Portsmouth 0-2 Sunderland - SETS US UP NICELY FOR WEMBLEY
Lee Johnson’s Sunderland earned a what was ultimately a comfortable win away at Portsmouth to close the gap to the top two in League One. Goals from Charlie Wyke & Jordan Jones earned the three points for the Black Cats who now focus on a trip to the capital in the EFL Trophy final against Tranmere Rovers!
Sunderland 2-0 Rochdale - JUST KEEP ON GOING
Sunderland got what was ultimately a routine win over Rochdale at the Stadium of Light thanks to goals from Dion Sanderson and Charlie Wyke. The game was done after the first 35 minutes for Lee Johnson’s Black Cats who now face a trip to Portsmouth on Sky before the Papa Johns Trophy final at Wembley next weekend!
Sunderland 1-0 Swindon - THANK GOD FOR THAT
Sunderland managed to bounce back from the weekend game at Crewe with a tight victory over Swindon Town at the Stadium of Light thanks to Charlie Wyke’s 19th league goal of the season. The result lifts Lee Johnson’s side into fourth in the table with the automatic promotion places in sight. Can they do it? Hopefully yes.
Crewe 2-2 Sunderland - STUNNED
After that performance for most of the game, Sunderland somehow managed to rescue a draw at Crewe Alexandra thanks to late stunning strikes from substitutes Jordan Jones and Chris Maguire. Lee Johnson’s Black Cats were seriously let off the hook and must win upcoming games but also could’ve been a lot worse.
Sunderland 2-0 Fleetwood - WE BEAT TWO BOGEY TEAMS IN A ROW 😱
Sunderland, finally, were able to beat Fleetwood Town since dropping into League One with a fully deserved win against former manager Simon Grayson at the Stadium of Light! Three league wins in a row, as well as the takeover coming into effect, has helped massively improve morale on Wearside but still a long way to go yet!
Sunderland 4-1 Doncaster - WYKE FOUR YOUR THOUGHTS
Lee Johnson’s Sunderland produced arguable their best Home performance of the season as they dispatched Darren Moore’s Doncaster Rovers at the Stadium of Light thanks to four goals from Charlie Wyke & for assists from Aiden McGeady. Meanwhile Lee Burge saved two penalties in what was an eventful second-half. Big result but let’s hopefully build on it!
MK Dons 2-2 Sunderland - CHUCKED AWAY THE LEAD AGAIN
Sunderland yet again dropped points from a winning position as they were frustrated in a 2-2 draw at MK Dons. Yet another missed opportunity for Lee Johnson’s side which makes Tuesday’s game away to Shrewsbury even more significant.
