#Lakers Free Agent Guard Option | #ChrisPaul Lakers?!? | #LakersFreeAgency 2024 The Los Angeles Lakers shouldn't have much money to spend in 2024 NBA free agency. Free agency is still weeks away, but names are already being connected with the Lakers including Warriors point guard Chris Paul. With the Lakers exiting the playoffs during the opening round and the Warriors crashing out of the play-in, both teams will undoubtedly look different heading into the 2024-25 season. Longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein mentioned in his latest newsletter that Chris Paul could finally become a Laker this summer if he becomes a free agent. So Z Nation, should the Lakers target CP3 or another guard options??? #Lakers To Work Out #TristanThompson, #TonyBradley | Lakers Need Center | Lakers Open Roster Spot Centers Tristan Thompson and Tony Bradley are scheduled to work out for the Lakers this week, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic. The team has an open roster spot and needs help in the middle with Mohamed Bamba possibly out for the rest of the regular season with a high left ankle sprain. Thompson, 32, played alongside LeBron James for several years in Cleveland and was part of the Cavaliers’ title-winning team in 2016. The 11-year veteran finished last season with the Bulls, but has been a free agent after not being re-signed. Thompson averaged 6.0 points and 5.1 rebounds for three teams in 57 games during 2021/22 and was part of one of the year’s biggest trades, being sent from the Kings to the Pacers in the Domantas Sabonis–Tyrese Haliburton swap. He signed with Chicago after reaching a buyout with Indiana. Bradley, 25, began this season with the Bulls, but was waived last month so the team could sign Patrick Beverley. Bradley saw limited playing time in 12 games, averaging 1.6 points in 2.8 minutes per night. The six-year veteran has also played for the Jazz, Sixers and Thunder. Jovan Buha of The Athletic tweeted last week that the Lakers were in the market for a center and were more likely to sign someone to a 10-day contract than a deal that covers the rest of the season. With only 20 days remaining in the season, L.A. can now fill that spot with consecutive 10-day contracts. The Lakers’ search for depth at center dates back to at least mid-January when they brought in Meyers Leonard and DeMarcus Cousins for workouts. Leonard recently signed with the Bucks for the rest of the season, while Cousins remains a free agent. So Z Nation, which center should the Lakers sign??? #Lakers Get Much Needed Win VS #Warrior 113-105, #AnthonyDavis Dominated In Massive Win For LA In a game where Stephen Curry's return was the big story, Anthony Davis shone brightest as the superstar carried the Los Angeles Lakers to a 113-105 win over the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday. Davis dropped a game-high 39 points—his fourth consecutive 28-plus-point performance—to go along with eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks. He was the catalyst for the Lakers as they snapped Golden State's five-game winning streak. The weight was all on Davis' shoulders against a rejuvenated Warriors team, as fellow superstar LeBron James is sidelined for several weeks after injuring a tendon in his right foot against the Mavericks last week. D'Angelo Russell, who missed his fifth consecutive game with a sprained ankle, was also unavailable. Los Angeles will need Davis' recent form to continue if it is going to stay afloat in the Western Conference during the final stretch of the season. The injuries to James and Russell will only make his presence all the more pivotal. The Lakers improved to 31-34 following the win but still sit just outside the play-in spot, half a game back of the No. 10-seeded New Orleans Pelicans. The Purple and Gold will face the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. So Z Nation, what did you think about the Lakers win against the Golden State Warriors??? #Lakers Comeback Win To Beat #Pacers 112-111, #AnthonyDavis Saved LA Anthony Davis went full superstar mode on Thursday night. The Los Angeles Lakers' big man hit what would ultimately be the game-winning shot and followed it up with a crucial block on the ensuing possession to help his team narrowly defeat the Indiana Pacers 112-111. Davis led all players with 31 points, to go along with 14 boards and two blocks, while LeBron James added 26 points, seven boards and seven assists. The Lakers needed big performances from their two stars, as Russell Westbrook had a tough night from the field, shooting 2-of-16 with 10 points. Tyrese Haliburton's 26 points and 12 assists and Aaron Nesmith's career-high 24 points led the way for the Pacers. Davis' big performance came on the same day he wasn't selected as an All-Star reserve, the second straight year he won't be at the game after eight straight All-Star berths. If that has Davis a little fired up, the Lakers won't mind any. At 25-28, the team needs every big night and win it can muster, and in only his fourth game back after a nearly six-week injury absence, Davis looked fully locked in. That, in turn, helped the Lakers slowly chip away at a 13-point halftime deficit, eventually catching the Pacers (24-29) in the waning moments and setting the stage for some very timely AD heroics. So Z Nation, what did you think about the Lakers win against the Indiana Pacers???? #Lakers Reportedly ‘Seriously Considered’ Russell Westbrook Trade For #BuddyHield, #MylesTurner An internal "debate" reportedly continues to wage on behind the scenes as the Los Angeles Lakers decide whether to trade Russell Westbrook. Shams Charania, Sam Amick and Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported the Lakers' brain trust of Rob Pelinka, Jeanie Buss and Kurt Rambis met ahead of training camp and "seriously considered" a trade that would send Westbrook and two future first-round picks to the Indiana Pacers for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield. The opinions of coach Darvin Ham and Lakers executives Joey and Jesse Buss were also reportedly "strongly considered" in the process. Pelinka has final say on basketball moves, but the group decided it would not make a move unless a consensus was reached. With Westbrook opening the preseason in a Lakers uniform, there were obviously differing opinions on how to handle the situation. Jeanie Buss was reportedly Westbrook's strongest champion among the brain trust, believing a "combination of Ham’s style and on-court plan could be the solution here." Ham has expressed excitement about coaching Westbrook on multiple occasions and has publicly preached accountability—particularly on the defensive end. It's clear there is no guarantee Westbrook will remain with the organization through the end of the season. Pelinka's current plan is to "remain patient and see" if Westbrook fits better under Ham than he did under former coach Frank Vogel, who clashed with the 2017 MVP throughout last season. There is some danger in waiting. The Pacers are not going to sit around and hope the Lakers come back to the trade table; if an opportunity presents itself to move Turner and/or Hield, they'll strike. Indiana could also start out hotter than expected as its young roster starts coalescing. From a pure basketball perspective, Turner and Hield are a better fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis than Westbrook. Both James and Westbrook are at their apex of effectiveness with the ball in their hands, and Westbrook's lack of shooting prowess makes him a liability when he's asked to spot up. Taking the ball out of James' hands in favor of Westbrook makes little sense given the fact LeBron is a far superior basketball player. The Lakers' long-standing obsession with star power may be clouding the front office's vision, given most outside observers have already come to the conclusion that this trio simply does not work on the floor. So Z Nation, should the lakers pull the trigger on the trade for Hield and Turner? Or stick with the roster they have now???
