When Basketball Players Purposely Avoided Records: In 2005 Jermaine O’Neal scored 55 Points in a Pacers Game against the Bucks, the game was a blowout 116-99, but he purposely snubbed himself out, so he doesn’t tie or surpass 57 Points, which is the Single Game Scoring Record held by Reggie Miller. Jordan Bo-Hannon of the Iowa Hawkeyes was about to break the Iowa NCAA record of 34 free throws made in a row. But He pointed to the sky and missed his 35th Free Throw on Purpose to honor the Record Set by Chris Street, who sadly passed away in a Car Accident just three days after his original Record. Jordan wanted Chris’s record to stay as a way to keep his memory alive. LeBron could have potentially held the Record for the most starts in a Row, which is held by Chris Paul with 1,365 Starts in a Row, but in 2007 LeBron Purposely came off the bench because Anderson Varejao was about to play his First NBA game of the 07 season after a 2 month contract hold out. To Help Boost Anderson’s morale, He came off the bench with him at the same time to avoid the Crowd from Booing him. At the time LeBron had 333 starts in a row, had he not purposely snapped it, he would be the record holder not Chris Paul.
This is a Record Breaking NBA Playoffs! Starting off: When the Cavaliers tied up the series 2-2 they did so by going on an insane 24-0 Run which is their longest playoff scoring run in Cavs Playoff History. Mitchell was quiet in the first half, but his spider senses were absolutely tingling in the 2nd half by Tying Sleepy Floyd’s 2nd Half Playoff Scoring Record of 39 points. The Knicks are also having a Historic NBA Playoffs run so far: the 2026 New York Knicks have broken the record for the best point differential through the first 10 games of a postseason in NBA history, surpassing the 2017 Golden. Which basically means the Knicks are blowing out every team they face. Through 10 games of the 2026 playoffs, the Knicks established a +194 point differential. The 2017 Warriors held the previous record with a +170 point differential in their first 10 games. In the 2026 NBA Playoffs, LeBron James made history by becoming the first player to appear in 300 playoff games. Oh and by the way That is 300 games in a Row! Talk about Iron Man, he has never missed a Playoff Game in his Career. Victor Wembanyama set an NBA record for the most blocked shots in a playoff game (12) on May 4, 2026, during Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He also recorded a rare playoff triple-double in that game, becoming the first player in history to achieve 10+ blocks in a playoff game.
What a Game! The Celtics had a Historic Regular Season and they were the heavy favorites to Win the East before the Playoffs Started, yet here they are, knocked out of the First Round 109-100 By the 7th Seeded 76ers. Of Course the Biggest Asterisk was Jayson Tatum being out for the game due to a Knee Injury, and it must have been serious, because if he could have played, you know he would have played. Even still: The Celtics clearly had a meltdown in that final stretch where they missed 6 shots in a row late in the 4th quarter, that is what cost them this Game. As for the 76ers, this Just might be Joel Embiid’s best Shot to Reach the Finals, the Knicks will be a Challenge, but if they can beat the Celtics, anything is possible. Joel Embiid has never been passed the 2nd round in his entire Career, he is the only MVP in NBA history to never play in round 3 or higher, so he really needs to have a Deep Playoff Run. And let this game also be a warning to the Pistons and Cavaliers, don’t get too relaxed thinking you have Home court advantage as anything can happen in a Game 7!
