NHL '94 "Game of the Night" Rangers @ Islanders "1984 Patrick Division Semi Finals" game 5

The 1984 Stanley Cup playoffs, the playoff tournament of the National Hockey League (NHL) began on April 4, after the conclusion of the 1983–84 NHL season. The playoffs concluded on May 19 with the Edmonton Oilers defeating the four-time defending champion New York Islanders 5–2 to win the Stanley Cup Finals four games to one, the franchise's first Stanley Cup. (P1) New York Islanders vs. (P4) New York Rangers This was the sixth playoff series meeting between these two teams. The Islanders won four of the previous five meetings, including in each of the past three seasons. The Islanders won in six games in last year's Patrick Division Finals. The 1984 playoffs largely maintained the format used for the previous two seasons. The four teams with the best regular-season records from each of the four divisions secured playoff berths. The division semi-finals saw the first-place club against the fourth-place team, while the other two teams played against each other. The winning clubs then met in the division final. Home-ice advantage for these first two rounds of the playoffs were granted to the team with the better regular-season record. Division winners then met one another in the conference finals. Leaving behind the coin flip system introduced for the 1982 playoffs, the NHL changed the method by which home-ice advantage is determined for the final two rounds. The higher point total accumulated by teams within a division from contests against teams of the other division in the conference, secured home-ice advantage for the corresponding division champion. Similarly, the higher point total accumulated by teams within a conference from contests against teams of the other conference, secured home-ice advantage for the corresponding conference champion. This formula resulted in home-ice advantage for the Adams and Smythe division champions in the conference finals and resulted in home-ice advantage for the Wales Conference champion in the Stanley Cup finals. The sequence of Stanley Cup Finals games was changed for this season. The series opened with two games at the venue of the team with home-ice advantage and then shifted to the opponent's rink for the next three games, including the fifth (if necessary). The series then returned to the initial venue for the final two games (if necessary). The Islanders lost the first game at home 1–0, but bounced back to defeat the Oilers 6–1 in the second game. NHL '94 "Game of the Night" Senators vs Leafs "Battle of Ontario part deux"
NHL '94 "Game of the Night" Senators vs Leafs "Battle of Ontario part deux"

The Battle of Ontario is a rivalry between the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs. The teams compete in the same division and meet frequently during regular season games. In the early 2000s, the teams met four times in the playoffs with Toronto winning all four series. The Battle of Ontario (French: Bataille de l'Ontario) is a National Hockey League (NHL) rivalry between the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both teams compete in the Atlantic Division and with current NHL scheduling, they meet three to four times per season. Games between the teams are often televised nationally on Hockey Night in Canada. The rivalry has been described as one of the NHL's top rivalries. Games between Toronto and Ottawa ice hockey teams date back before the founding of the NHL. In 1891, the original Senators defeated the Toronto St. George's to win the Ontario ice hockey title. In February 1904, the original Ottawa Senators, aka the 'Silver Seven', defeated the Toronto Marlboros in a Stanley Cup challenge. The Senators were founding members of the National Hockey Association (NHA) in 1910 and Toronto teams joined the NHA two years later. In 1917, the Toronto NHA franchise was turned over to the NHL and joined the Senators as one of the founding teams of the NHL. After the original Ottawa NHL franchise relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, as the Eagles in 1934, With the coming of television broadcasting of NHL games in the 1950s, Ottawa-area NHL hockey fans became fans of other NHL teams. A Toronto-Ottawa sports rivalry continued between the Argonauts and the Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The current Senators entered the NHL in 1992, but the rivalry between the two teams did not begin to emerge until the late 1990s. From 1992 to 1998, Toronto was in the Western Conference and Ottawa was in the Eastern Conference, which meant that the two teams rarely played each other. However, before the 1998–99 season, the conferences and divisions were re-aligned, and Toronto was moved into the Eastern Conference's Northeast Division with the Senators, Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres. The rivalry reached new heights in 2000, as the teams met for the first time in the playoffs with the Maple Leafs dispatching the Senators in six games. Some Maple Leafs fans saw this as revenge, since the Senators' Marian Hossa accidentally clipped the Maple Leafs' Bryan Berard in the eye on March 11, ending the young defenseman's season and almost his career. The next season, they met again in the first round as Ottawa entered the playoffs ranked second in the conference and the Maple Leafs seventh. While the Senators were expected to defeat the Maple Leafs, especially since they had swept the regular season series against them, the Maple Leafs swept the series in a major upset instead; Ottawa did not score their first goal of the series until 16:51 of the third period in the third game. In 2001–02, the teams met in the playoffs for the third-straight year. The two teams were evenly matched, and the Maple Leafs managed to win the second-round series in the full seven games and advance to the conference finals. One notable incident occurred late in game five when Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson hit forward Darcy Tucker in a questionable hit-from-behind,which did not draw a penalty. Seconds after hitting Tucker, he scored the game-winning goal. In 2002–03, the rivalry hit an all-time high when Darcy Tucker attacked the Senators' Chris Neil, who was sitting on the bench. This resulted in numerous players exchanging punches before order was restored. Tucker, Neil and Shane Hnidy all received fighting majors and game misconducts for the same incident. After the game, Tucker claimed Neil spit on him, an allegation which Neil denied. The NHL board looked into this claim and concluded that Tucker's allegation was false. Tempers remained frayed, especially with 1:23 to play, when Toronto's Tie Domi went after Magnus Arvedson and threw several punches at Arvedson. Video evidence showed Arvedson spearing Domi just prior, awaiting the faceoff. Domi received a roughing minor, instigator minor, fighting major, misconduct and game misconduct. Arvedson did not get a penalty on the play. Suspensions were announced a few hours after Tucker and Domi appeared at NHL head offices in Toronto for a hearing. Tucker was suspended for five games, without pay, after it was determined that Neil did not spit at Toronto's bench. Domi was suspended for three games, also without pay. A total of 163 minutes in penalties were called in the game.

Full Video Here Fam: https://youtu.be/_xuj5hYp6A0 Russell said he never would have played in the NBA, if St. Louis were to draft him. And Boston Celtics coach Red Auerbach wasn’t letting that happen. The Celtics were the first to draft an African American player, 6 years earlier. They were also the first team to play 5 African Americans on a team. Auerbach traded up to number 2 in the draft with the Hawks, to land what his team had needed to reach the next level. The Celtics already had the best passer in the league at the time, Bob Cousy. They had just gone 36 and 36, 3rd in the East, and lost the Eastern Conference(Division back then) Finals to the Syracuse Nationals. Red Auerbach said he doesn't know what Russell does, he'd never seen anything like it, so he couldn’t make him any better, he was already a goat. Russell added 14 points per game his rookie year, and 20 rebounds a game(19.6). This was a huge advantage, the rest of the league couldn’t match up with Russell, and defensively he was cookin’ everyone. Not to mention Russell and Cousy decided to create the outlet pass, scoring at will with the first fast break in the history of basketball. Russell would tell everyone to run to the other end of the court as soon as their opponent shot the ball, because Russell was almost always coming down with the board. It took 7 games, but Bill Russell and the Boston Celtics had won their first title. (1957) Not the first dynasty the NBA had ever seen, with George Mikan taking that title in the early 50s winning 4 titles with the Lakers He became the the first African American coach of the major leagues in 1966, and won 2 titles in his three coaching years. (first African American coach in the four major American sports leagues.) https://www.mercurynews.com/2022/09/07/oakland-school-community-remembers-bill-russell-says-his-generosity-will-continue-well-into-the-future/ The night before game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Lakers, Russ had been out at a bar when a fight broke out. Bill tried to break it up, but in doing so accidentally gets stabbed. Luckily Bill Russell was an absolute psychopath when it came to wining. He showed up with his stab wound, played the whole game, and won it and the title. In his entire career, Russell faced elimination 30 times. In those 30 games, he won 28 of them, and only lost 2. He had the Michael Jordan, or Kobe mentality before we knew what that was. Russell/Wilt Rivalry//Friendship And that Bums and Heroes mentality of the media would be how they framed basketball’s biggest rivalry of the time. In the 8 playoff series against Wilt, his team only won once. Bill’s overall record against him was 86 and 57. Wilt was taller, bigger, and stronger, but Russell had that psychopathic winners mentality unmatched in sports at the time. They put their friendship aside in 1969, as the Lakers and Celtics once again go to game 7 in the NBA Finals. Russell had a plan, he and Cousy would fast break the Lakers to death. Which worked great, as the Celtics were up 17 going into the 4th quarter. Conclusion In 1975, he would be inducted into the Hall of Fame. But he protested it, saying several African American players should’ve been inducted before him. He always stood up for what was right. When Boston retired his jersey number, the crowd gave him a standing ovation. But he didn’t acknowledge them, after all the city had put him through his career, the city didn’t like that at the time, but later he would come back for another ceremony where he’d acknowledge the crowd Bill Russell retired in 1969, at 35 years old. He won 11 titles, averaged 15 and 22 a game, and won 5 MVP’s in his career, 12 time all star won 4 rebounding titles 11 times made all NBA, and is one of the greatest athletes to walk the Earth. Founded on 6 March 1902 as Madrid Football Club, the club has traditionally worn a white home kit since inception. The honorific title real is Spanish for "royal" and was bestowed to the club by King Alfonso XIII in 1920 together with the royal crown in the emblem. The team has played its home matches in the 81,044-capacity Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in downtown Madrid since 1947. Unlike most European sporting entities, Real Madrid's members (socios) have owned and operated the club throughout its history. Real Madrid established itself as a major force in both Spanish and European football during the 1950s, winning five consecutive European Cups and reaching the final seven times. This success was replicated in the league, which the club won five times in the space of seven years. This team, which included Alfredo Di Stéfano, Ferenc Puskás, Francisco Gento, and Raymond Kopa, is considered by some in the sport to be the greatest team of all time. In domestic football, the club has won 67 trophies; a record 34 La Liga titles, 19 Copa del Rey, 12 Supercopa de España, a Copa Eva Duarte, and a Copa de la Liga. In European and worldwide competitions, Real Madrid have won a record 26 trophies; a record 13 European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Cups and four UEFA Super Cups. In international football, they have achieved a record seven club world championships. Real Madrid was recognised as the FIFA Club of the 20th Century on 11 December 2000 with 42.35% of the vote, and received the FIFA Centennial Order of Merit on 20 May 2004. The club was also awarded Best European Club of the 20th Century by the IFFHS on 11 May 2010. In June 2017, the team succeeded in becoming the first club to win consecutive Champions League titles, then made it three in a row and four in five seasons in May 2018, extending their lead atop the UEFA club rankings. As of 2020, Real Madrid are ranked third behind Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Keylor Navas Keilor Antonio Navas Gamboa (born 15 December 1986), known as Keylor Navas, is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Costa Rica national team. Navas started his youth career at Saprissa in his home country, where he won six Liga FPD titles and the CONCACAF Champions League, he subsequently moved to Spanish club Albacete in 2010, and then to Levante in La Liga the following year, where he won the LFP Award for Best Goalkeeper in his final season with the latter club. Navas later joined Real Madrid in 2014 for €10 million. He won a total of twelve titles with Real Madrid, including one La Liga title and three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles as the first choice goalkeeper. In 2019, he was signed by French club Paris Saint-Germain. Navas has made over 100 appearances for Costa Rica since making his debut in 2008. He has represented the country at two CONCACAF Gold Cups and the 2014 and 2018 editions of the FIFA World Cup. He was a member of the Costa Rica national team that reached the semi-finals of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup, in which he was named best goalkeeper. His impressive performances also helped the team reach the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup. Often considered one of the world's best goalkeepers, the best in the history of CONCACAF, and one of the best in the history of Latin America, Navas has also won numerous individual awards. He was named CONCACAF Men's Goalkeeper of the Year for three consecutive years between 2016 and 2018. He was also named the best male CONCACAF Player of the Decade 2011–2020 by the IFFHS.
