is one team that has consistently performed well both home and away and are a win away from securing yet another series win.
