Montana closed October with a 20-19 win over one-win Southern Utah, moving to 3-2 in Big Sky Conference play and 6-2 overall. Southern Utah falls to 0-6 in league play, 1-8 overall. Following the game, Montana head coach Bobby Hauck, junior linebacker Marcus Welnel, senior kicker Kevin Macias and junior cornerback Justin Ford addressed the media. Southern Utah head coach Demario Warren also gave his last statements with SUU as a Big Sky member in Missoula. The Thunderbirds are moving to the WAC next season.

On October 23, 2021 in Moscow, Idaho, Montana rolled to a 34-14 win over Idaho. The win moves the Grizzlies to 2-2 in Big Sky Conference play, 5-2 overall while dropping the Vandals to 1-3 in league, 2-5 overall. Following Montana's seventh straight rivalry victory dating back to 2000 including its third straight over the Vandals since UI rejoined the Big Sky in 2018, Montana head coach Bobby Hauck, Griz linebacker Patrick O'Connell and Mitch Roberts along with Idaho linebacker Tre Walker, quarterback Gevani McCoy and head coach Paul Petrino spoke to the media.

Montana Griz press conference - Sac State wins for first time every in Missoula
On Saturday, Sacramento State came into Washington-Grizzly Stadium and posted their first win in program history, 28-21 against a Montana team that has now lost two straight Big Sky Conference games. The Hornets' dual-quarterback system crossed up Montana, gaining more than 460 yards and scoring 28 points against a defense that allowed seven points per game in its first three outings combined this year. Sac State is now 3-0 in Big Sk play, 4-2 overall. Following the win, Sac State head coach Troy Taylor (center), quarterback Jake Dunniway (center) and linebacker Marcus Hawkins addressed the media. Montana head coach Bobby Hauck and senior linebacker Jace Lewis also recapped the game.
