Chicago Blackhawks vs Detroit Red Wings 2/15/21
The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 8th win on the year defeating the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 3-2 in overtime, improving their record to 8-5-4 on the season and a impressive 8-2-4 in their last 14 games. The hawks got the lead when Mattias Janmark scored his 6th of the season off assists from Carl Soderberg and Nikita Zadorov. Dominik Kubalik finally scored at 5 on 5, after an excellent play by Brandon Hagel to force a turnover resulting in a tap in goal for Kubalik his 4th of the year. The Red Wings, who dominated most of the game, would send the game to overtime however after netting goals from Vladislov Namestnikov and Christian Djoos. However the Hawks were not to be denied as Pius Suter set up Dominik Kubalik for the GWG on a 2 on 1 in the dying seconds overtime. Nicolas B Beaudin picked up the secondary assist. Chicago Blackhawks vs Dallas Stars 2/9/21
The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 6th win on the season defeating the Dallas Stars by a score of 2-1 in overtime, improving their overall record to 6-4-4 on the season. The Blackhawks had a dreadful first period, lead by a brutal turnover by Pius Suter, leading to the Stars lone goal of the game by Rope Hintz. In the 2nd period the Blackhawks got on the board with a power play goal scored by former Dallas Stars forward Mattias Janmark, his fifth of the season, earning assists from Dominik Kubalik and a great pass and play from Phillip Kurashev. The 3rd period went scoreless with good goaltending on both sides of the ice. In overtime, Brandon Hagel made a slick passing play to Pius Suter, who sliced up the Stars defense like butter, scored a beautiful goal to give the Blackhawks the victory, his fifth of the season. Kevin Lankinen finished strong again, stopping 34 of 35 shots for a .971 save percentage. Look out for this kid, he is probably the favorite for the Calder right now and definitely in discussion for the Vezina. The Chicago Blackhawks fell in overtime to the Nashville Predators by a score of 3-2 in game 7 of the 2020-21 season, bringing their overall record to a mark of 2-3-2. Dylan Strome scored on the power play keeping the hawks man advantage on fire with a power play goal in 7 consecutive games now to start the season. Strome also finished 50% at the face-off circle a marketed improvement from his previous two game series against the Red Wings. Mattias Janmark scored a goal for the 3rd consecutive game bringing his point total up to 4 in the first 7 games of the season. The Blackhawks penalty kill went 4-4 on the evening, giving the special teams a great overall game. Lucas Carlsson made his season debut and Malcolm Subban stopped 36 of 39 shots for a save percentage of .923. Alex Debrincat and Adam Boqvist were placed in Covid protocols and will miss the next 2 weeks.
