The Texans lost their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Carolina Panthers 24-9. Houston was starting their 3-rd round rookie quarterback Davis Mills after the starter, Tyrod Taylor, suffered an injury vs. the Browns last week. Mills didn’t receive much help from the Texans rushing attack as they ended the game with a measly 42 rushing yards. The defense had holes allowing Sam Darnold and D.J. Moore to connect 8 times for 126 yards. Houston’s defense did force 2 fumbles in the game but both were recovered by the Panthers. Mills showed ability to lead an offense, highlighted by his 64-yard touchdown drive just before the end of the half. But the Texans’ limited Mills on offense, trying to run the ball and failing. That led to long 3rd down chances, which Mills could not convert.
