FA Cup prize money How much Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs get if they win in 4th round

FA Cup prize money: How much Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs get if they win in 4th round. Arsenal take on Manchester United on Friday night while Manchester City vs Burnley is the pick of the games on Saturday. Tottenham, against Crystal Palace, and Chelsea, who take on Sheffield Wednesday, are in action on Sunday. As part of the FA’s prize pool, winners of clashes this weekend will bank £180,000 in prize money. That doubles up to £360,000 in the fifth round, £720,000 for the quarter-final and £1.8m for semi-final winners. The overall winners then take home £3.6m in the final. Extra preliminary round winners (184) £2,250 Losers receive £750 Preliminary round winners (160) £2,890 Losers receive £960 First round qualifying winners (116) £6,000 Second Round Qualifying winners (80) £9,000 Third Round Qualifying winners (40) £15,000 Fourth Round Qualifying winners (32) £25,000 First Round Proper winners (40) £36,000 Second Round Proper winners (20) £54,000 Third Round Proper winners (32) £135,000 Fourth Round Proper winners (16) £180,000 Fifth Round Proper winners (8) £360,000 Quarter-Final winners (4) £720,000 Semi-Final winners (2) £1,800,000 Semi-Final losers (2) £900,000 Final runners-up (1) £1,800,000 Final winners (1) £3,600,000 English Football League clubs that cause FA Cup upsets this weekend could earn themselves an extra £250,000 thanks to a new Divisional Progress Prize fund. The money will go to the club from each of the EFL's three divisions that goes furthest in this year's cup, with the pot being shared if more than one team from the same division goes out at the same stage. That means League Two's Newport and Oldham, who both knocked out Premier League opposition in the third round, will get £125,000 each if they lose their fourth-round ties at Middlesbrough and Doncaster, respectively, but one could scoop the lot if they get to the fifth round and the other does not. The field is more competitive further up the pyramid, as there are six League One sides still in the competition and 10 from the Championship. But with seven all-EFL contests among the 16 fourth-round ties, the picture will be very different after the last game on Monday evening, when the Championship's Brentford plays the National League's Barnet. In a statement, the FA's director of professional game relations, Andy Ambler, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer this substantial financial reward to EFL clubs competing in the Emirates FA Cup. "At the start of the season, we doubled the competition prize fund to £30.2million - an increased investment which will have a positive impact on clubs at all levels of the game." The FA has been able to increase the prize funds thanks to the bumper domestic and international broadcast deals it secured for the world's oldest domestic football competition in 2016. EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey added: "The financial rewards that are earned as a result of progressing through the rounds in the Emirates FA Cup deliver a huge boost to EFL clubs and the addition of a £250,000 divisional prize provides an even greater return that recognises a club's success."

Jose Mourinho will have thought THIS during Man Utd win over Tottenham Phil Thompson
Jose Mourinho will have thought THIS during Man Utd win over Tottenham Phil Thompson

Jose Mourinho will have thought THIS during Man Utd win over Tottenham - Phil Thompson. Mourinho was sacked by United one month ago on Friday after a dreadful start to his third season in charge. The Portuguese boss publicly challenged senior players, criticised the board’s strict control over the purse strings and bored fans with a negative style of play which culminated in his dismissal. Mourinho was a pundit on beIN SPORTS on Thursday in his first TV appearance since being axed, and made sly digs at the way the club was run during his airtime. “A club must have an owner or president, a CEO or director executive, a sports director or football director, and then the manager,” he said. “And this is a structure that can cope with all the modernity that football brings us. “For me the club must be very well organised to cope with these type of situations. Where the manager is only the manager and not the man that is trying keep the discipline and trying to get the players.” United are shaking up their structure, as they intend to appoint a director of football. But the austerity with which Mourinho spoke came off was interpreted as bitter by some watching. And Thompson believes Mourinho would have been feeling sorry for himself last Sunday, when United pulled off a 1-0 win at Tottenham thanks to a virtuosic performance from David de Gea, in which he made 11 saves. “Mourinho will have been thinking: 'That would have gone against me, De Gea would not have saved that,’” Thompson told Sky Sports, before lauding the atmosphere which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has created. “Everyone had been waiting on the Spurs game to see if it was real. “In the first half they were excellent but the second half they were hanging on and De Gea saved them. “One of the things that happens when you are doing well is that you get away with things. “There has been a massive improvement and they can finish in the top four. Earning 15 points out of 15 is hard work.”

Kyrie Irving to Lakers Astonishing trade claim made by NBA expert over LeBron James
Kyrie Irving to Lakers Astonishing trade claim made by NBA expert over LeBron James

Kyrie Irving to Lakers: Astonishing trade claim made by NBA expert over LeBron James. Irving has the opportunity to become a free agent at the end of this season, and has a player option for a one-year extension. And NBA analyst Chris Broussard believes that there is a chance he will opt out of his contract in the summer and head West for a reunion with his old team-mate. James and Irving played together for two years at the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning the 2016 NBA Championship. But the pair reportedly fell out after the championship win, due in part to Irving wanting to lead the team more. James, the elder and more experienced superstar, wanted to take Irving under his wing and teach him how to lead a team, but the youngster wanted it all too quickly. Irving ended up being traded to the Boston Celtics, where he immediately became the face of the franchise. However, after a disappointing defeat to the Orlando Magic on Saturday night, he slammed his younger team-mates for not having what it takes to win a championship. He admitted that he called James afterwards to apologise for the way he treated the superstar when he was that young player with the Cavs. And Broussard believes there is a chance that after their reconciliation, the duo might line up together next season in Los Angeles. The Lakers are still looking for a new star to play alongside James, with a trade move for Anthony Davis expected to be made in the summer. But according to Broussard, there is a chance that Irving will fill that gap. “Would Kyrie go back to LeBron? Would he go to the Lakers?” he asked on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “He [James] loved Kyrie. He had major respect for Kyrie’s game. “They worked, and Kyrie is recognising that now. “He has to ask himself, do I want the responsibility of being the team leader? “In Cleveland, he could just ball. Him and LeBron never had a blow-up, they helped each-other. “Kyrie would be at LeBron’s house, he would be teaching him things about business, now Kyrie wants to start a media company. They had a good, solid relationship. “Kyrie was the type to go to the gym, do his workout, and go home, whereas LeBron would have to deal with all the egos and bring everyone together. “Kyrie now has to deal with all that, and he’s said not everybody is cut out for this, so we can infer from his comments that he isn’t cut out from it. Maybe he just wants to ball, there’s no shame in that. “If he decides, I just want to ball and win titles, he could join LeBron and the Lakers.”

Man Utd news How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shocked United stars in Old Trafford dressing room
Man Utd news How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shocked United stars in Old Trafford dressing room

Man Utd news: How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shocked United stars in Old Trafford dressing room. Solskjaer was appointed by Ed Woodward on a temporary basis in December after Jose Mourinho paid the price for United’s worst ever start to a Premier League season. And the Red Devils have since strung together an impressive run of six wins on the bounce in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and conceding just three. Manchester United’s fifth win in that sequence came a little under two weeks ago as they dumped Championship side Reading out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage. It seems Solskjaer saw that match as the perfect opportunity to show a different side of his personality as a warning in case things go sour at Old Trafford. According to the London Evening Standard, Solskjaer left United players shocked as he screamed at them in the dressing room despite leading 2-0. A Juan Mata penalty and Romelu Lukaku’s injury time strike had effectively put the match beyond Reading’s reach. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not altogether happy with the performance and used the opportunity to remind his much-changed team he’s no soft touch. Solskjaer’s approach seems to have earned him more admirers amongst the United squad, some of whom already adored him due to his playing exploits in Manchester. And it has been claimed there is support for him to be handed the reins on a full-time basis once the season draws to a close. However Paul Ince, who left United the year before Solskjaer arrived, claims he could have had the same impact as the Norwegian. And he’s claimed United should carry on their pursuit of No 1 managerial target Mauricio Pochettino rather than appoint Solskjaer. "We can’t get too sucked in with what Ole’s done," Ince said. "Let’s be honest, it couldn’t get any worse at Manchester United before Jose Mourinho left. "There was a dark cloud over the entire club, the players, the fans and the staff. It was impacting performances on the pitch. "Ole’s come in, a friendly face at the club with a calming influence and it seems as though the players have upped their effort as a result. "The shackles are off, but that doesn’t mean that Ole is the right man for the job. I could have gone in and done the same thing, so could Steve Bruce. "Anyone could have gone in and done what he has done, it wasn’t a hard thing to do to give those players freedom and improve the mood. "So, for the next few years what the club need to do is bring in a manager that can seriously get United competing with City and Liverpool. And of the options available, Pochettino is the man to do that. "The club shouldn’t be making rash decisions, picking a manager just because he’s had six wins on the bounce, all of which came against below average sides bar one. You’d like to think that even under Mourinho they’d have won those games. "People say the acid test was against Tottenham, but United won that by default of Tottenham having an off-game in terms of scoring and De Gea being so fantastic. They didn’t outclass Spurs at all. "It’s easy to default to the Ole bandwagon, but the club need to be careful. I’d like to think that the Glazers and Ed Woodward will be looking at who is the right man for the next few years, rather than the right man right now. If they decide on Ole, then good luck to them."

Arsenal transfer news Unai Emery slammed for Mesut Ozil snub, one player ‘not even close’
Arsenal transfer news Unai Emery slammed for Mesut Ozil snub, one player ‘not even close’

Arsenal transfer news: Unai Emery slammed for Mesut Ozil snub, one player ‘not even close’. That’s the verdict of Steve Nicol on ESPN FC. Ozil is not favoured by Emery due to the physical demands of the Spanish coach’s style of play and has even been left out of the match-day squad altogether for recent matches. The German was nowhere to be seen as the Gunners lost 1-0 to West Ham at the weekend, with Arsenal missing a lack of cutting edge in the final third. But Emery has made it clear he will not pick Ozil for tough away matches despite the fact the World Cup winner is the club’s highest-paid player on £350,000-a-week and enjoyed almost untouchable status under Arsene Wenger. The Arsenal boss has been denied a chance to make any moves in the January transfer window with the north London club short of money, meaning he can only complete loan deals. Emery seemingly wants Ozil out of the club but given his astronomical wages, finding a club to take him off their hands will undoubtedly prove difficult - with any departure likely to need Arsenal to commit to subsidising his hefty salary. Yet Liverpool legend Nicol is dumbfounded that Emery will not change his mind to fit Ozil - who has 30 goals and 51 assists in the Premier League since arriving from Real Madrid in 2013 - into his line-up. And the ex-defender believes Emery’s current set-up means his midfield lacks players capable of delivering the final ball into their forwards - pinpointing Xhaka in particular as one such example. “If at the end of the day Unai Emery wants to sweep the club, the board have to back him. I get all that,” Nicol said. “But are you telling me that you can’t figure a way out to sort your team out when you’ve got a guy with the quality that Ozil’s got?  “You can’t somehow figure out to get him in the team?  “You’ve got a team full of players who work hard and will run for ever, where’s the quality? Where’s all the quality gone?  “You look at the middle of the park, I mean Granit Xhaka, he can’t get around.  “He’s not even close to the qualities of Mesut Ozil.  “So you figure out your team and find a way of building it to get a guy with quality in.” Former Arsenal striker Jeremy Aliadiere also believes the capital club are lacking the ingenuity of Ozil. He told Love Sport Radio: "I think what he [Emery] is trying to do is give everyone their best positions and to try to help everyone. “I know playing three at the back, you give [Hector] Bellerin and [Sead] Kolasinac less defensive worries and more offensive jobs to do. “They obviously enjoy that but at the same time you miss having a No 10 and having Mesut Ozil in the team. It's very difficult. "In my opinion, obviously I would have Mesut Ozil in the team all day long.”

Kevin Durant backed to stay with Golden State Warriors after doing this against Dallas
Kevin Durant backed to stay with Golden State Warriors after doing this against Dallas

Kevin Durant backed to stay with Golden State Warriors after doing this against Dallas. Durant’s future is the most talked-about thing in the NBA right now, as fans wait to see where the superstar will play next season. He is under contract until the summer, but has a player option on a one-year extension. However, many believe Durant will opt out of that extra year in order to gain a move elsewhere. He has been heavily linked with a move to the New York Knicks, as pundits predict that he wants to lead his own franchise. However after Sunday’s win over the Mavericks, in which Durant scored 28 points, it has been suggested that he could be in line to reverse his decision to leave. The San Francisco Chronicle predicts that Durant will stay in Golden State next year. The reason for this prediction is the relationship between the forward and Steph Curry. Curry scored 48 points against the Mavericks, as Durant told head coach Steve Kerr to flip plays in order to give his co-star more shooting opportunities. And Scott Ostler, NBA writer for the publication, believes that this is the biggest hint yet that Durant sees his future in Golden State. “That little display of team spirit and generosity toward Stephen Curry is no guarantee that Durant will re-up with the Warriors, but it’s a super-positive sign,” he wrote. “When it comes to Durant’s future with the Warriors, we’re all just reading tea leaves, and here’s what the tea leaves tell me about that game. “Durant, despite his penchant for going one-on-one, is a team player, and his respect level for this team is very high. Not many superstars would do what Durant did. “Curry was a major reason Durant signed with the Warriors. Durant can shop around, but he knows he won’t find another Steph.” Durant’s future is not likely to be known until the summer, when his contract is either extended or he opts out. If he does choose to opt out, he will be unable to speak to any teams about his future until July 1.
