ATLANTA, GEORGIA—Atlanta United newly acquired Mexican forward Ronaldo Cisneros scored his first Major League Soccer goal in his team's 2-1 defeat on the road against the home team Inter Miami CF on Sunday. Cisneros scored the goal in the 13th minute on a corner kick by defender Brooks Lennon as he toed in the rebound to put Atlanta ahead 1-0. The Mexican football star has mixed feelings about his first MLS goal since the team loses another game on the road. "Maybe the first half was a bit more even with both teams having some opportunities to score, but in the second half, I think we had the better of the chances," Cisneros said. "But they were able to score on two plays," Cisneros added. Overall, United played well despite their loss since they had many chances to score, but they failed to capitalize on it. "There were moments in the game where I felt that we had the more dominant side," head coach Gonzalo Pineda said. "We created enough chances, in my opinion. Caleb Wiley scores a goal in Atlanta United FC's 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City
ATLANTA, GEORGIA---The first game of Atlanta United FC in the 2022 Major League Soccer season in front of its fans at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one for the ages on February 27. Playing in front of its fans, United FC beat the visiting Sporting Kansas City 3-1. The three goals were provided by Luiz Araújo, Dom Dwyer, and Caleb Wiley. Among the three goals, the most special one was provided by Wiley, a 17-year-old Homegrown player of United FC. Wiley scored the toe-touch goal in the 88th minute. Wiley is very happy with his goal. “It’s definitely a dream come true,” Wiley said. “I don’t score that many goals that often, so when I do I’m so speechless,” Wiley added. Earlier, Wiley was invited to the United States Under-20 Men’s Youth National Team for a training camp at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida last Jan. 24-Feb. 2.
