The New Orleans Saints fell victim to some curious moments in last week's loss to the New York Giants. From that game came a lot of questions about QB Jameis Winston and head coach Sean Payton and the trust between the two. But is trust really the dynamic at play? Or is it something more nuanced? How the New Orleans Saints move forward could plummet their end of year aspirations or skyrocket them into top-10 offensive consideration. How returns like Michael Thomas, Tre'Quan Smith, Terron Armstead, and Erik McCoy factor in will be key. Keys to victory for the New Orleans Saints offense aren't just about one quarterback. How Taysom Hill can play a large role in this matchup with the Washington Football Team and why being under center is not the answer. Analytics show that winning on early downs will be important for the Saints in Washington as they are at the bottom of the league in 3rd down defense. On the defensive side, a couple of Ohio State Buckeyes are the marquee matchup. Washington's Terry McLaurin will look to continue his streak of catches without drops up against former teammate Marshon Lattimore who looks to help the Saints defense rebound after the Giants loss. Cameron Jordan in for an important game in pass rush up against a sub-par WFT right side, and why the Saints defense should neither bend nor break for the sake of the offense. The New Orleans Saints, led by Jameis Winston and Alvin Kamara will look to find balance in their offense as they travel to Landover, MD to take on the Washington Football team and young quarterback Taylor Heinicke. A matchup for the ages could come to light with former Ohio State Buckeyes cornerback Marshon Lattimore and wide receiver Terry McLaurin face off while the WFT offense fights off injuries all over their skill position areas. Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints offense will look to maintain their aggression, get ahead early, and stay ahead after an uncharacteristic fold against the New York Giants last weekend. Demario Davis and the Saints defense will look for a bounce back performance at FedEx Field. The New Orleans Saints claimed a statement win in Foxborough against the New England Patriots, but lost yet another key player for extended time after star tackle Terron Armstead suffered an elbow injury. Armstead is expected to miss three to six weeks and thus could go to injured reserve. Expect James Hurst to step into his role in his stead. While the Saints may be adding another name to IR, five players are now eligible to return, depending on their injury recovery. Wil Lutz and Tre'Quan Smith could be two important players making their way back to the active roster in the coming weeks. Nick Vannet, Will Clapp, and Ken Crawley could all be of great value as well. The Saints are finally back in the Big Easy and excited to get back to their long-awaited Caesars Superdome opener. This will be the first fully-attended New Orleans Saints game since the January 5th, 2020 playoff exit against the Minnesota Vikings. The Who Dat Nation is ready to make some noise and a top-5 NFL defense will be ready for their help. The Saints knocked the Patriots down some key efficiency rankings on the offensive side. However, the Saints and Giants are evenly matched on offensive efficiency so for this season. The difference? The Saints will be facing the Giants 28th ranked defense in terms of efficiency while New York may struggle to topple the 2nd ranked unit in New Orleans. This could be a good opportunity for the Saints offense to kick into gear. But the biggest reason for this highly ranked Saints team comes down to the stars on the defense. Marshon Lattimore, Demario Davis, Marcus Williams, and others have led the way to start the season allowing only 14 points per game. The New Orleans Saints will look to bounce back in Week 3 against the New England Patriots following a disappointing loss to the Carolina Panthers last week. On the offensive side, a big day from star running back Alvin Kamara would go a long way against a Patriots defense that gave up more than 4.9 yards per carry to the New York Jets in Week 2. Saints quarterback Jameis Winston and the offense line which struggled last week will be looking to improve upon their Week 2 performances as well. With any rookie quarterback, pressure is key. The Saints will look to pressure Mac Jones and limit his safety nets throughout the offense. New Orleans will hope to return both Marshon Lattimore and C.J. Garner-Johnson for this matchup. Both of which would play large roles in the success of the Saints this weekend. WWL-TV's Ricardo LeCompte joins to discuss where New Orleans will improve heading into Week 3, why the maturation of Jameis Winston is important, and which players recovering from injury could have the biggest impact against the Patriots. The New Orleans Saints were without nine starters in Sunday's loss against the Carolina Panthers. Which starters were missed the most? There's reasonable argument for Michael Thomas, Kwon Alexander, and Marshon Lattimore. But two 2019 draft steals could have made a huge difference in the results of the loss. Center Erik McCoy and defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson both would have held roles and responsibilities integral to the team's success in Charlotte. The exotic looks and blitz packages from the Carolina front, McCoy has seen before along with Drew Brees. The task of shutting down Christian McCaffrey is easy for no defender, but Gardner-Johnson was said to be a big part of the Saints' game plan in that arena. In today's Locked On Saints, host Ross Jackson delves into the the changes the team had to make without these key players, what struggles their absences created, and where the outlook gets better moving forward. Additionally, which injuries from last week's reports to keep an eye on this week and how a restructure of wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith's contract signifies the possible return to the field for a familiar face at wideout. The New Orleans Saints put on a big time effort and set the tone for the 2021 NFL season with a big win over the Green Bay Packers. However, they'll always look for ways to improve. With Erik McCoy expected to miss some time, the offensive line will get some attention with the addition of Austin Reiter. Cesar Ruiz and Calvin Throckmorton performed valiantly in McCoy's absence, but improvements are clear. Rookie cornerback Paulson Adebo performed well, but the secondary had some moments get away from them. how will that factor into Marshon Lattimore's expected absence? Doug Mouton of WWL joins to discuss Jameis Winston's play, the Saints' defense, and look ahead to the matchup in Carolina as the Saints look to get off to a hot start in 2021. On today's Locked On Saints, host Ross Jackson breaks down all 24 of Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston's combined passes as the New Orleans Saints squared off with the Baltimore Ravens to open up the 2021 NFL preseason. Looking at accuracy, turnover-worth throws, running the Payton scheme, and much more to try to find a separation between these two quarterbacks. As the competition rolls along on Airline Drive, a winner is going to have to be selected, here's where we think they should go if the decision were made today. Another look at the Saints defenders who stood out on Saturday. Marcus Davenport had a great game, why David Onyemata played on the edge so much, and other defensive standouts. Players have already been cut by the Saints ahead of the first roster trim deadline on Tuesday. From 90 to 85, three cuts have already been reported.
