Seven Straight Wins for the Phins – NFL Week 16 Miami Dolphins Offense and Defense Film Study
The Dolphins are the first NFL team in history to lose 7 straight games and come back and win 7 straight games! It really is about both sides of the ball although they might be winning more on defense (which we are also going to take a look at in this video). But Tua Tagovailoa is doing some really good things and his main man Jaylen Waddle. They really are getting him involved, he is on the cusp of breaking the rookie record for catches in a season set by my old teammate, Anquon Boldin. But they do some many great things with him. It’s really that connection between those two. When they need a big play, 3rd and short, those two guys being on the same page has really been the difference. You couple that with what they are doing defensively, and you have a team that’s got a great opportunity to make it to the playoffs. And they are a team that no one wants to play in the playoffs because of all of the different challenges they present defensively. Ian Book had a pretty tough challenge. What are you going to do against all that stuff? You have to have a distinct plan as an offense when you go against the Miami Dolphins because they are going to give you a whole bunch of different looks. You have to be on top of it and ready. If you’re playing the game slow or it’s going too fast for you, like it was for Ian Book, you have no chance against this Dolphins defense because they are so good and so disciplined along with so many different looks. You couple that with an offense that’s doing enough. They aren’t great or outstanding, there isn’t anything that they do really well. But Waddle and Tua are giving them a chance to complete third down plays, to keep the chains going, to play with what their defense is doing and they are making enough plays to score points. Or they are being set up to score points by their defense. Don’t turn the ball over, score when you have opportunities.
