Thomas Tuchel reveals why Billy Gilmour got a rare nod for Chelsea against Fulham. Speaking to Sky Sports, Thomas Tuchel explained that Billy Gilmour started for Chelsea against Fulham because of his commitment shown in training sessions and due to fitness concerns for his side. The Scottish midfielder has found game time tough to come by under Tuchel ever since his appointment. The former PSG boss even stopped a loan move for Gilmour at the end of the January transfer window. Finally some minutes Tuchel started before the game that it was necessary to rest midfielders N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, which is why Gilmour got the nod. Not just that, but the manager was also impressed by the youngster’s attitude in training. Speaking further, Tuchel added why Gilmour is not being used so frequently. He said that it was because he did not want to overwork the teenager. They’ve ended up having a discussion about the protest against the “Super League”, and in this case against the Glazer family, who own Manchester United. Graeme Souness - "I've been in Abramovich's company a couple of times and he's a football nut. He doesn’t care about doubling or tripling his investment, he’s just a football nut.” Graeme Souness made an interesting comparison between the United owners – who bought the club with debt and have extracted money from it, and Roman Abramovich, who owns Chelsea. How many points Chelsea need to win the top-four battle against West Ham, Liverpool, and Tottenham Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel know what it will take to ensure Champions League qualification for the 2021/22 season, the Blues have four Premier League games remaining. Chelsea's hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League this season have been given a massive boost. Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel has refused to get carried away, but with a maximum of five games left of the campaign for some, it is becoming clearer as to which four teams will qualify for the Champions League next season. Although, anything can happen in the Premier League and there's still work for the Blues to do in order to ensure they are at European football's top table in 2021/22. Following Everton's 2-1 loss to Aston Villa, it is looking like one from four for the final Champions League spot - but it could very well turn out to be two from five. So what does this all mean for Chelsea, Tuchel, and the top-four battle? Well, the Blues have four games left in their season, which means they can achieve a maximum of 73 points by the end of the campaign if they beat Manchester City, Arsenal, Leicester City, and Aston Villa. With that said, three wins could be enough. That is because West Ham - in action at Burnley on today night - has five games remaining but can only achieve a maximum points total of 70. And as a result of Chelsea's superior goal difference, 70 points should be enough to seal yet another top-four finish. Liverpool and Tottenham's maximum points total is 69 and 68 respectively, which means Chelsea needs three more wins to ensure neither club finishes above them in the table. In fact, the Blues may have eyes on catching Leicester in third as just two points separates them in the table and they meet at Stamford Bridge in a couple of weeks. Chelsea's remaining Premier League fixtures 08/05 - Man City (away), 12/05 - Arsenal (home), 19/05 - Leicester City (home), 23/05 - Aston Villa (away).
