This 32km-long race against the clock that should set the race for the yellow jersey alight and flip the GC on its head. It’s the longest individual time trial seen at the race since 2013 and while it isn’t quite as hilly as those tests that have featured in more recent editions, it will still create some big gaps between the top favourites. Sprinters Take On Technical Cobbled Finale | Tirreno-Adriatico 2022 Stage 3 Highlights
Stage 3 will see the riders tackle another 2000m+ of climbing, but a lot of this is done in the first 125km. The final 14km between Narni Scalo and Terni are on flat ground, with a left turn at 350m to go taking the riders into a smooth but cobbled street that may witness a sprint finish. The hills inside the first half of the stage might allow a breakaway to build a sufficient lead to contest the finish, otherwise it is likely that there will be a sprinting showdown in Terni. Punchy Finish After Hard Day Of Racing | Paris Nice 2022 Stage 3 Highlights
Stage 3 has a deceptive sting in its tail, but before the riders uncover this hidden menace in the hills around Le Menoux they’ll first have to battle the crosswinds which are forecast to rip through the peloton in the first 100km. After the previous day’s ‘war in the winds’, several teams will start this stage battered and bruised with survival their only aim. Others will be looking to build on their victories from 24 hours before and go in for the kill. La Vuelta 2021 Stage 3 Highlights | First Mountain Top Finish!
If you have forgotten it was La Vuelta a España, stage 3 is sure to remind you with its 7.8km climb at an average gradient of 9.3% with a mountain top finish at the Picón Blanco, that cyclists came here to climb mountains. With three category climbs it marks the first big day for riders, with Primoz Roglic, Adam Yates and Mikel Landa all sure to make an appearance and battle it out for the finish. However, an intermediate sprint around the 169th kilometer could see the sprinters hold out before the climbers tackle the Picon Blanco with gradients as steep as 17%!
