England flanker Tom Curry alleged to referee Ben O’Keeffe that South Africa hooker Bongi Mbonambi called him a “white c---” during the Springboks’ World Cup semi-final victory. The incident occurred just before the half-hour mark with England leading 9-3 as Curry approached O’Keeffe, the New Zealand official. On the referee’s microphone, Curry can be clearly heard asking, “Sir, Sir, if their hooker calls me a white c--- what do I do?” O’Keeffe replies: “Nothing please.” He then adds “I will be on it” although it is not clear if this in reference to Curry’s complaint, but he takes no action against Mbonambi. There is no audible evidence of Mbonambi’s alleged abuse. After the final whistle, Mbonambi refused to shake Curry’s hand. Tom Curry: England star covered in BLOOD after horror Six Nations clash vs France. Curry, in just his sixth Test for England, had helped the hosts dominate the first half at Twickenham. Eddie Jones’s side were looking to climb back to the top of the Six Nations table after beating Ireland last week. And Curry was putting himself everywhere. But it came at a cost with the England flanker splitting his forehead open in an accidental clash with Damian Penaud. It left the 20-year-old covered in blood, and he was taken off as a blood substitute. And rugby fans quickly reacted to the amount of blood spilling from Curry. One wrote on social media: “#TomCurry will boast of a spectacular scar.” Another added: “Note for all footballers rolling around the floor. #TomCurry will pop off have his stitches in and be back on #justsaying” While a third commented: “Tom Curry is now officially wearing a Wales jersey.” And one other tweeted: “I think Tom Curry has just given us one of the iconic images of rugby.” Just five minutes after being taken off as a blood substitute, Curry had been patched up and returned to the field. Former England star Lewis Moody praised Curry prior to the France game. “I watched Tom Curry for the first time in the summer of 2017, when he was 18 and playing against Argentina on his debut,” Moody said. “When I see a new player, I ask myself what makes them unique and for Tom, it is his work rate — his greatest asset is that he will constantly be getting back to his feet, back into the game and attacking it. “As a No 6 or No 7, that is the most valuable thing you can have, and against Ireland last weekend that was more visible than it had been in his previous five England Tests.”
