Sunderland managed to bounce back from the weekend game at Crewe with a tight victory over Swindon Town at the Stadium of Light thanks to Charlie Wyke’s 19th league goal of the season. The result lifts Lee Johnson’s side into fourth in the table with the automatic promotion places in sight. Can they do it? Hopefully yes.
Lee Johnson’s Sunderland produced arguable their best Home performance of the season as they dispatched Darren Moore’s Doncaster Rovers at the Stadium of Light thanks to four goals from Charlie Wyke & for assists from Aiden McGeady. Meanwhile Lee Burge saved two penalties in what was an eventful second-half. Big result but let’s hopefully build on it!
Lee Johnson’s Sunderland, thankfully, got back to winning ways against Shrewsbury at the Stadium of Light thanks to Charlie Wyke’s 11th league goal of the season in the first-half. First period was very good but the second not so much. However a win is a win ahead of a huge game at Ipswich on Tuesday!
Sunderland drew for the third League One game in a row, this time 1-1 against second-placed Hull City. Aiden McGeady’s first half equaliser earned a point for Lee Johnson’s Black Cats at the Stadium of Light. The result puts massive pressure on upcoming games but we go again - hopefully!
An arguably patched together Sunderland side came from behind from pick a home draw against AFC Wimbledon in game where the main talking point was the factors going into it. Is it a good result in your opinion, considering the external factors? We shall see what happens with upcoming games.
Once again, Sunderland didn’t bother to take the opportunity to climb up the table as bottom side Wigan took three points from the Stadium of Light, which leaves newly-appointed Black Cats boss Lee Johnson with plenty to do on Wearside.
The post-Phil Parkinson era at Sunderland began with a come from behind draw against Burton Albion at the Stadium of Light, with Max Power’s late header earning a share of the spoils for the Black Cats. Things simply must significantly improve going forward.
Sunderland for the second league game in a row chucked points away from a winning position as a stoppage time equaliser earned Doncaster Rovers a point at the Keepmoat Stadium. Phil Parkinson’s unwillingness to be proactive contributed to those two dropped points in my opinion. Still, onto the next one I suppose!
Defensive standards have to improve. Simple as that. Yes we need to score chances but we cannot keep shipping goals away.
First time trying this for a game. But let's see how much this will work! Come while we have a watch-along!
