The Orlando Magic Tragedy Actually Began in 2012
It's the NBA trade deadline and there have been a bunch of trades. But, the team that has made the most disappointing moves in my opinion are the Orlando Magic. They have traded the likes of Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon in the span of like two hours. And what do they get back in return? Not much from the Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics. Wendell Carter Jr., Gary Harris and some draft picks. Thanks, Woj for the Woj bomb. This has been the history of the Orlando Magic: an extremely poorly run franchise. This is nothing new. In fact, this all started nine years ago in 2012 with a guy known by the name Dwight Howard and his coach Stan Van Gundy. This is that story. A story of mediocrity. The Only Way the Padres Can Upset the Dodgers in the NLDS
OK, LET'S CELEBRATE! Ok, so the San Diego Padres made the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. Ok, so the San Diego Padres won their first playoff series in 22 years. Ok, so the San Diego Padres will beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS. Ok, that last one is a wish not a certainty. This is a hard matchup. Yes, we beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card Series. But the Dodgers are a different breed (a breed that particularly likes to hit home runs). So how will the Padres be able to beat the Dodgers? Will Chris Paddack have to throw a no-hitter? Will Fernando Tatis Jr. have to swing with the count at 3-0 every single time? Will Craig Stammen have to actually become a fan favorite? No. None of these are the answer. The answer's in Mike Clevinger and Dinelson Lamet. Watch the rest of this video to find out why. San Diego Padres vs. St. Louis Cardinals Playoff Preview
Y'all have been asking who I believe will win the World Series. Well, I'm not going to give you the answer to that question yet. But, I do think the San Diego Padres are in trouble. Do I believe they will beat the St. Louis Cardinals? Yes. Am I confident? Nope. Sure, Fernando Tatis Jr. is slumping. Even Manny Machado has been struggling a little as of late. But that's not the reason why I'm starting to doubt. With injuries to pitchers Dinelson Lamet and Mike Clevinger, the Padres don't seem to have the rotation to win a short three-game series against the Cardinals. If one of them can't pitch, that likely means that Chris Paddack will have to start a game. That's not good news. Anyways, I'm already spoiling too much. Just watch the video and pray that the Padres are not cursed. The last time San Diego made the playoffs was in 2006. 14 years ago. They had home-field advantage. They had a great team. And they lost. San Diego Padres / Seattle Mariners Trade Statistical Breakdown
The Seattle Mariners traded C Austin Nola, RP Austin Adams and RP Dan Altavilla for the San Diego Padres' OF Taylor Trammell, IF Ty France and RP Andres Muñoz in a seven player deal that shook up the MLB trade deadline. Garbage trade. Now, before you even bring up the fact that A.J. Preller was the GM that traded James Shields for Fernando Tatis Jr., do I need to remind you he was the one that signed Shields in the first place, setting us back five years? We should've never been in that situation in the first place. This trade was arguably the worst trade in Padres history, but it's probably not for the reasons you think. Watch the video for my take.
