In the opening round of the 2022 Presidents Cup, the United States Team gained an early 4-1 lead over the International Team in Foursomes. SUBSCRIBE to PGA TOUR now: http://pgat.us/vBxcZSh The Presidents Cup returns for the first time since 2019, after the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the event by a year. 12 players from both the U.S. Team and the International Team will descend upon the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, the regular home of the Wells Fargo Championship. Both Justin Thomas and Max Homa have had success at the course, with Thomas winning the 2017 PGA Championship and Homa claiming victory at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2019. A record 14 players will be making their Presidents Cup debuts this year, with 2021-22 PGA TOUR Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa among those lining up for the U.S. Team for the first time, while Cam Davis and Tom Kim are two of the eight rookies for the International Team. Presidents Cup veteran Adam Scott will be making his tenth appearance while Hideki Matsuyama will mark his fifth appearance this week. The competition will see five Foursomes played on Thursday, followed by five Four-balls on Friday. Saturday will see four of each of these formats played, before the competition concludes on Sunday with 12 singles matches. The International Team will be looking to win the Presidents Cup for the first time since 1998, while the U.S. Team will want to make it nine wins in a row when the competition concludes on Sunday. In the final round of the 2022 BMW Championship, Viktor Hovland makes a 203-yard ace on the par-3 2nd hole. Hovland's hole-in-one is the first of the 2022 FedExCup Playoffs and his second of the 2021-22 PGA TOUR season, after he made an ace at THE PLAYERS Championship. Hovland is the only player on the PGA TOUR with multiple holes-in-one this season. After a tee shot that saw his ball bounce on the rocks while avoiding the water, Zalatoris took a drop from the penalty area and saved bogey to capture the win on the third playoff hole at TPC Southwind. Scottie Scheffler will head to TPC Southwind leading the FedExCup points list after an incredible 2022 has seen him win four times, including a win at the Masters Tournament in April. Tony Finau heads into the playoffs ranked seventh in the FedExCup Standings after back-to-back victories at the 3M Open and the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The American won the first FedExCup Playoffs event in 2021 and will be hoping to defend his title at a new host golf course. Cameron Smith will return to play for the first time since his victory at The Open. Last year, the Australian narrowly missed out on a victory in the first FedExCup Playoffs event after losing to Tony Finau in a playoff. Sitting in the second position in the FedExCup Standings, a good finish for Smith at the FedEx St. Jude should see him sitting in prime position to challenge for the PGA TOUR’s ultimate prize at the end of the month.
