The team is currently placed in the sixth position in the points table having accumulated eight points with a net run rate of -0.510. PBKS boasts a potent bowling attack with Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Chahar forming a formidable partnership while the return of Kagiso Rabada from injury is expected to bolster their firepower. Furthermore the emergence of Sam Curran as a reliable all-rounder has brought much-needed balance to the PBKS squad owing to his consistent contributions across departments. And the last two games are more evidence that Dhoni and Co. are back to their best; winning by 7 wickets (SRH) and 47 runs (KKR). So what has clicked? The batting. Gaikwad Conway Rahane and Dube have been among the runs. In fact the resurgence of Rahane has boosted their middle over play as he's striking at close to 200. Tushar Deshpande is another player who has excelled under Dhoni and is the highest wicket-taker in the team while Jadeja has been a bank with the ball. The team is coming together and they're starting to peak at the halfway mark. Other teams better watch out! That’s the end of the innings. A brilliant batting display from the Rajasthan Royals comes to an end as they post a mammoth 202 on the board the highest total on this ground in IPL. The foundation was laid by Yashasvi Jaiswal at the start and cameos from Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel at the back end of the innings have helped them finish with a flourish. The Chennai Super Kings have an uphill task ahead of them. Batting first the Royals got off to a sensational start thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal. The youngster from Mumbai came out all guns blazing and hit some glorious shots up front. He struck at a brisk rate and his opening partner Jos Buttler played the role of a second fiddle. The Royals scored 64 at the end of the powerplay. There was no stopping Jaiswal as he continued playing his strokes after the fielding restrictions. He brought up his fifty off just 26 balls. Ravindra Jadeja broke the 86-run opening stand when he dismissed Buttler on 27. Skipper Sanju Samson departed on a run-a-ball 17 in the 14th over. Tushar Deshpande dismissed Jaiswal on a 43-ball 77 in the same over which helped CSK to get back in the contest. The Super Kings bowled well and the Royals lost Shimron Hetmyer (8) in the 17th over who was promoted up the order. Devdutt Padikkal joined Dhruv Jurel and both played some excellent shots. Both Padikkal (27* off 13 balls) and Jurel (34 off 15 balls) hit some lusty blows at the end to power their side to 202 at the end of their 20 overs. The Super Kings picked up five wickets in total with Deshpande finishing with two. They went on a journey throughout their innings. An odd ball is turning and gripping but the surface looks good for batting. The Super Kings will have to create history tonight as they will be chasing the highest total at this venue. Rajasthan Royals arrived in Chepauk and pulled off a job. They will now come into this contest on the back of two defeats but that win in Chennai will hold them in good stead. Jos Buttler, who hasn't fired in the last few games, delivered in that contest in Chepauk a couple of weeks ago and Royals were also aided by contributions from R Ashwin, Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer. Buttler's form has directly coincided with RR's fortunes without a doubt. The English swashbuckler hammered over 200 runs in the first four games but has managed just 40 in the last three, including two ducks. Apart from Buttler, the Royals also need a significant contribution from their skipper. Sanju Samson started off with a bang, scoring 97 runs in the first two games. But he has made only 84 in the next five. What could add to Samson's challenge is the surface in Jaipur. Batting wasn't exactly easier in the only game played here so far. That could play into their hands given how CSK have been putting up big scores. What the Royals wouldn't want on Thursday is another loss. They won four out of their opening five games but have stuttered a bit in the last two games. A third loss on the trot would put them under a bit of pressure. CSK crossed 100 in the 11th over when Shivam Dube (50 off 21) walked in at number 4 and continued where Conway left off hitting 5 big sixes and 2 fours bringing up his 50 in 20 balls. Rahane and Dube the Mumbai boys added 85 runs for the third wicket when Dube perished in the 18th over to Kulwant Khejroliya. Ravindra Jadeja also scored quickly in his 8-ball 18-run cameo to push CSK past 200. Their young bowlers are improving too with each passing game and overall we are in for a cracking contest. Royal Challengers Bangalore RCB's Indian middle-order that is missing Rajat Patidar have managed a best score of 26 (Lomror) in the four games so far and that adds to the pressure on their 'Big 3' and also forced them into a panic Impact Substitute move in the last game of getting Anuj Rawat in when they would have otherwise beefed up their bowling ahead of a target defence. Thankfully for them however even with that change they have enough of a bowling depth to go around. Tactics & Matchups: RCB have been the best bowling side (CSK are the worst) in the Powerplays this season with Mohammed Siraj in particular conceding at just 4.7RPO and taking three wickets across 10 Powerplay overs. He has never dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad over 36 balls in the IPL but with both men in equally good form the winner of their battle could set up how the rest of the game develops. Chennai Super Kings CSK will have at least one enforced change from their last game with Sisanda Magala out with a split webbing.
