The only thing that was predictable was Arizona did not get their first foul call until 8 minutes in and at 12 had two. (UCLA finished with 8 fouls to Arizona’s 4 with Wilkes with three, Welsh 2, and Holiday 2.) While Holiday and Welsh played well on defense, with Holiday messing with Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Allonzo Trier and Thomas Welsh with six rebounds, the stars were two unexpected players. Gyorgy Goloman was off the charts on most aspects. He made future NBA first round pick Deandre Ayton a jump shooter early, had 2 blocks and 2 steals to go with a nice assist (should be two because he set Alex up with 2 free throws) and four points. GG gave up a couple offense rebounds and dunks but he was +15 for the half. He did all this with no fouls. Alford was looking brilliant by starting GG with Hands over Prince Ali. NEW YORK (AP) — Rodney Bullock scored 17 points to lift Providence to a 77-70 win over Washington in the second game of the 2K Classic on Thursday night. Kalif Young added 12 points for Providence (2-1). Drew Edwards and Alpha Diallo chipped in 11 points apiece, and Kyron Cartwright had 10. Noah Dickerson led all scorers with 19 points for Washington (2-1). Jaylen Nowell finished with 14 points for the Huskies. David Crisp added 12 points and Matisse Thybulle had 10.

Northern Arizona 38, Cal Poly 35: Running back Casey Jahn caught a 12-yard touchdown pass with 21 seconds to play on a fourth down to lift the Lumberjacks to the home win. Jahn had broken up a potential game-ending intercerception on the previous play. Chase Cartwright completed 22-of-35 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns in the back-and-forth contest. Cal Poly QB Chris Brown put the Mustangs up 35-31 with a 7-yard TD run wih 6:31 to play. Brown threw for 214 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 91 yards and two scores. Cartwright drove the Lumberjacks 71 yards in 10 plays in 1:15 with no timeouts for the game-winning score.
