WHY the Miami Heat are THE 2022 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP FAVORITES
Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr So as a Nets fan as I was watching the free agency moves that were made this past summer, the Heat’s moves scared me as seeing them acquiring Kyle Lowry, PJ Tucker and also pick up Victor Oladipo at the deadline last year were all extremely good moves for a team that previously made the 2020 NBA Finals. Well it seems like those moves are working out as the Heat look dominant and today I wanna break down some stats that truly prove they’ll be a 2022 Title contender if they stay healthy. So anyway guys last night was yet another great performance by this year’s Miami Heat team as they got a big 15 point win over the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 125-110. The Heat found themselves down 6 after the first 12 minutes of play but they quickly caused that deficit to disappear as they scored nearly 50 points in the second quarter alone and outscored the Mavericks 46-32 in the quarter and went into the halftime break with a 70-62 lead. The Heat got big performances from their entire roster as they had 4 players drop 22 or more points last night. Both Lowry and Adebayo had 22 points, Jimmy Butler had 23 points and Tyler Herro lead the Heat with his big 25 point night off the bench. Beyond just last night tho, Tyler Herro has 157 points off the bench this season which is the most by any bench player since the 1989-90 NBA Season. Another way to show Herro’s dominance scoring this season is the gap between him and the bench player in second place for most points scored is a 40 point differential, which is a larger gap than the space between the 2nd and 10th player in that category which is extremely impressive. Beyond Herro tho, the team’s also gotten great play from their leader Jimmy Butler as he’s averaged 25 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.9 steals per game along with 51.3 percent from the field and a true shooting percentage of 62.2 percent which is great and really makes him look like a legit MVP candidate in the early portion of this season.Enough about the Heat’s individual players tho because their cohesiveness as a unit is something that really needs to be highlighted. Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr So in the last video that I uploaded I talked about Eric Bledsoe getting traded from the New Orleans Pelicans along with center Steven Adams for Jonas Valanciunas and now all of a sudden Bledsoe has once again been traded as he’s heading from Memphis back to the team he started his career with, the LA Clippers. Today though I wanna talk about why this trade will actually have a bigger effect on both teams than you may think as the Grizzlies got two key veterans for their young core and while the Clippers new starting Point Guard averaged more points than their previous one, they also lost a key production and leadership off their bench. So last night the Memphis Grizzlies made yet another trade this off-season, this time with the LA Clippers as they traded away the newly acquired Eric Bledsoe for Rajon Rondo, Patrick Beverly and 2020 draft pick Daniel Oturu. This was a trade that confused me when I first got the notification from Woj into my phone but then once I saw this tweet from ESPN Front Office Insider and former Nets assistant GM Bobby Marks, the reason for this trade became obvious. You can see the Clippers made this move with the sole purpose of clearing up cap space. The Clippers or really I should say their owner Steve Ballmer is gonna save a huge 30 Million on his luxury tax bill but my biggest question is why does the team care about the tax bill when owner Steve Ballmer has a net worth of over 85 billion dollars and the team made it to the Western Conference Finals this past season even without their best player. Maybe they felt Bledsoe would be a better on the roster as another offensive option but Bledsoe’s Player Efficiency rating last year wasn’t that good and while he did average more points than both Patrick Beverly and Rajon Rondo did individually, I feel like both Beverly and Rondo were huge and important pieces that came up big for the clippers last season. So anyway like we’ve seen from a lot of the numbers i’ve brought up in this video, the winner of this trade looks clear as of right now if the Clippers don’t end up adding a key third option to their rotation. The Clippers were the 2nd best team last season in terms of efficiency on the defensive side of things, yet they traded away the two men who were the most responsible for their great defensive statistics. WHY the Denver Nuggets are STILL A CONTENDER without Jamal Murray! Michael Porter Jr is a Star!
Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr Last month when Jamal Murray got injured I really thought this Nuggets team probably was gonna take a big step back due to just how well Murray’s been playing ever since the NBA Bubble last season, but surprisingly enough this Nuggets team has managed to stay afloat and today we’re gonna take a look at this Nuggets team and talk about exactly why that’s been the case. I don’t really like to talk about the same teams over and over because with my breakdown style videos I do it’ll mostly feel like I’m just regurgitating the same stats and talking points but with the Nuggets this is a bit of a different situation now compared to my last Nuggets video due to the fact they’ve had to deal with the loss of their 2nd best player ever since then. Back on April 12th, the Denver Nuggets starting guard Jamal Murray suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and he would get surgery on April 21st that meant he would be out for the remainder of this season. Despite the fact that this was a major injury for this team and it was big news just in terms of the entire NBA, the Nuggets haven’t seemed effected by Murray’s injury whatsoever as they have continued rolling along and have won 9 of their last 10 games ever since Murray suffered the injury to his left ACL. Over these last 10 games also, this team has really dominated the NBA, at least statistically. The Nuggets have averaged the fourth most points per game on the fourth best field goal percentage in the team’s ten games ever since Jamal Murray went down with a torn left ACL. The team has also shot free throws well despite their poor shooting from beyond the arc which should’ve been expected with how well Murray was shooting from beyond the arc ever since the NBA Bubble last season. The Nuggets have also been a top 10 team in many of the other traditional stat categories since Murray’s injury. Despite the team also have the 9th best defensive rating over their last 10 games, they have had some decent struggles on defense lately despite not playing too great of competition as of late. So this team definitely does have their own flaws, which of course with Jamal Murray now out for the rest of this season and possibly all of next season, should’ve been expected, but this team is still 9-1 ever since Murray suffered his injury and they are a team that really seems to know how to handle their business and get up to play whoever they have to face. Today i’m gonna breakdown and talk to you guys about why this Denver Nuggets team still is still a team that Western Conference Playoff teams will need to watch out for and exactly why this team is such a dangerous 2021 Playoff team, even without the presence of Jamal Murray. Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr So last night one great game I got the chance to watch on NBA League Pass was the San Antonio Spurs playing the Celtics in Boston and Jayson Tatum put up an insane performance for Boston as he dropped 60 points and helped them grab the 143-140 victory in their home arena. However, even despite the Spurs now having lost 2 games in a row following last night’s game I think this team has actually played very well lately I’m not sure how well this video will do in terms of views and such or if anyone cares too much about the Spurs but I think it’s time to talk about why this Spurs team can actually cause some trouble in the 2021 Playoffs and why they’re such a dangerous matchup for whoever they face in the 2021 Play-In Tournament. the Spurs have now lost two straight games as they lost that extremely tight overtime game against the Celtics last night and two nights earlier on Wednesday they lost a another tough game against the Miami Heat as they lost by a score of 116-111. Even despite losing two straight tho the Spurs have now won 5 of their last 8 games and they played very well over this recent stretch as they beat the team that now holds the NBA’s best record, the Phoenix Suns and they also beat the extremely hot Washington Wizards as well over this recent stretch. This Spurs team was already a very solid defensive team for the 2020-21 Season, but now they’ve taken their game to another level and stepped things up as they are a top 10 team in many categories in terms of holding their opponents to the 10th least amount of a specific stat. The Spurs have also been a top 10 team in multiple different defensive categories including defensive rating, lowest amount of points scored off of turnovers and lowest amount of points scored off of fastbreaks as well. one of the other reasons I think this Spurs team isn’t a team that should be slept on really is the individual play from their young players. The Spurs have had 7 guys averaging double digit point totals for them this season if we don’t include LeMarcus Aldridge as he of course had to retire after his short time in Brooklyn this season, but another guy it’s important to mention is their young guard Derrick White as he may not return this season so that’s a huge blow for this Spurs team as he’s one of the key players in their young core. However, even without White, they've had 6 players average double digit scoring totals this season and scoring isn’t just the only important thing when it comes to a team playing well, especially with this Spurs team. DeMar Derozan is averaging career highs, Keldon Johnson and Patty Mills are offensively thriving and big man Jakob Poeltl is also on a tear. So today we’re going to talk about why this Spurs team is a dangerous 2021 Playoff team and why this team needs to be taken serious in the 2021 Play-In Tournament and the 2021 NBA Playoffs. The LA Clippers ARE LOCKED IN! HOW the Los Angeles Clippers can make a DEEP PLAYOFF RUN!
Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr So a few weeks ago I made a video on the LA Clippers and how they seemed like they were finally starting to figure things out and put up great performances on a more consistent basis. well this Clippers team great level of play hasn’t seemed to decrease ever since I made that video as they’ve now won 13 of their last 15 games and today I wanna talk about why this team has what it takes to make a deep playoff run and what they’ll need to do in order to do just that. So last night the Clippers got themselves a 100-98 nice victory over the Detroit Pistons and while that might not seem too nice as the Pistons are currently the third worst team in the whole NBA only in front of the Timberwolves and Rockets record wise, the Clippers were playing the second half didn’t have 4 of their typical starters as PG13, Kawhi, Ibaka and Patrick Beverly all didn’t play in last night’s game. So getting a win on the second half of a back to back without 4 of your starters is something to give them credit for at least to me, even if it was against the Detroit Pistons. The Clippers got great play from Luke Kennard, Ivica Zubac and most specifically Point Guard Reggie Jackson as he scored 29 points on 50% shooting overall from the field as well as grabbing 6 rebounds and dishing out one assist while also coming up big and hitting the game winner for the LA Clippers. Now following last nights victory, it hasn’t just been 13 of their last 15 games that the Clippers have now won, but they’ve also now won 7 games in a row and got some nice victories in the process as they blew out the Lakers which even tho the Lakers are hurt I think a blowout win is always a positive then they got a nice 16 point victory over the tough Trail Blazers following that followed by yet another nice victory as they beat the also hot Phoenix Suns who currently hold the 2nd best record in the entire NBA on the season. so getting multiple double digit victories over some of the league’s top teams really shows how well this Clippers team has played and if you look here you can see during this stretch where they’ve won 13 of their last 15 their two best players Kawhi and Paul George have missed 4 games each over that span, starting Point Guard Pat Beverly missed 13 of those games and one of their big offseason pickups Serge Ibaka missed all of those 15 games and I think that personally shows just how impressive this recent run has been for the Clippers. Boston Celtics turning into a 2021 CONTENDER? CELTICS HAVE FOUND A SUCCESSFUL GAMEPLAN!
Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr So earlier this season I thought that this was going to be an absolute lost season for the Boston Celtics and while I thought they would most likely still make the playoffs, they could only dream about making it out of the first round. Now tho this team has really been playing great basketball lately and they look like they have the ability to upset some of the Eastern Conference’s top teams if they can continue playing as well as they have over the last 6 games. Yesterday the Celtics beat the Denver Nuggets who entered the game with an 8 game winning streak and a 7 game winning streak ever since Aaron Gordon first suited up for the Nuggets since the trade. The Celtics would end up winning by a good margin as they won by 18 points and a final score of 105-87, but the final score really doesn’t show off how impressive of a win this was for the Celtics. The Denver Nuggets had a sizable lead over the Celtics as they led by 14 points with less than a minute and 40 seconds remaining in the 3rd quarter but it seemed that the Celtics or more specifically Jayson Tatum really woke up and kicked things into gear as the Celtics would go on a 9-0 run to end the third quarter of play and cut the lead down to just 5 points but the Celtics nice run didn’t just end there. The Celtics ended up out scoring the Nuggets 31-8 in the fourth quarter, meaning they went on an insane 40-8 run in the final 13 minutes and 30 seconds of the game. Not only did the Celtics look great and put up an impressive performance against the Nuggets yesterday, but they now have also won 5 of their last 6 games, or 5 of the team’s 6 games that they have played since the calendar flipped or the month of the year changed from March to April of 2021. The Celtics only loss was against the third best team in the NBA currently and have also won 7 of their last 10 games including wins against many playoff teams and the league’s top teams such as the Denver Nuggets like mentioned as well as the Charlotte Hornets, the New York Knicks and maybe even their most impressive win aside from their win in Denver yesterday against the Nuggets, when they beat the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday March 26th and nearly did so by a double digit margin as they won by 8 points and a score of 122-114. Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr So last night the Phoenix Suns knocked off the NBA’s current top team the Utah Jazz and now have won 7 straight games which tops their previous best winning streak of 6 straight games. Now I’ve talked about the Phoenix Suns numerous times on this channel but I feel like with the Playoffs beginning in around 5 weeks now so a little over a month, I wanna talk about why this team might have a legitimate chance to win the Western Conference and make their first finals appearance in 28 years. Now I wanted to look at how well the team has played since say the beginning of March or just over this winning streak, but they’ve actually been playing this well for pretty much the whole season. The team is either Top 10, Top 5 or even Top 3 in many of the important statistical categories for how they’ve played on the season. That that goes in terms of both their offensive numbers as well as their defensive numbers also. So this team has really played efficient and hasn’t been sloppy and I think it’s safe to say adding CP3 to their roster has played a big part in that. The Suns will play their second game of a back to back after last night’s game which will be a tough one, especially because they will in fact have to deal with traveling after last night’s game but if they are able to beat the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center in LA and then also the Utah Jazz lose to the Portland Trail Blazers (and also snap their home winning streak), then all of a sudden the Phoenix Suns will only be half a game back of taking the first seed in the Western Conference as well as the best record in the entire NBA. Now the Phoenix Suns have also had the 7th easiest schedule in the entire NBA up to this point, despite their great record and despite the fact that they have the 2nd best Relative Percent Index rating aka RPI rating/ranking. The Phoenix Suns also have struggled in terms of defending their opponents on Fast Breaks as well as defending their opponents in the paint, despite the team having great defense and the 5th best defensive rating in the entire NBA this season. So this Phoenix Suns team does have their flaws and problems regardless tho, this Suns team is a great team with one of the best point guards of all time leading their offense and one of the best scorers in the league beside him in the backcourt and I think people who are sleeping on the Suns need to open their eyes and realizecc be while they may not be the favorites to win the Western Conference they absolutely have the ability to do so and if the Suns can even improve on their flaws and issues, they might just be able to make things interesting in a Playoff series against the Lakers or Jazz. So this Suns team has a ton of potential and has honestly been kinda slept on this season so I felt like making a third video on them this season and talking about how dangerous of a team they truly can be. Twitter: https://www.Twitter.com/SeanCostelloJr So while arguably the biggest move during the NBA’s 2021 Trade Deadline week wasn’t even a trade as veteran LeMarcus Aldridge signed with the Brooklyn Nets following his buyout in San Antonio, there still were a number of interesting trades at the deadline, including what might’ve been the biggest one when the Denver Nuggets made the trade for Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon. The Nuggets were already a tough team as they have a 2021 MVP Candidate in Nikola Jokic as well as many other great players on their roster, but after their recent acquisition of Aaron Gordon this team has been playing rejuvenated and inspired basketball as of late and it seems like their recent pickup has what it takes to put them over the edge into the title contender conversation. Not only did the Denver Nuggets win last night and Aaron Gordon played great in the Nuggets 119-109 win over Aaron Gordon’s former team the Orlando Magic, but the Nuggets starting lineup has been playing tremendous ever since they made the trade for Aaron Gordon. This Nuggets starting 5 has outscored their opponents by a wide margin when their on the floor together and they have been the best 5 man lineup in the entire NBA ever since they made the trade for Gordon. This lineup has had the highest offensive rating, defensive rating and net rating of any 5 man group in the league over this stretch. They have truly been the best 5 man lineup in the entire NBA over the time span ever since they made this trade. However some of their bench players and non starters have dragged down the team in terms of stats in some areas as they are not a top 10 team in many regards including points per game over the stretch since they acquired Aaron Gordon as they come in at the 11th spot in that regard. The team also has shown many flaws as well including the fact that they’ve really struggled and been in the bottom half of the league in terms of the team’s Free Throw shooting and and turnovers committed as of late. However, the team has absolutely dominated defensive since they’ve made the trade for Aaron Gordon as well as rebound the ball tremendously, and so great that they’re leading the league in rebounds over this stretch.
