Dulwich had earned their first win of the season last time out, but would ultimately not be able to build on that against title-favourites Billericay. The two sides traded chances in the first half, Dumebi Dumaka, Nyren Clunis and Ibrahim Kargbo for Dulwich, whilst Rob Swaine and Jermaine Pennant forced Preston Edwards into saves at the other end. Just when it seemed it would be goalless at the break, Billericay went ahead when last season's top scorer Billy Bricknell was played in, and he coolly finished under Edwards. As the game went into injury time, Dulwich responded with a goal of their own, Ashley Carew converting a penalty after Gavin Tomlin was brought down. The visitors were the dominant side after the interval, as Marc Weatherstone and Carew both produced goal line clearances. The decisive moment in the game came with 18 minutes to go, as a handball from Nana Boakye-Yiadom gave Bricknell the chance to score his second from the penalty spot, which he duly did. The points were secured in outstanding fashion when Jake Robinson scored from inside his own half, a fitting way to end an entertaining afternoon of football. Dulwich now have a week off before they travel to Leiston next Saturday.
Highlights of Dulwich's 1-1 draw against Leatherhead in the Ryman League Premier Division. For the second time this season the Hamlet would leave it late to salvage a point against the Tanners, with Ibrahim Kargbo's late missile bringing them something from the game. Dulwich had the ball in the net early on, but Ibra Sekajja scored from an offside position. Throughout the first half the hosts had more of the possession, but created half chances at best, and as the game wore on, it seemed like it would be a frustrating evening. Leatherhead then took a lead with 20 minutes remaining, as Matt Drage gave away the ball to Nana Boakye-Yiadom just outside his penalty area, and the substitute had the easy task of slotting past Preston Edwards. Just when it seemed the visitors were going to hold on, a Gavin Tomlin corner was headed into the path of Kargbo, who unleashed an unstoppable volley, and hand his side a goal which moved them up to 4th in the table.
With time running out for the Hamlet as they searched for an equaliser, it seemed like Leatherhead were going to hold on for the win. However, a Gavin Tomlin corner four minutes from time was nodded into the path of Ibrahim Kargbo, and the veteran midfielder unleashed a Exocet of a volley off the crossbar and into the back of the net, and hand Dulwich a point. Dulwich Hamlet 1-1 Leatherhead.
Highlights of Dulwich's 4-1 win over Whitehawk in the Second Round of this year's FA Trophy. After losing at this stage last year, the Hamlet were aiming for a last-16 appearance for the first time in 33 years. Trailing 1-0 courtesy of a Mike West goal with 18 minutes to play, that wait looked like it would be continuing, but Dulwich had other ideas. First, a poor clearance from a Whitehawk defender found Ibrahim Kargbo at the edge of the area. He crossed and Gavin Tomlin was there to plant a header into the bottom corner. Three minutes later, the game was turned on its head, as Tomlin popped up again, this time Nathan Green the architect, as Tomlin this time found the other corner. Dulwich had their tails up, and duly found a third, Nyren Clunis capitalising on a weak pass to tee up Ashley Carew to smash home from just outside the box. The cherry on top of the cake was added in injury time, when Carew reacted fasted following Hawks keeper Ross Flitney saving his penalty attempt to make it four goals in 18 minutes, and complete an unbelievable turnaround. Gavin Rose and his troops will now travel to National League side Braintree Town in Round Three on February 4th. Dulwich Hamlet have released a member of their first-team squad at the start of this week, with winger Roman Michael-Percil leaving the club. Michael-Percil signed for Hamlet from the Metropolitan Police back in March, and made nine starts before the end of the campaign, including the playoff final defeat to East Thurrock United. This season he managed to make 17 appearances, although ten of these came from the bench, and scored his only goal for the club in the Alan Turvey Trophy win over Greenwich Borough. Several first-team members also took part in a behind-closed doors friendly against a Bromley XI, including run-outs for Ibrahim Kargbo and Alfred Mugabo as they continue their return from injuries.
