Why is LSU Basketball So Inconsistent?

LSU Digital Media Reporter Cody Worsham joined Jordy and T-Bob to talk LSU basketball. Marlon Taylor’s game has finally come together and he was finally able to explode in a way that everyone knew he could against Georgia. “He was really raw coming in, he didn’t start playing basketball until his junio year in high school,” Worsham said. “This year’s been tough for him, he’s had to battle a lot of injuries.” Marshall Graves got his first career start on senior tribute day. Ironically, Graves’ final three-pointer came with 44 seconds remaining, which was former teammate Wade Sims’ number. “There are all these little things that add up,” Worsham said. “But Marshall is always the one who notices them.” Finally, they talked about the upcoming SEC Tournament and LSU’s chances as the 3-seed.

Ross Dellenger On LSU Beating Ole Miss, Burrow Taking Heisman & Tua's Injury
Ross Dellenger On LSU Beating Ole Miss, Burrow Taking Heisman & Tua's Injury

Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger joins OTB to talk college football, starting with Tua Tagovailoa’s injury. “It might be a long year or multiple years for Nick,” Dellenger said. “He felt bad for Tua and what happened, and clearly probably regrets the decision in a lot of ways.” Dellenger says that the Tide’s chances of making the playoff are slim at this point. “It’s really hard to see them getting in,” Dellenger said. “An 11-1 Alabama without Tua… you’d have to have a couple of Power 5 champions lose a game along the way.” The final playoff rankings may shake up, Dellenger said. “I try not to hammer a team because of a statistical performance,” “Here’s the thing, though… I wondered, if Ohio State keeps looking really good… on Selection Sunday, can Ohio State make the leap? I think they might be able to.” Oklahoma’s playoff chances are looking like they need some help, Dellenger said. “If Oklahoma is 12-1 and Big 12 champions, and Oregon is 12-1 as Pac-12 Champions, I think Oregon eeks in over them,” Dellenger said. “To have Utah and Oregon drop a game both… that’s what might have to happen (for Oklahoma to get in).” In terms of the Heisman race, Dellenger says it is clear-cut. “I think it stands with Joe Burrow,” Dellenger said. “When you ask around to some Heisman voters, it’s pretty clear. I think Joe won it against Alabama. I’d be shocked if somebody came from behind and got him. This is Joe’s to win right here.” The Bulldogs and Tigers are on a collision course, Dellenger said. “Georgia reminds me of LSU 2014-2015 under Les,” Dellenger said. “They play really conservatively, they don’t throw the ball down the field too much. I can’t wait (for LSU-Georgia). It’s going to be good.”

Wes Neighbors on Alabama's Loss To LSU
Wes Neighbors on Alabama's Loss To LSU

Huntsville talk radio host Wes Neighbors joins Off the Bench to report on the mood of the Alabama fan base. “Here’s the thing: LSU deserved to win the game hands-down,” Neighbors said. “I thought Alabama was lucky to be in it.” Tua Tagovailoa’s health was a factor in the game, Neighbors said. “I was told on Friday that he was 75%, (and) he was going to play,” Neighbors said. “LSU out-coached Alabama. 22 and Joe Burrow played unbelievable.” Neighbors said Joe Burrow’s Heisman odds are good, but not certain. “I would say that he did,” Neighbors said, “but you can’t ever trust these voters.” Despite the chances for the Tide to see the Tigers again, Neighbors said he would want to see the match-up. “LSU wanted that game more,” Neighbors said. “I would be scared to play them again, because they are a good football team.”

T-Bob & Jordy React To LSU Defeating Mississippi State & Being Undefeated
T-Bob & Jordy React To LSU Defeating Mississippi State & Being Undefeated

Mississippi State had no chance against LSU. However, a lot of people are saying that LSU had to fight through a struggle against the Bulldogs. That is FAR from the truth. Do not be swayed from this Tiger's team, there were a few hiccups on the defense but this game was a resounding success and we should be encouraged going forward into the Auburn game this weekend.
