Coach Silas postgame: "We're both kinda just like 'Wow this is great to be in this position'"

Coach Stephen Silas speaks with the media after the Rockets' 115-103 road win over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Rockets finish the 4-game road trip 3-1. John Wall led the Rockets w/ 22 points and 8 assists. Eric Gordon scored 19. Rookie Jae'Sean Tate scored a career-high 19 points and added 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. Christian Wood had 17 points and 7 rebounds before he rolled his right ankle in the third quarter and left the game. Coach Silas speaks with the media about Jae'Sean Tate's value to the team. Coach doesn't yet have an update on the severity of Christian Wood's ankle injury. Coach Silas discusses John Wall's importance to the club; John makes everybody's job easier -- including Coach Silas. Coach Silas gives his players credit for be a smart team who learns things quickly and corrects mistakes quickly.

Coach Stephen Silas gives his thoughts on John Wall's leadership, impact on the Rockets, overcoming his injuries the past 2 seasons to return to his pre-injury level of play. Asst. coach DeSagana Dion was responsible for the Scouting Report for the Memphis Grizzlies. Coach Silas mentions back-to-back game days are different this season because of the COVID-19 testing involved. Coach Silas touches on how the Rockets will defend Ja Morant in tonight's game. David Nwaba will not play tonight. Coach Silas says the Rockets need to limit turnovers tonight because the Grizzlies will turn the turnovers into layups. Ball security is key tonight for the Rockets.

Coach Sampson says he didn't do a good enough getting his team ready to play. DeJon Jarreau scored 25 for Houston. Jayden Gardner led five Pirates in double-digit scoring with 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Kelvin Sampson speaks with the media after the Houston Cougars defeated the Temple Owls 68-51 in Philly Saturday afternoon. With the win, the 8th-ranked Coogs (4th in the NCAA NET rankings) improve to 13-1 this season and 8-1 in the American Athletic Conference. Coach Sampson discusses the win over Temple; Houston's winning the battle for loose balls and crashing the boards; focusing on getting better; whether or not he has thought about possibly earning a number 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Coach Sampson also reflects on the upcoming 1 year mark of Kobe Bryant's death as well as the death of other sports heroes. Coach Sampson mentions he believes there's a chance not all 20 conference games will be played this season.

Eric Gordon scored a team-high 20 points in the Rockets' 103-102 road win over the Detroit Pistons. Houston snapped a 3-game losing streak. After the game, Eric spoke with the media about the win; running the offense as primary ball handler; the Rockets' need to improve in numerous areas; etc. EG also reflects on the approaching 1-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant's death in the helicopter crash.

Coach Silas discusses what Kevin Porter Jr could potentially bring to the Rockets -- once Porter Jr gets his personal issues resolved and gets in NBA shape. Coach Silas also discusses the number of minutes he would like Victor Oladipo to play each game. Coach says Vic will most likely not play both games of back-to-back situation; however, he didn't rule out Vic for Saturday's game against the Mavs. The Rockets don't expect Porter Jr to play in an NBA game anytime soon. Circumstances have changed the plans Coach Silas had for the team before the season started. Coach Silas says his focus is on tonight's game against the Pistons. Coach Silas discusses Christian Wood's rolling his right ankle in the first half but returning to the game to start the 2nd half. C-Wood scored 10 pts in the third and finished the game with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Coach Silas mentions P.J. Tucker suffered an abdominal injury in the second half which is why he didn't play much in the half. Coach also discusses the difficulties in getting points when Wood, Oladipo, and Eric Gordon rest on the bench. Also, Coach Silas discusses the differences in the Rockets' performances in the 1st half compared to the 2nd half.
