Lakers news: NBA expert makes Kyle Kuzma trade claim, Anthony Davis to Celtics latest. That’s according to Colin Cowherd, who believes the Lakers are a mediocre team as he ranted about the team’s current situation. Los Angeles followed up a buzzer-beater win over the Boston Celtics by getting blown out by the Philadelphia 76ers in a 23-point loss. Kuzma dropped a game-high 39 points on the Sixers but Cowherd insists the third-year forward was also missing in Philly, despite the second-best point-scoring night of his fledgling NBA career. The Lakers’ playoff hopes are currently in limbo with Luke Walton’s team owning a 28-28 record which sees them sat 10th in the Western Conference. The franchise’s roster has had to deal with mass uncertainty in recent weeks with it well known that the Lakers were willing to trade everyone but LeBron to land Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. And Cowherd thinks the fall-out of such a situation means the Lakers will pay the price for the rest of the season. “They’re one star and 13 possible transactions. Kyle Kuzma is their second-best player and he disappears in games,” Cowherd said on Fox Sports’ The Herd. “He did against the Sixers, he does it all the time and he’s their second-best player. “I know they’re all transactions because I read stories last week where the Lakers were willing to give up every young player. The Lakers put out a list of seven players and five draft picks they were willing to give up and all the players now know they’re pawns. “This is an average team with one great player on the back nine of his career. Though he’s still remarkable he’s not as dominant as he once was, he’s coming off an injury. “Only one other player is a true asset, Kyle Kuzma, and he disappears in games. “I thought the trade and all of the nonsense in the media confused an average locker room. “Magic Johnson flew out to soothe his young players who are freaking out which all young people, middle-aged people or old people would do if they feel they’re completely expendable. They’re not fine. They didn’t look fine. “This is a confused locker room and be very careful about doing business with people who have nothing to lose. “I don’t blame the players, if you can sense your demise or the fact you’re completely expendable, that’s tough for anyone to deal with. “That win against the Celtics meant nothing. This is going to be an incredible choppy second half and Luke Walton will unfortunately take the hit.” The Pelicans held on to Davis to see what offers they can attract in the summer, when the Boston Celtics and even the New York Knicks could make moves to trade for the six-time All-Star. Yet while the Celtics may have the assets and picks to make a deal work, Cowherd insists Davis is not Boston-bound. He added: “Anthony Davis is not - don’t believe anybody - he’s not interested. “I was told that last week by somebody I trust that is close to Anthony Davis. He ain’t going to Boston.”
Anthony Davis to Boston Celtics MAJOR update given - bad news for Lakers fans. According to Tim McMahon of ESPN, Celtics star Jayson Tatum is keen on making a move to the New Orleans Pelicans in order to lead a franchise. The Pelicans refused a series of trade offers from the Lakers in January and February for the superstar, as they looked to wait until the summer before giving up their leading star. The Celtics are unable to make a trade offer until the summer, but reportedly had communication with New Orleans recently about what players could be included in the trade. Tatum is believed to be the key factor in where Davis goes, as the Pelicans value him as the best young talent they can get in the summer. It was widely expected that the Celtics would not be willing to let him leave. At just 20 years old he is seen as a potential future face of the franchise. But according to McMahon, the youngster is open to a move, because he fears he will never get out of Kyrie Irving’s shadow in Boston. “I was talking to a scout the other day about the Celtics and they said the worst thing that could have happened to the Celtics was their success last season,” he explained. “Now you’ve got Tatum, [Jaylen] Brown, [Terry] Rozier, they’re thinking dude, we went to game seven of the Eastern Finals against LeBron without you, Kyrie, without you, [Gordon] Hayward. “We’re this level of player, and now they’re being asked to take smaller roles. “There’s all sorts of chemistry problems. “As much as Magic is saying yeah these guys are professionals with the Lakers, well okay but these guys know they’re being shopped, they know the Celtics can’t do anything until the summer because of Kyrie’s contract situation, but they know this summer they could be gone. “It’s gossip, but the gossip is that Jayson Tatum wouldn’t mind. He wouldn’t mind being shipped to New Orleans and being the face of the franchise somewhere. “He’s not going to get that opportunity in Boston, and not in the near future.” Tatum’s feelings could well change, however, depending on what Irving does this summer with his free agency decision. Irving has the chance to become a free agent in the summer if he opts out of the final year of his contract in Boston. And speculation has been rife suggesting that he could either head to the Los Angeles Lakers or the New York Knicks. If he does depart, then the Celtics would be more inclined to make a move for Davis to replace him, but it would be more difficult to convince the Pelicans star to sign long term.
Man Utd, Arsenal and Man City have transfer problem - it's down to Mino Raiola. The three Premier League giants have all watched Dutch defender Matthijs De Ligt, who has been hailed as the next Virgil van Dijk. De Ligt is already captain of Ajax, who face Real Madrid in the Champions League this week, and he partners Van Dijk while playing for Holland. However, he has decided to link up with super-agent Mino Raiola and the Mirror report that's proving a problem for Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City. The belief in Holland is that English clubs are just too reluctant to do business with Raiola given their previous bad experiences. In 2011, Pep Guardiola fell out with Raiola when Zlatan Ibrahimovic - who was one of the super agent's players - quit Barcelona. Their relationship sunk to new lows last year when Raiola branded the City boss "a coward and a dog". The Spaniard then mocked the agent for publicly revealing he had asked if City were interested in signing Paul Pogba from rivals United. As for the other side of Manchester, Old Trafford bosses are said to be wary of dealing with Raiola for similar reasons. Ed Woodward and Raiola had enjoyed a close relationship until they discovered he had been touting Pogba to Europe's top clubs after falling out with Jose Mourinho. While Arsenal found Raiola hard to work with when Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved to the Emirates as a makeweight in the deal that took Alexis Sanchez to United. De Ligt, 19, is valued at around £50million and hewill be allowed to follow his pal Frenkie De Jong out of the Amsterdam Arena in the summer. But the Mirror are reporting only two clubs have contacted Ajax to make their interest official - Juventus and PSG. De Ligt will bank a mega pay-rise for whoever he signs for this summer. The Dutchman is currently on a £30,000 a week deal which will go through the roof when he leaves the Eredivise.
Man Utd news: Why Solskjaer and Phelan had intense chat after Martial goal vs Fulham. Manchester United boss Solskjaer was seen deep in discussion with Phelan after Martial put them 2-0 up against Fulham on Saturday. The Red Devils cruised to victory at Craven Cottage with Martial’s brilliant solo goal coming in between a Paul Pogba double. Manchester United fans spotted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Phelan chatting intensely on the touchline in the immediate aftermath, with some pondering as to what was the matter. And Solskjaer has now revealed the duo were merely discussing United’s strategy for the rest of their Premier League showdown. "When you're 2-0 up you can control a game differently," Solskjaer said. "You should just settle it down and then it's time to suck them in and play and keep possession for the rest of the game. “Because you don't need to chase a goal. "And it was a point of getting them to come toward us and then get the third." Solskjaer has a good relationship with his United coaching team. As well as Phelan, the 45-year-old has Michael Carrick and fitness coach Kieran McKenna beside him. And, speaking before United’s comfortable win over Fulham, Solskjaer hailed the impact of those in his inner circle. The interim manager said: "We are different ages. "We are different in what we're good at, we complement each other really well, Kieran and Michael, with their energy and hours they spend planning the sessions, doing the sessions, working with individuals, fantastic. “[Mark Dempsey] Demps has come in later on but he's fitting into this team, Emilio [Alvarez] has worked with David for so many years. "We're a good group, we bounce off each other and opinions are being thrown about in that office and in the end I'm the lucky one on who to leave out or who to play. “I always look at it as these are the XI I can choose to give them chances, because leaving players out is hard. "But we complement each other well, Kieran and Michael remind me of me when I was younger, the hours they spend is fantastic and the new ideas. “And listening to Mike and Demps for their views because they've got a bit more experience."
Tom Curry: England star covered in BLOOD after horror Six Nations clash vs France. Curry, in just his sixth Test for England, had helped the hosts dominate the first half at Twickenham. Eddie Jones’s side were looking to climb back to the top of the Six Nations table after beating Ireland last week. And Curry was putting himself everywhere. But it came at a cost with the England flanker splitting his forehead open in an accidental clash with Damian Penaud. It left the 20-year-old covered in blood, and he was taken off as a blood substitute. And rugby fans quickly reacted to the amount of blood spilling from Curry. One wrote on social media: “#TomCurry will boast of a spectacular scar.” Another added: “Note for all footballers rolling around the floor. #TomCurry will pop off have his stitches in and be back on #justsaying” While a third commented: “Tom Curry is now officially wearing a Wales jersey.” And one other tweeted: “I think Tom Curry has just given us one of the iconic images of rugby.” Just five minutes after being taken off as a blood substitute, Curry had been patched up and returned to the field. Former England star Lewis Moody praised Curry prior to the France game. “I watched Tom Curry for the first time in the summer of 2017, when he was 18 and playing against Argentina on his debut,” Moody said. “When I see a new player, I ask myself what makes them unique and for Tom, it is his work rate — his greatest asset is that he will constantly be getting back to his feet, back into the game and attacking it. “As a No 6 or No 7, that is the most valuable thing you can have, and against Ireland last weekend that was more visible than it had been in his previous five England Tests.”
Rangers ROW: Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes CONFRONTED opponents after fiery encounter. Steven Gerrard’s side recorded a 4-1 win in a fiery encounter to keep the pressure on Celtic. McInnes reportedly told Rangers to keep the noise down after they celebrated the victory at Pittodrie. The Daily Record claim the Aberdeen manager confronted member of the Ibrox team’s staff. The match was end-to-end with six goals and two red cards. Alfredo Morelos opened the scoring for Rangers before Sam Cosgrove equalised. A penalty put the Gers back in front before Morelos netted again but was then sent off along with Scott McKenna after being involved in an incident which saw boots and studs flying. Cosgrove netted again for Aberdeen from the penalty spot to make it 3-2 but Jermain Defoe sealed all three points for Rangers deep in injury time. After the match Gerrard admitted Morelos needs to keep his temper in check. He said: “For Alfredo to go to the next level or to improve he will have to channel his aggression. “I haven’t had the chance to analyse the incident back so I can’t tell you if Scott deserved a red or whether Alfredo did. “But they’ve had a fantastic battle up until that point. “Scott was physical with Alfredo. Alfredo was physical with him. “Two top players but unfortunately they have both ended up with red cards. “Whether they deserved it I’ll have to analyse it. If Alfredo is in the wrong then he’ll deserve the red card. “He’ll then be missing for two games and that’s how he’ll get punished because he hates missing games. “But I’m doing everything in my power to help the kid grow as a footballer and as a person. “I am not going to take the physical side away from him because he’ll get bullied out there. He’ll get bullied every game because he’s up against some strong physical players. “But for Alfredo to get to the next level and move in his career – and for people to trust him – he does have to channel it in the right way.”
Gary Neville reveals real reason Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd were quiet in January window. For the first time since 2012, spending by clubs in the January transfer fell to just £180million. In January 2018, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City spent heavily to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Virgil van Dijk and Aymeric Laporte respectively. The biggest deal this year saw Chelsea strike a deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign Christian Pulisic for £55m but he was loaned back to the Bundesliga side. The next most expensive transfer was Newcastle’s £21million deal for Miguel Almiron. Arsenal boss Unai Emery said he had no money for permanent deals and only ended up with Denis Suarez on loan from Barcelona. Spurs signed no-one for the second consecutive window. While Manchester United also opted not to make any signings. Manchester City have been the biggest spenders in recent years but they were noticeably quiet in the window. And Neville feels Premier League clubs aren’t seeing value for money in the winter window. Neville said: "We asked this week: Are we surprised that Arsenal didn't bring in a defender? Are we surprised Tottenham didn't bring in a replacement for Kane, or anybody? "But the problem is, they can't get the players available. They cannot get them. Honestly, it's a real issue. "Clubs are not letting go for normal prices, and clubs are now thinking: Do I go and pay over the odds in January? Am I going to get the player I want? "I genuinely believed Arsenal would have strengthened more than they have done if they believed something was available. "Would Manchester United have brought in Raphael Varane, or Harry Maguire for example, if they believed they were available for decent prices in this transfer window? “One hundred per cent they would. Would Manchester City have brought in a left-back, the one they wanted? Of course they would. "But they're not there, they can't get them! They would have tried, asked the question, made the noises underneath with the agents and the scouting departments, but they're just not there. "It's a real problem, the market is stuck in someways."
Golden State Warriors: Klay Thompson makes huge demand amid Kevin Durant rumours. Thompson is one of a number of Warriors who will become free agents at the end of the season as the six-time NBA champions are set for a period of rebuilding. Kevin Durant is the most high-profile player eyeing an exit from the franchise but Mercury News journalist Mark Medina claims Thompson wants to re-sign even if other stars leave. Although, he will be asking for a huge pay-rise if he does decide to stay. Medina said on Twitter: “Klay wants to return to Warriors regardless of whether KD stays or leaves. “Klay looking for max for simple reasons. 1. His obvious resume. 2. any money Warriors save would just reduce luxury taxes, not help them sign another player.” Thompson has previously been linked with a move to the Los Angeles Clippers. However, the 28-year-old insists he is not distracted by rumours and says he is just concentrating on seeing out the current season in style. “It’s a part of our business,” he said about free agency and trade rumours. “People love when free agency season comes around, speculating who’s going to go where, how people can shift the dynamics of the NBA. “It’s good for our sport, it draws in interest.” On whether it has been a distraction for him, Thompson added: “I don’t think so. “Not very many teams believe they have a chance at a title, but we’re one of them. I think that’s the only thing on our minds. “We’re all grown men. At the end of the day, whatever we decide to do, we’re all brothers and we’re not going to hold grudges, because it’s a business.” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said other teams may be looking to sign a player of Thompson's quality when quizzed on his future. “They should want Klay,” he said after their recent victory over Los Angeles Lakers.
