The Warriors have lost 11 straight matches against the Storm – an unwelcome record they have matched just once previously in their history (against St. George Illawarra between 2008-2015). The Storm looked as dangerous as ever during a hard-fought 34-18 win over Cronulla. Meanwhile, the Warriors played their hearts out against the Roosters only to fall disappointingly short in a 22-14 defeat. It’s the 11th meeting between these two sides on ANZAC Day, with the Warriors winning just two of them, the last of which came in 2014. Jesse and Kenny Bromwich return for Melbourne, shifting Brandon Smith and Trent Loiero to the bench as Chris Lewis and Alec MacDonald drop out. Contrastingly, the Broncos came crashing back to earth with a 38-12 thumping at the hands of the Cowboys after a 2-0 start. After conceding just three tries across the first fortnight, Brisbane allowed the Cowboys to run in six in a performance that was more reminiscent of what we’ve seen from the Broncos defensively over the past two seasons. The Warriors had been building towards a win and finally got those elusive two points last week despite playing with a man down late. They have named the same 13 this week, although Shaun Johnson is a chance to return from the extended interchange. Ryan James has been elevated to starting prop in the absence of Kurt Capewell while Thomas Flegler and TC Robati return via Brisbane’s bench. Ahoy footy fans! Footy returns to Campbelltown Stadium for the first time since Round 9 last season as the Wests Tigers host the New Zealand Warriors on Friday evening. Both teams enter this matchup winless, raising the stakes with the loser already in danger of being left behind in 2022. The Tigers couldn’t back up a solid opening-round effort against the Storm as the Knights dominated them from start to finish on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Warriors were again competitive but as it did in Round 1, their offence faded in the second stanza. A third different halves pairing in as many weeks certainly doesn’t help the visitors as Kodi Nikorima, who was left out last week, comes in to replace Ash Taylor (hip).
