ISL 2021-22 M73 Highlights: Odisha FC Vs Hyderabad FC | Hindi & English
Hyderabad FC underlined their credentials as one of the top contenders this season with a brilliant come-from-behind performance to beat Odisha FC 3-2 in the Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Thursday. Jerry Mawihmingthanga (45th) gave Odisha the lead at the stroke of halftime but Hyderabad put on a show in the second half with goals from Joel Chianese (51st), Joao Victor (70th) and Akash Mishra (73rd) in the space of 20 minutes. Jonathas Cristian (84th) reduced the margin but it was too little too late as Odisha succumbed to a defeat and remained in seventh place. ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 70): Ogbeche shows SC East Bengal no mercy as Hyderabad go top
Hyderabad FC reclaimed the top spot in the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) standings with a dominating 4-0 win over SC East Bengal at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, here today. Bartholomew Ogbeche (21’, 44’, 74’) scored a sensational hattrick to extend his lead in the goalscoring charts. Aniket Jadhav (45+1’) also got on the scoresheet for the Nizams. The result takes them to the top of the table with 20 points, ahead of Kerala Blasters FC on goal difference. Joao Victor tested Arindam Bhattacharja from a free-kick early into the game following a strong start by the Nizams. The goalkeeper was called into action a few more times later after having to make saves from Sauvik Chakrabarti and Aniket Jadhav. However, the custodian could not keep the ball out for long as Bartholomew Ogbeche’s header escaped his grip and landed inside the net for the first goal. SC East Bengal gave a better account of themselves after the drinks break in the first half. They almost scored the equaliser but a save from Laxmikant Kattimani and a goal-line clearance from Joao kept the lead intact. At the stroke of the 41st minute, HFC doubled the lead after a comedy of errors by SCEB defence allowed Ogbeche to weave past the goalkeeper and score with ease. Aniket Jadhav then added more misery by scoring the third after a couple of minutes. His low shot from the left flank found the bottom-right corner and the Nizams went into the halftime break with a three-goal advantage. Marcelo Ribeiro made his debut from the bench in the second half as the Red & Gold Brigade tried to find a breakthrough. However, it was HFC that scored the fourth as Ogbeche finally got his first hattrick of the season at the stroke of the 75th minute. Javier Siverio’s shot deflected into the Nigerian’s path who made no mistake in slotting the shot into the back of the net. SCEB had a penalty awarded after Ribeiro was tripped inside the box but the spot-kick was saved well by Kattimani who correctly guessed Franjo Prce’s attempt. The Nizams kept their clean sheet intact for the remainder of the match and secured important three points. ISL 2021-22, Match Highlights (Game 56): Bengaluru FC humble Mumbai City FC with 3-0 win
Bengaluru FC pile more misery on Mumbai City FC with a 3-0 victory in match number 56 of the Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda. The defending champions miss the chance to regain the top spot and have collected only two points in the last five matches whereas Marco Pezzaiuoli’s men are only three points away from fourth place in the points table. Danish Farooq (8’) gave the Blues an early lead which was extended to three by Prince Ibara (23’, 45’) who scored a first-half brace with two towering headed goals. Gurpreet Sandhu was called into action early who saved two attempts from Cassio Gabriel and Bipin Singh within minutes following the kick-off. However, it was BFC that took the lead through Danish Farooq, whose left-footed drive from outside the box gave no chance to Phurba Lachenpa in goal. Prince Ibara then joined the party after burying a header from close range to double the lead with only 23 minutes on the clock. The cross from Roshan Naorem was brilliant and the striker from Congo made no mistake in finding the back of the net. The Blues continued to pile more pressure on the Islanders and created several scoring opportunities around the half-hour mark. Des Buckhingam’s men could not manage to contain the deficit to two goals as Ibara scored again with a header moments before the halftime whistle. Roshan Naorem was again the provider with an accurate corner which saw the tall forward leap the highest to head the ball. The start of the second half saw more of the same, with BFC threatening to score. However, MCFC got more hold of the possession and created better chances to reduce the deficit. Sunil Chhetri was brought on to replace Ibara who left the pitch owing to an injury. Five minutes past the hour mark, Apuia saw his half-volley from long-range hit the right-sided post and come out. Ajith Kamaraj replaced Naorem who was struggling with a muscle issue late into the match. The fourth official added five minutes for stoppages but MCFC could not break the BFC defence. The Blues held on to a well-deserved clean sheet and secured all three points in a sensational overall performance. SC East Bengal (SCEB) showed the right measure of grit and determination to hold defending champion Mumbai City FC (MCFC) to a goalless draw in the Indian Super League (ISL) at Tilak Maidan Stadium on Friday.
