The offseason may be here for the Detroit Red Wings, but there’s still plenty happening around the organization and its future. Today’s lead story focuses on Everett Silvertips forward Matias Vanhanen, a draft eligible prospect who is putting together a tremendous WHL playoff run alongside Red Wings prospect Carter Bear. Everett has stormed into the WHL Finals with a dominant 12-1 postseason record, and Vanhanen has been one of the driving forces behind it all. Currently projected around the 55th overall range in the upcoming NHL Draft, Vanhanen could realistically be available when Detroit makes their selection. The chemistry with Carter Bear is already there, and his offensive explosion in the playoffs is turning heads at exactly the right time. Also in today’s quick hits: 🏒 Max Plante and Justin Faulk have been named to the preliminary Team USA roster for the upcoming IIHF World Championship. 🏒 Former Red Wings prospect Theodor Niederbach has signed a one-year deal with the Washington Capitals organization. 🏒 The Grand Rapids Griffins have an opportunity to eliminate the Manitoba Moose tonight in Game 4 of their opening round Calder Cup series. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard and Anton Johansson have brought a level of physicality and intensity that Detroit desperately needs more of moving forward. If you want to watch the Griffins playoff run, I’ll have a FloSports link in the description below! The future of the Red Wings organization continues to take shape, and there are some exciting names worth watching right now. #LGRW #DetroitRedWings #GrandRapidsGriffins #MatiasVanhanen #CarterBear #WHL #NHLDraft #MichaelBrandseggNygard #AntonJohansson #7MinuteWings
2003 NBA Playoff Second Round Semifinals Game 1 May 6, 2003🔥 Sacramento Kings vs Dallas Mavericks (Full Game Highlights) 🔥 🏀 Final Score: Kings 124, Mavs 113 📍 American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas 🏀 Game Highlights: The 2003 Western Conference Semifinals opened with two elite Western teams going head-to-head in Dallas. Sacramento came out hot behind Chris Webber’s all-around play and Peja Stojaković’s scoring, building control early and holding off a late Mavericks push. Dallas got balanced scoring from Steve Nash, Michael Finley, Nick Van Exel, and Dirk Nowitzki, but the Kings’ offense was too sharp in a 124-113 Game 1 road win. ⭐ Star Performances: • Chris Webber — 24 PTS, 6 REB, 9 AST • Peja Stojaković — 26 PTS, 9 REB • Vlade Divac — 14 PTS • Mike Bibby — 7 PTS, 7 AST • Doug Christie — 13 PTS, 9 REB • Dirk Nowitzki — 18 PTS, 11 REB • Steve Nash — 20 PTS, 4 REB, 7 AST • Michael Finley — 20 PTS, 5 REB, 3 AST • Nick Van Exel — 20 PTS, 5 AST 📼 Why This Game Stands Out: This game stands out because it was a matchup between two of the West’s most entertaining offensive teams. The Kings’ passing, spacing, and veteran chemistry were on full display, while the Mavericks countered with Dirk, Nash, Finley, and Van Exel. Sacramento stealing Game 1 on the road set the tone for what became a dramatic seven-game playoff series. 🎯 Perfect For Fans Who Love: • Classic early 2000s NBA playoff basketball • Sacramento Kings ball movement and high-scoring offense • Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash-era Mavericks • Chris Webber and Peja Stojaković highlights • Western Conference playoff rivalries before the modern era #KingsVsMavericks #NBAPlayoffs #ChrisWebber #SacramentoKings #DallasMavericks #PejaStojakovic #DirkNowitzki #SteveNash #MikeBibby #VladeDivac #DougChristie #NickVanExel #MichaelFinley #2003NBAPlayoffs #WesternConferenceSemifinals #ClassicNBA #NBATBT #NBAHighlights #NBAClassicGames #NBAFullGame #NBAHistory 📢 Copyright Disclaimer: All footage belongs to the NBA and its respective copyright holders. One early preseason takeaway from Lauren Betts: communication is already a priority. The Mystics rookie said being vocal on both ends is one of the main ways she’s trying to help Washington build chemistry early. #wnba #womensbasketball #wnbabasketball #washingtonmystics #mystics #wnbarookies #ucla #uclawbb
Check out all the best shots from third-round Four-ball at the 2026 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, featuring Billy Horschel, Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick and Davis Thompson, among others. It’s once again time to team up at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the PGA TOUR’s only team event, held at TPC Louisiana. Now in its ninth year as a pairs format, the event mixes Four-ball and Foursomes across four days, delivering a unique test and plenty of volatility as duos battle for momentum and FedExCup points with the Cadillac Championship on the horizon. Fresh off his playoff win at the RBC Heritage, Matt Fitzpatrick teams up with brother Alex Fitzpatrick, forming one of the most in-form pairings in the field. A major storyline sees Brooks Koepka return to the event alongside past champion Shane Lowry who won in 2024 with back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy, while defending champions Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak look to make history as the first team to go back-to-back. Rising stars are also well represented, with Michael Brennan and Johnny Keefer making their debuts, while Blades Brown pairs with Luke Clanton as part of the next wave of talent. International pairings add further intrigue, including Tom Kim with Kevin Yu, and the South African duo of Erik van Rooyen and Christiaan Bezuidenhout. With no other event like it on TOUR, the Zurich Classic blends chemistry, strategy and shot making and with major qualification pathways and Signature Event spots in play, there’s plenty on the line in New Orleans.
