Newzealand won Test Championship Final 2021 vs India | WTC Winner NZ Kane WIlliamson Virat Kohli New Zealand crowned World Test Champions after thrilling final day Kane Williamson and Taylor calmed New Zealand nerves during a chase of 139 from 53 overs – a target that was just testing enough to give India a chance, particularly after Ravichandran Ashwin had dismissed both openers in a dangerous spell after tea. But Williamson (52*) and Taylor (47*) bided their time and built a match-winning partnership of 96, with Taylor hitting the winning runs to ensure that New Zealand win the first-ever World Test Championship mace. India began the sixth day 32 runs ahead, on 64/2, with Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease, and with all results still possible. NEW ZEALAND WIN THE WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP! New Zealand knew that they needed a fair helping of wickets in the morning session, and Kyle Jamieson got them off to a superb start, tempting Kohli into a nibble that BJ Watling, playing in his final ever Test, gratefully grabbed behind the stumps. And the big Kiwi bowler struck again in his very next over, luring a rare waft out of Pujara to get the edge, with Ross Taylor taking a good catch in the cordon. Jamieson’s double scalp meant India had lost two wickets for just eight runs at the start of the session but also brought Rishabh Pant to the crease. And the dangerous wicketkeeper-batter had New Zealand sweating for a while as he set about building a menacing partnership with Ajinkya Rahane that took India past 100. Rahane fell, but India went in at the interval on 130/5 and with a lead of 98, with New Zealand in need of another flurry in the afternoon session. Ross Taylor whips Shami away for four, and that’s it! A nation of 5m people has beaten a nation of over a billion. And their two most prolific batsmen, Kane Williamson and Taylor, have seen them over the line. #WTCFinal #ViratKohli #Williamson You can follow us on Instagram also : www.instagram.com/cricketnewsdaily1/ Copyright Disclaimer under section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for “fair use” for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research. #MohammadAmir Peshawar Zalmi defeated defending champions Karachi Kings by five wickets with one ball to spare in Eliminator 1 of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Tuesday here at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Two dropped catches of Sherfane Rutherford on the first ball as well as the penultimate one in Mohammad Ilyas' last over saw Peshawar Zalmi get seven runs and cross the line. Zalmi, the champions of the 2017 edition, will now play Islamabad United in Eliminator 2 on Tuesday and the winner will take on Multan Sultans in the final on Thursday. Player of the match Hazratullah Zazai's whirlwind 77 set the tone for Zalmi's successful chase of 176. The Afghanistan opener smashed 10 fours and five sixes in 38 balls and stitched an opening partnership of 49 with Kamran Akmal (13 off 12) and then added 43 more runs with Imam-ul-Haq (11 off 17). In both alliances, he took the lead role and made sure that Kings' bowlers remained on the defensive. When he became Perera's second wicket, Zalmi had, by then, accumulated 103 runs in 11.3 overs. Shoaib Malik provided support in the middle-order with his 30 off 25, before Sherfane Rutherford (17 not out off 10) sealed the win. Earlier, Zalmi pacers Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan and Umaid Asif shared six wickets and the seventh wicket was taken by Mohammad Imran as Kings were restricted to 175 for seven. Babar Azam scored his seventh half-century of the edition after Wahab decided to bowl after winning the toss. Kings' wickets fell on regular intervals after Sharjeel Khan (26 off 20) was dismissed in the sixth over and Babar struggled to find the desired support from the other end. Perera played a handy knock in the middle-order scoring 37 runs at more than two runs-a-ball as his 18-ball stay at the wicket was studded with four fours and three sixes. Brief Scores: Karachi Kings 175/7 (Babar Azam 53, Thisara Perera 37, Mohammad Irfan 2-21); Peshawar Zalmi 176/5 (Hazratullah Zazai 77, Shoaib Malik 30, Thisara Perera 2-10).

Eden Hazard sends a message to Chelsea fans following Champions League final win vs Man City. Chelsea laid their hands on the UEFA Champions League crown for the second time in their history with a 1-0 win over Manchester City in Saturday's final at the Estadio do Dragao. Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has admitted that he did not celebrate Chelsea's UEFA Champions League final triumph over Manchester City on Saturday evening in Porto. After getting the better of Madrid at the semi-final stage, the Blues, who will discover their fixture list for the 2021/22 Premier League season later this month, went all the way to lift the trophy for the second time in their history with a 1-0 win at the Estadio do Dragao. Club-record signing Kai Havertz netted the only goal of the game shortly before the halftime interval when he latched onto Mason Mount's expertly-weighted through ball, knocked the ball beyond Ederson in the City goal, and then into the back of an empty net. That proved to be enough for the Blues to get the job done, meaning head coach Thomas Tuchel, who has only been in the job since the end of January, got the better of Pep Guardiola and City for the third time in the space of just six weeks. With the campaign has now reached its conclusion, attention now switches to transfer activity, with Tuchel keen to add three new faces to his squad in an attempt to bolster his armory ahead of the 2021/22 season getting started. One of the names to have been closely linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks is Hazard, with reports in Spain that have claimed that the Belgium winger wants to leave the club and seal a return to Chelsea. Hazard still has a strong affiliation with the club, something that was evident when he returned to his former stomping ground last month for the semi-final showdown between the two clubs. At the end of the game, which finished 2-0 in the Blues' favor, Hazard was spotted laughing and joking with Edouard Mendy and Kurt Zouma. It was hardly the impression you would want to give to your supporters and teammates after losing a Champions League semi-final. After coming under intense pressure for what happened, many probably expected Hazard to jubilantly celebrate Chelsea's win on Saturday evening, but he insists that was not the case, although he conceded that he was happy for a "couple of friends" within the squad. When asked if he celebrated Chelsea's win over City, Hazard said: "Of course not, I’m a Real Madrid player so I am not happy. "I am just happy for a couple of friends in the team, but I hope next season it’s for Real Madrid." Hazard, ahead of the European Championship getting underway next week, has also been asked about his future holds, given that recent reports have claimed that he wants to leave the La Liga heavyweights. However, the Belgian has played down those claims, insisting he is happy at the Bernabeu and focused on next season. "I don't see myself leaving Real Madrid right away," he added. "My first two years weren't great due to injuries. When I'm fit, I can do great things for the clubs. "Now I want to think about the European Championship first. Then I will give everything for Real." Hazard, of course, will be playing under a different manager next season following Carlo Ancelotti's appointment yesterday. please subscribe, like, share and feel free to comment... A fifth straight win to close out the Premier League season was not enough to secure European football next term. A second successive brace from Nicolas Pepe gave us all three points on the final day of the season, but results elsewhere didn't go our way, meaning we finished eighth for the second year in a row. But at least the fans, returning to the Emirates, had a victory to cheer - as well as two well-taken goals. The team emerged from the tunnel to a roar that belied the 10,000 inside the stadium - our largest attendance since we faced West Ham in March 2020. The energy from the stands was soon transmitted onto the pitch. Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka both tried their luck in the very early stages, while Pepe had an effort charged down after being set up by Aubameyang. We were looking bright in possession, and looked like we had taken the lead when Rob Holding bundled the ball just over the line from a corner, but it was disallowed for offside. Gabriel hit the bar with a looping header from a deep Xhaka cross late in the half as we pressed for the opening goal. We were making all of the running, as you expect with European football next season still up for grabs, but we could not capitalise on our pressure in the first half, and went in level at the break. The scores from elsewhere at half-time had us moving up one place to eighth, but we could go no higher without getting earning all three points here. More was needed, and just five minutes after the interval, we broke the deadlock. Calum Chambers fired in a low cross, Pepe controlled it with his left foot before crashing home with his right. It was his 15th of the season, and 10 minutes later he bagged number 16. Martin Odegaard fed the Ivorian in the inside right position, and Pepe showed all the confidence of a man who's netted eight goals in his last 11 appearances, to slide the ball into the corner. With Tottenham and Everton both trailing in their games, we were on course for seventh place, and European football again. We had no intention of sitting back on the lead though. Thomas Partey came within inches of scoring his first Gunners goal when he controlled Xhaka's pass, then smashed a shot against the bar with the keeper Robert Sanchez beaten. However, as news of Tottenham's late goals filtered around the stadium, the atmosphere became more subdued, and ultimately our final-day win was not enough. #arsenal #nicolaspepe #premierleague Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Luiz, Vivianne Miedema, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Leah Williamson, Bernd Leno, Danielle van de Donk, Willian, Hector Bellerin, Jordan Nobbs, Bukayo Saka, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and more. Three fine goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Nicolas Pepe and Willian saw us claim a 3-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. After the disappointment of our European exit on Thursday night, Mikel Arteta’s side were expected to deliver a response here – and they did just that. But it took some time to get going, and in fact it was the visitors who twice went closest in the early stages through the dangerous Matheus Pereira. Gradually we began to assert our dominance, and when we upped the tempo the Baggies struggled to live with us – especially down our left flank, where Bukayo Saka took centre stage. The England international was playing out of position at left back – not that you’d have known it - and on the half-hour mark it was no surprise that our opening goal was created by him. After being played in by Willian following patient build-up play, Saka looked up and picked out the onrushing Smith Rowe, who had raced into the box and volleyed in on the run with his left foot. It was a lovely strike, but there was even better to follow just five minutes later. This time the goal stemmed from an attack up the right as Calum Chambers – enjoying another eye-catching display – fed Pepe, who cut inside and curled a sensational strike into the top-left hand corner. It was a high-class goal, and no more than our dominance deserved – and we had further chances to add to our advantage before the break through Gabriel Martinelli, Chambers and Saka. We continued to pile forward after the interval, with Pepe and Smith Rowe both testing Sam Johnstone early on, while a fine Saka cross not long afterwards just evaded Martinelli and Smith Rowe. But out of the blue, the Baggies pulled one back when Pereira raced at the heart of our defence and fired a low shot beyond Bernd Leno and into the far corner. The goal offered the visitors hope, and we had some nervy moments during the closing stages. But in the 90th minute, Willian stepped up to curl a free kick into the top corner to wrap up the win, open his account for the club and relegate Sam Allardyce’s side in the process. #arsenal #emilesmithrowe #nicolaspepe #willian #premierleague Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Luiz, Vivianne Miedema, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Leah Williamson, Bernd Leno, Danielle van de Donk, Willian, Hector Bellerin, Jordan Nobbs, Bukayo Saka, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and more.
