When Basketball Players Purposely Avoided Records: In 2005 Jermaine O’Neal scored 55 Points in a Pacers Game against the Bucks, the game was a blowout 116-99, but he purposely snubbed himself out, so he doesn’t tie or surpass 57 Points, which is the Single Game Scoring Record held by Reggie Miller. Jordan Bo-Hannon of the Iowa Hawkeyes was about to break the Iowa NCAA record of 34 free throws made in a row. But He pointed to the sky and missed his 35th Free Throw on Purpose to honor the Record Set by Chris Street, who sadly passed away in a Car Accident just three days after his original Record. Jordan wanted Chris’s record to stay as a way to keep his memory alive. LeBron could have potentially held the Record for the most starts in a Row, which is held by Chris Paul with 1,365 Starts in a Row, but in 2007 LeBron Purposely came off the bench because Anderson Varejao was about to play his First NBA game of the 07 season after a 2 month contract hold out. To Help Boost Anderson’s morale, He came off the bench with him at the same time to avoid the Crowd from Booing him. At the time LeBron had 333 starts in a row, had he not purposely snapped it, he would be the record holder not Chris Paul.

🚨 THE GIANT HAS FALLEN! 🔥 THE WALL CALLED DACCORD! 🚨 CAROLINA STOPS HERE! The Seattle Kraken delivered one of their most important wins of the season, defeating the red-hot Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 in a dramatic battle at Climate Pledge Arena. Facing the NHL’s No. 2 overall team, Seattle relied on discipline, physical defense, and an outstanding performance from goaltender Joey Daccord, who stopped 35 shots to secure the victory. Despite being heavily outshot, the Kraken executed a near-perfect defensive game plan. Seattle blocked 23 shots, disrupted Carolina’s offensive rhythm, and capitalized on key opportunities in the second period with goals from Kaapo Kakko and Ben Meyers. The Hurricanes pushed relentlessly in the final minutes with the goalie pulled and a 6-on-4 advantage, but the Kraken held their structure and protected the lead to snap Carolina’s five-game win streak and 12-game points streak. This win could have major implications in the Western Conference playoff race, as Seattle creates separation from the chasing pack and moves into a stronger position in the Pacific Division standings. In this video, we break down what this victory means for the Kraken, how Joey Daccord became the difference-maker, and why this defensive performance could be a turning point for Seattle’s season. The Carolina Hurricanes lost 2-1 to the Seattle Kraken in a road game on March 2, 2026. The Hurricanes saw their 5-game winning streak come to an end as they fell to the Seattle Kraken, 2-1. The Kraken scored both of their goals in the 1st half of the second period as a couple of breakdowns led to grade A scoring chances. Nikolaj Ehlers got the Canes on the board late in the 2nd period, pouncing on a loose puck and ringing the bell for the 16th time this season to make it a 1-goal game heading into the 3rd. But, Carolina just couldn't generate enough from their 36 shots on goal and 83 (!!!) total shot attempts and the game fizzled out at the end. Frederik Andersen started his second consecutive game for the first time since before Thanksgiving, but wasn't able to stack back-to-back strong performances in losing. It snaps his personal 6-game point streak.
