The Houston Rockets lost 125-120 to the Chicago Bulls Monday night; however, Victor Oladipo scored 32 points in his Houston Rockets' debut. Vic added 9 assists and 5 rebounds. He also had 7 of the team's 17 turnovers. During his postgame media session, Vic says he's happy and believes better days are ahead for the Rockets. The team needs to buy in; play together; and get better on defense. Vic says he has a brick not a chip on his shoulder to prove everything to everyone. Vic mentions he and Christian Wood started developing chemistry as the game progressed. Vic likes Coach Silas and the offense. Vic believes the sky's the limit for the Rockets.
Kelvin Sampson speaks with the media after the Houston Cougars defeated the UCF Knights 75-58 Sunday afternoon. Quentin Grimes scored a game-high 18 points to lead Houston. Justin Gorham had 15 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season. Houston led by as much as 29 points (38-9) in the first half and led 45-19 at halftime. Houston improves to 11-1 overall and 6-1 in the American Athletic Conference.
James Harden scored 20 points (7/14 fgs, 2/8 threes) and added 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 blocked shots, and 7 of the Rockets' 21 turnovers in the Rockets' 120-102 loss to the Lakers. After the game, Harden talks with the media and says the Rockets got good looks but missed. The Lakers scored in transition a lot because LA leaked out a lot after the Rockets shot the ball. Too many of the Rockets' 21 turnovers were due to poor spacing on offense. Harden says they'll study the film and get ready for the January 12th game against the Lakers.

Brison discusses what Coach Kelvin Sampson said to him and showed him before the game about his offensive rebounding numbers this season compared to last season. Energy and effort. Brison mentions Marcus Sassser's shooting show versus Tulane (8 made threes). He also discusses how much teammate DeJon Jarreau has matured and has become the team's bus driver by making everyone on the team better. Brison mentions he and DeJon were recruited by Tulane when the two of them were in high school. He said they did consider attending Tulane; but, they decided they wanted to get out of New Orleans.

Sasser scored a career-high 28 points and made 8 three-point shots in the game. Coach Sampson says his team took advantage of Tulane's match-up zone defense and attacked the zone with good ball movement and finding the open man. Coach Sampson also mentions he challenged senior Brison Gresham to rebound like he's capable. Energy and effort. He also mentions the roles of the guards did not change -- despite Caleb Mills' entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. Coach also discusses what guard Cam Tyson has gone through this offseason and up season to now; the benefits of Cam against a zone defense; and getting Cam minutes in previous games but his defense isn't as good as some of his teammates. Finally, he discusses Tramon Mark's performance versus Tulane and letting Tramon play through his mistakes because he can use the minutes to get better. After the Rockets blasted the short-handed Orlando Magic 132-90, Head Coach Stephen Silas speaks with the media about the effective communication on defense being one of the keys to the win. Coach Silas also describes Ben McLemore as a stone cold shooter on the perimeter. Coach gives his thoughts on the blowout win; finding a balance between good ball movement and isolation offense; the Rockets' base defense was good throughout the game as opposed to having to utilizing the switching defenses; James Harden's effort being good. Coach Silas continues to let his players know the offense is designed to help them maximize their strengths; and, the depth of this team plays to the strengths of the team.

He said he was more assertive in the second half tonight and also Sunday against SMU. Quentin says the confidence the coaching staff has in the players inspires the players Quentin says he and the team was surprised by Caleb Mills' decision to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
