New Orleans Saints' Offseason Focus Should Be On Reloading Wide Receiver Room
New Orleans Saints' Offseason Focus Should Be On Reloading Wide Receiver Room

The New Orleans Saints defied the odds in 2021, but looking ahead to 2022, the offensive struggles cannot persist. Particularly in the passing game. Rookie cornerback Paulson Adebo and the Saints' retooling of the cornerback position should be an indication of how impactful the team can be if they do focus on this high-value position, even if Michael Thomas is expected to return from his injury. Alabama Wide Receiver Jameson Williams was easily the top WR on many NFL Draft evaluator boards. But now that he's suffered an ACL injury, it could potentially impact the availability of other top wideout prospects like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Drake London, and Treylon Burks. With the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and Denver Broncos all in the head coaching search, could the Saints lose defensive coordinator Dennis Allen this offseason? He and assistant GM/director of college scouting Jeff Ireland should be hot names in the searches around the NFL following Black Monday and the coach firings around the league. New Orleans Saints Miss Playoffs But Affirm Bright Future With Convincing Win
New Orleans Saints Miss Playoffs But Affirm Bright Future With Convincing Win

The New Orleans Saints might not be postseason bound, but they did enough in Atlanta to handle their business and remind their players, future players, and others paying attention of their competitive spirit and winning culture. Between loosing Drew Brees, chopping down the salary cap, replacing players at just about every position, a record-breaking 58 unique starters, Hurricane Ida, and COVID outbreaks, the New Orleans Saints went through the ringer. But whether it was Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, Tevor Siemian, or Ian Book under center, Sean Payton was prepared and ready to compete - a clear Coach of the Year candidate. Cam Jordan, Kwon Alexander, Alvin Kamara, and Marcus Davenport - among others - all had standout performances in the Saints' 30-20 victory over the rival Atlanta Falcons. Although the Los Angeles Rams couldn't hold up their end of the bargain and the Saints will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2017, New Orleans needs not be pitied. As the team proved itself to be one of the most competitive and resilient rosters in the NFL. Offseason storylines are on the way. Will Dennis Allen be the Saints defensive coordinator? Will the Saints be able to keep Marcus Williams? What's happening at quarterback? All just part of what is setting up to be a very intriguing offseason in the Big Easy. New Orleans Saints Have To Handle Business Against The Atlanta Falcons
New Orleans Saints Have To Handle Business Against The Atlanta Falcons

The New Orleans Saints are one win and little help away from another playoff performance. What Alvin Kamra, Taysom Hill, Cam Jordan, and other Saints stars need to do to get a win against the Atlanta Falcons with a little help from the Los Angeles Rams. Pre-snap conflict, sheer want and will all factor in to what the Saints have to do on the offensive side as is the health of the o-line with Terron Armstead, Erik McCoy, and Ryan Ramczyk. Cam Jordan, Marcus Davenport, and David Onyemata look to pressure Matt Ryan and eliminate the run game while looking to limit the big plays to Kyle Pitts and Cordarrelle Patterson. Ricardo LeCompte of WWLTV joins to talk Sean Payton, Saints chances against the Falcons, and a potential matchup with the Los Angeles Rams if they make the playoffs. New Orleans Saints Schemed Alvin Kamara, Run Game Back To Life Vs. Panthers
New Orleans Saints Schemed Alvin Kamara, Run Game Back To Life Vs. Panthers

The New Orleans Saints, Alvin Kamara, Taysom Hill, and the run game struggled early against the Carolina Panthers, but found a way to turn it all around in the second half. The Saints could look to use some of what they found success running this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons in an attempt to continue to revitalize the run game ahead of their potential playoff run. P.J. William has reinvented, rejuvenated, and reignited his game and value for this upcoming season. From concern on the outside, to viability in the slot, to reliability anywhere you need him on defense. P.J. Williams has found a way to increase his skillset with a variety of tools and roles that make him an important piece to hold on to this offseason. Five questions ahead of the New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons matchup. COuld this be Taysom Hill's final chance this season to make sure he isn't forgotten in the offseason quarterback chatter? Will Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk get back to the lineup? And can the Los Angeles Rams knock off the San Francisco 49ers paving the way for New Orleans to make a fifth-straight playoff appearance? That and more with the big questions that lie ahead of Sunday's afternoon action. New Orleans Saints Top Performers: Taysom Hill, Marquez Callaway, Cam Jordan & More
New Orleans Saints Top Performers: Taysom Hill, Marquez Callaway, Cam Jordan & More

The New Orleans Saints may hold the current record for most unique starters, but that hasn't impacted them the way it has other teams with similar availability concerns. A large part of that has to do with their ability to win win several different players at various positions. Taysom Hill at quarterback, Marquez Callaway at wide receiver, and a dominating defense continue to prove that the Saints are a top competitive team in the NFL, regardless of record. The Saints offensive line has been a legitimate cause for concern recently with all of the injuries and COVID issues. But they held up well against a very aggressive Carolina Panthers defensive pursuit. Taysom Hill navigated the blitz and other key areas well without turning the ball over and the Saints leaned on Alvin Kamara's toughness to continue to produce on the ground and through the air. Marquez Callaway almost had another break out game, but still stood out and help his team produce through the air. As for the Saints defense,Cameron Jordan makes waves with three and a half sacks, C.J. Gardner-Johnson made his presence undeniable with pass rush and coverage success, and rookie cornerback Paulson Adebo continues to quietly play a physical and underrated high-level game. Marshon Lattimore, Demario Davis, David Onyemata, and Marcus Davenport all founds ways to impact the game as well. Cam Jordan, New Orleans Saints Defense Keep Fighting For NFL Playoff Push
Cam Jordan, New Orleans Saints Defense Keep Fighting For NFL Playoff Push

The New Orleans Saints have been through so much this season that even being able to talk about them as potential playoff contenders highlights their resilience. Displaced to start the season, down a Hall of Fame quarterback in Drew Brees, several battles through the COVID complications across the NFL, relentless injury news, and so much more. The Saints have had their backs against the wall all season but the team's leaders on the field and off have never stopped punching. Head Coach Sean Payton deserves a ton of credit for the job this team has done. Now one win and just a little help away from a fifth-straight playoff appearance. The Saints were led by their defense again, but their special teams and offensive units did exactly what they needed to do to win. No turnovers by Taysom Hill, Alvin Kamra, and the Saints offense. Blake Gillikin, JT Gray, and the special teams unit flipped the field with great results. And the defense kept in pursuit of Sam Darnold and the Carolina Panthers, completely shutting them down in the second half, sacking Darnold 7 times, and generating two key takeaways including another game-sealing interception by C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Defensive end Cam Jordan is more than an edge rusher. As an edge defender and unflappable leader, he's been the tone-setter for the New Orleans Saints defense for over a decade and instead of slowing down, he's picking up. With 7.5 sacks over the last three games, Jordan surpasses 10 sacks for the sixth time in his career and has turned his Hall of Fame resume into one that no longer questions his claim to Canton, but turns it into a matter of when, not if. Marcus Davenport, New Orleans Saints Pass Rush Improving At The Right Time
Marcus Davenport, New Orleans Saints Pass Rush Improving At The Right Time

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton spoke with media on Wednesday afternoon to discuss their plans in preparing for the Carolina Panthers in Week 17. While Malcolm Jenkins and Juwan Johnson have been activated from the COVID/reserve list, the Saints are still awaiting key players who are expected to start returning in the coming days. Though there's no definite timeline on all 22 players, there are key contributors expected to be available for Sunday's matchup with the Panthers. Marcus Davenport and Cam Jordan have led the arrival of the Saints pass rush over the last few weeks. Key pressures, sacks, and takeaways have been the result. Why the Saints pass rush is spiking at the right time, and what it means as they look to close out the season with wins and a shot at the playoffs. Monday night's loss to the Miami Dolphins was a tough one. But many circumstances, such as the absences for Malcolm Jenkins, Demario Davis, and Kwon Alexander, and the need to start their fourth-string rookie QB, are not expected to be permanent ones. John Madden shaped multiple generations of football fans and will continue to have an impact beyond his days. RIP John Madden. New Orleans Saints's Monday Night Struggles Disappointing, But Surmountable
New Orleans Saints's Monday Night Struggles Disappointing, But Surmountable

The New Orleans Saints may have dropped their Monday night Miami Dolphins matchup, but their season still isn't over. The Saints have every intent on competing and still getting to the playoffs, and the road isn't an insurmountable one. The Saints were up against some challenging circumstances this week, most of which temporary, which leaves the door open for hope and optimism with two NFC South games left to go. Ian Book struggled in his debut, completing only 60% of passes and throwing a pick-six. But he, just like the Saints team as a whole, had the cards stacked against him from the outset. A makeshift offensive line that featured a player that hadn't taken an NFL snap since 2017, pass-catchers that have drawn concern all season, and a run game that couldn't get going. Evaluating Book off of this game is nearly futile, but some questions should be asked about the usage of Alvin Kamara. On a good note, rookie Pete Werner had a debut of his own as the defensive signal caller and performed remarkably well. He led the team in tackles, played really well in the run game and contributed in coverage as well. The future of the former Ohio State Buckeye is a bright one.
